PERFECT… genuinely perfect.
What an amazing school ski trip we’ve just returned from with North47. This was our first trip since Alex Wardley set up North47 with Angela McDill - what a fabulous combination they provide.
From the outset our quote was detailed yet clear and very competitive. For the quality of what they provide - hotel, ski equipment, instruction and most of all, all-round support, this was amazing value for money for our children.
The booking process and preparation was exemplary - Angela’s vast experience and detailed knowledge of the industry was clear from the outset. What was also clear is how personable and responsive Angela is - questions answered immediately, documents including risk assessments and safety management system were provided and were superb. It was also reassuring for our school and parents that North47 are backed by ABTOT and ATOL.
Whilst North47 offer air travel, we always travel by coach as it suits us down to the ground - one company North47 use are Jewitts Coaches and Shaun and Darius (our drivers this year) couldn’t have been more helpful - not only for the long drive there and back but also whilst in resort - getting the kids ski boots out in the morning and shoes out on our return and being so flexible for our evening entertainment activities which are included in the tour cost.
Our evening activities this time were a visit to the ice cream parlour, a trip to the local pool/billiards hall and tenpin bowling. These are brilliant and keep the children occupied after an already fantastic skiing day!
Our hotel was superb and this is another feature that makes North47 stand out from another company that I used in Italy for many years - the quality of the accommodation and the food provided really is fantastic.
Then, the main reason why we are there, is the skiing. Skiing out of Alpendorf is really convenient for us and we love the fact that the coach parks opposite the chairlift and it’s a simple trip up the lift to the ski area. We’re also really lucky that North47 have such a close relationship with the Kresitenalm restaurant up on the mountain, where we store the skis overnight. Also, perhaps most importantly for the beginners in our group, we can use the fantastic nursery slope alongside the Kreistenalm which is off the main ski slopes and has no through-ski-traffic at all. It really couldn’t be more perfect. The Kresitenalm also provides a great base for us through the week where the staff are great, the food delicious and the views are stupendous!
The North47 instructors, provided by the amazing SkiSchule Wolfgang Pfeifhofer are brilliant and really are invested in providing safe learning (and fun) for the children. What is brilliant is that they are all part of Wolfgang’s instruction team - so we know which instructors we will get rather than some random instructors from a different ski school who are not always quite so conscientious and/or accommodating. We really do appreciate the quality of instruction and our North47 rep who coordinates everything so well. Likewise the quality of the skis and boots - really a cut above those we’ve used in years gone by. Karl and his team in rental are wonderful - so keen to help and to make sure that everything is tip-top and ready for our group - prefect.
The final thing that absolutely needs mentioning is the personal touch that Alex and the team provide when in resort. As a party leader it’s great to know that everyone on our school ski trip is so well looked after should the need arise. On the rare occasions that students (or staff!) need to use the medical facilities or hospital, Alex can’t do enough to help and support - a member of the North47 team has always accompanied us to the hospital when we’ve needed to visit. Having a member of the North47 management team present to speak the local language and dialect is so reassuring and frankly, whenever we have the slightest issue, Alex and team are always there to help out. This really is fantastic element and I’ve not found this to be the case with all trips that I have led over the years!
So, massive thanks to Angela, Alex, Cory, Karl and all of the team who helped make this years’ ski trip so truly amazing. The feedback from students and parents has been incredible. We look forward to our 25/26 season school trip.
