I live in Christchurch and during the lockdown I felt inspired to make my own compost and soil.
The goal was to build it from my own garden waste rather than creating more waste by buying it in plastic bags and filling the red and green bins up.

I didn't know where or how to start so I contacted Katrina. We had a 1:1 consultation via Zoom. It's amazing how many ideas and how much inspiration came up in just 1 hour. A month later, I have got myself a worm farm and built 2 hot compost piles.

I had been interested in gardening for a few years now but had been more of a “reading/listening to podcasts gardener” not really knowing where to start. I came across Katrina & signed up for her 3 month coaching & am pleased to say that has all changed. We got stuck straight in making compost, sowing seeds, introducing worms etc. I would definitely recommend Katrina for her great knowledge, easy manner & totally hands-on approach. She gives you the information you need but also explains the why behind it & encourages you to think through your actions also. I’m now well on my way to having my own little piece of garden paradise.

I connected with Katrina through her instagram account - Blue Borage. I quickly noticed Katrina is deeply connected to Mother Gaia, which is reflected in her approach to gardening. I have learned a lot since following her and have the confidence to reconnect back to what I already knew - that I have everything I need to create a productive garden too! I contacted Blue Borage because I wanted to have really great soil for my veggie gardening. Katrina and I spent an afternoon preparing a hot compost pile together. This was an incredibly practical session for me and we chatted heaps about gardening as we worked. In addition, Katrina brought a container which will function as an in-ground worm farm which is working a treat. I plan to replicate the composting and worm farms all round my section to ensure that my soil is of high quality for the veggies, we will grow and eat.

I have been working with Katrina for a few years now and as a professional chef and events organiser, I always found her work and insights about food, plants, agriculture and soil preparation inspired and inspiring. Katrina is passionate about propagating seeds and kindly gifted me a set of seeds with full instructions . I was not convinced about the efforts involved however what convinced me was the astounding results I achieved from the seedlings I received at at one of her plant swaps. Even now I am enjoying eating some of the produce and am sold on the idea of propagating my own seeds. The magic contained in seeds can only be truly appreciated once you release what’s within. She has also ignited my interest in composting and the ability to produce my own soil mulch. The generosity , the kindness and depth of knowledge - 🙏❤️. Truly valued .

I attended the Blue Borage gardening course which met over a number of weeks. I was quite disenchanted with gardening and facing a tangle of weeds in my garden after being away from it for a while. Katrina's workshops inspired me to look at gardening in a completely new way. I have made friends with weeds (and other gardeners), discovered hot composting and developed new skills and a love for gardening again and it shows in my bountiful garden. Highly recommend.

Katrina from Blue Borage is the perfect teacher who instructed me on how to make my own seed mix. By following her simple, clear instructions I was able to start making my own and it's been a hit with my seeds. They've got off to the best start possible. I now have a thriving, productive vegetable garden.

Since then I have learnt more from Katrina whether it be in person or through her online courses or weekly updates. She makes gardening accessible, easy and fun and all achieved in a kind, nourishing and sustainable way.
