Approachable and knowledgeable: our experience interviewing Jospehine for a student project
When working on a school project to improve mobility in Amsterdam, we had the privilege of interviewing Josephine from Able Amsterdam. Her insights into the challenges faced by wheelchair users provided us with invaluable perspectives on inclusive mobility. These insights not only enhanced our project considerations but also fostered a deeper empathy for the needs of minority groups.
We came across Able Amsterdam during our research on wheelchair accessibility projects in the city. The website's extensive and detailed content, especially the guidelines for accessibility, was eye-opening and exposed the limitations of our initial understanding. Thus, we reached out to Josephine, keen to delve deeper into the topic and learn about her efforts to promote accessibility through Able Amsterdam.
From the very beginning, Josephine impressed us with her approachability, knowledge, and helpfulness. Throughout our interview, she shared numerous anecdotes and examples that powerfully illustrated the daily challenges faced by wheelchair users. These stories, drawn from her extensive experiences, helped us develop a more nuanced and personal understanding of the complexities at hand. Josephine’s patient and detailed explanations also gave us a greater appreciation for the subtleties in addressing wheelchair accessibility. This enabled us to better consider not just the needs of wheelchair users, but also the needs of minority groups for our project. Additionally, her warmth and friendliness made the interview experience not only insightful but also enjoyable. It was also inspiring to hear about her own experiences working on Able Amsterdam.
We highly recommend any students working on projects related to mobility and wheelchair accessibility in Amsterdam to reach out to Josephine. Engaging with her extensive experience won’t just give you insights into the domain, but also a more personal, empathetic understanding of the topic.
It was a pleasure learning from Josephine, and we are grateful for the knowledge and passion she shared with us during our interview.
