I feel like I was cheated. The price was an agree upon and a very vague contract ended up getting signed. They ended up drafting an extra payment out of my account making my purchase much higher than it should’ve been. When it was time to slaughter the cow I was told that I had to pay extra for aging. When we made the purchase, we were told that the beef we purchased would be aged and they did not say there’ll be an extra charge. All in all it cost me almost $1000 more than I had agreed to pay. I feel like I was misled and cheated, and would never do business with a company that I thought was so unethical. I would stay away. I would stay very far away from this company. There are too many ethical companies out there where you can get product that I believe is just as good and much cheaper.

On April 13, 2023 I signed a contract with Designer Beef for 1/4 cow. As a relatively new company I had them make some adjustments to the agreement because they didn't have a time limit on how long they could take money out of my account. I told the salesman I did not want more than 15 lbs of hamburger and was willing to take other cuts instead. I was told they would honor my limit of 15 lbs of hamburger. When I asked how much I would be paying for the beef I was told around $11.00 a pound. Around September, I asked how much meat I would receive, I was told they couldn't predict. They told me nobody would ever quote $11/lb and they were sorry I misunderstood them. When December came around and we went to pick up our meat we were unpleasantly surprised. First, they wanted to give us around 65 lbs of hamburger which was not acceptable. Instead of all that hamburger we received 7 country style ribs that were mostly fat. In addition, we still ended up having to settle for 50 lbs of hamburger! All in all, we received about 106 lbs of meat from a 1,485 lb steer at a cost of $3,237.00 or over $30 per pound! I feel I got scammed! I originally wrote a positive review of Designer Beef because they were offering over $500 worth of free meat for the review. Please note this is prior to receiving the meat a few months later. All in all, a very expensive lesson in getting value for your money.
