Perfect customer service

Over 10 years ago we bought a Cambridge hi-fi set-up from Richer Sounds, including a Project direct drive turntable, and we're extremely happy with our purchase, and the customer service that we experienced from all the staff we encountered. This year, the CD player decided it liked our Gregory Porter CD so much that it refused to give it back. We spoke with Adrian(Store Manager) on the telephone, and we took it in to see what could be done. He explained that because it was a very early model, spare parts might not be available to fix it. It turned out that this was the case, so we decided to purchase another unit to replace it. They agreed to refund the original repair deposit, and also gave us a reduction to allow us to replace the lost CD, which I felt was customer service "above and beyond". They also arranged for free DPD delivery the following morning, which has happened perfectly. I'd just like to thank both Adrian, and all the staff involved for their excellent customer service, experience and making us, the return customer, feel so special. I'd recommend Richer Sounds to anybody wanting hi-fi equipment without blinking. To us, you are a trusted supplier. Thank you very much.

Friendly staff, good prices

Friendly staff, details orientated when reviewing any finance application, to make sure all details are correct and the customers fully understand the terms.

Good product choice, very fast delivery, good prices especially for price matching or for display products

That’s me sorted

Bought the Phillips Tav3000 for a bit of fun. It’s what I wanted but after a while I wanted to upgrade it a little. (The phono quality not as good as its Bluetooth so I guessed there could be some improvement) So into my local shop in Manchester where they quickly sorted me out an upgrade stylus - audio-technica ATN3600LE. And explained why it was a better stylus - Apparently the ellipsoid shape of the needle means it snuggles into the groove better. There wasn’t one in store but one was soon delivered to my home. Anyway, definitely does sound better (clearer bass) - which was what I was looking for, so very happy.

Different stores - different offers?

I popped in based on recommendation from a friend to look at TV's. I explained I'd seen an offer on the LG website and asked about price matching. Before I'd even finished my sentence I was interrupted by the manager "can't beat that price due to their 1 year warranty compared to our 6 years". I asked if they could check the deal anyway and he said "there's no point in checking I've sold 5-6 this week and already know which offer you're referring to". Fair enough. I left not even knowing what deal they could do.

I then went to the Prestwich store and not only did they match the LG offer - they beat it by £100! So I do question why I wasn't given this treatment at the Manchester store. Maybe they deal with different margins etc but I'm questioning if this means I now need to visit multiple stores to get the best offers in future?

Edit - To be fair since making this review Richer Sounds have personally rang me apologising and said they will look into what went wrong. At the end of the day I got my TV for much cheaper than the LG website. So they seem keen to fix problems when they occur.

Thank you for your feedback, although I was genuinely sorry to read about your experience in the Manchester store. Our 'Price Beat' applies to any purchase made from us, regardless of which store customers visit, and has a few reasonable terms including that the competitors deal carries a similar guarantee to our own.

Of course all colleagues have the ability to strike the best deals they can on the day, and it sounds like the store manager could have handled your enquiry much more successfully as the Prestwich store were able to do, so we will follow up with him to discuss what happened in more detail.

In the meantime I will arrange for our customer service team to contact you directly to put matters right..

Until now they have been excellent.

Until now they have been excellent.
Then I got a faulty Manhattan Aero. Manhattan were less than helpful. I ordered another which was fine.
Then came trying to return the first.
The e mail says 3 photos are required but nothing about what to do with them. Take the box in the box HUH? Does it mean the device in the box. Then plug in the box, what cardboard?

I will of course review what was sent to request collection images, to ensure any communicaton of such is as clear as it needs to be.
