AFK Letters was a company with no scruples. Like many other reviewers I was duped with promise after promise. It also attempted to take two large unauthorised payments from my husband's credit card.
In reference to a recent comment, only yesterday, I too received an email from
Red Square Ltd. I replied questioning its authenticity. Unsurprising, there has been no response.

Red Square

Has anyone who was with AFK Letters trying to get compensation for solar panels heard from a company called Red Square? They're trying to get me to pay more money, apparently for court fees, on the promise that I will get an award from the Central London County Court. They have a lot of official looking documentation, but I can find no details about them (bar a Companies House listing).

Deposit

First of all, I do not have a lot of faith in this company. We had them write a letter to start the ball rolling in getting money back from our Solar installation. They then seemed to disappear as I’m sure lots of you are aware.
This was in 22, the case did go to the Ombudsman and today we had a substantial sum of money deposited into our bank account.
I give no credit the the company, take up the complaint with the Ombudsman directly.

There is hope

Finally after months of frustration I’ve been given my money back from my credit card provider. Started claim in April.
I put a section 75 though for miss selling and it was rejected twice under appeal from my credit card provider I escalated it to the financial ombudsman with information gathered from this site and proof that the card provider had refunded others that had been miss led by this company.

The only advice I can give is if a company is asking for money upfront put the phone down. I thought using a credit card would help if things went wrong generally it does but these scammers are getting cleaver with their wording within the contracts people sign.

There is another company called JP Administration Ltd who cold called me with exactly the same talk as AFK Letters. 10% fee upfront to send letters to banks for misold solar panels and batteries. On their website they supposedly write letters for all sorts of complaints but I was specifically asked if I had solar panels. I showed an interest and the young girl who called me said she would get a specialist to call me the next day. I spoke to the specialist for some time then asked if he knew AFK letters. He said he had heard of them. I had done my research and on Companies House both AFK letters and JP Administration Ltd have virtually the same address. On Google earth they share the same front door. 124-128 City Rd London. When quizzed by me the specialist got angry and hung up. The same people different company name?. AFK have been exposed as a scam on Rip off Britain so beware of JP Adminstration ltd!

Do not trust AFK or UK Swift Network

Just got in contact with a company called UK Swift Network. The man said afk letters were partners. And the 2k that people gave to them was pocketed by the director.
DO NOT TRUST UK SWIFT NETWORK EITHER.
Their site is brand new, and still has code from AFK. I'm pretty sure they're the same people. Also the company registration is to a random home in South london.

If you go to their contact page, it still says afk on the title of the site. Pretty damning and lazy from them if you ask me

With AFK Letters when you paid the deposit they would only take credit card and if you paid by this and still have your contract, your card company should be able to request a chargeback. And if they told you that your request had been successful and you will be paid on a certain date and of course the money never came they broke the contract and proves that it is a scam. Good luck

AFK fraud

I signed up to AFK letters and paid them money to claim mis-selling solar panels. I am now seeking compensation, however need to obtain a copy of the original contract. Does anyone have this please?

AFK Letters Solar Panel Refunds Scam

Like many others I have become a victim of a SCAM by this company.
I received aa telephone call in August 2023 offering to obtain re-imbursement for items on my Solar Panels after the installer went bust less than 2 years after installing the panels.
They initially charged me £1995 to take on my case and over several month I had many email and telephone conversations with Rebecca Hall.
They did write letters on my behalf to Barclaycard and the financial Ombudsman.
On 7th February 2024 they telephoned me and followed up with an email saying my claim had been successful and the settlement date would be 23rd March 2024.
In late February I telephoned them again as they sent me an invoice of £3326.20 which I queried
I did not pay the invoice and no proceeds of my claim were received in March. There telephone lines have been cut off and there is no response to emails

I paid over £1,500 to AFK for a letter to claim back solar panels payment from Bank as the company I paid went bankrupt and Directors served time in jail.
However, to get a refund of total amount, I was to pay, up front again, over £3000.00. My Bank phoned me to get authorisation but I said "don't pay" as I don't have that money in my Bank account.
I never ever heard another word from AFK.

Worst company

If this is the case about company strike off, I assume people need to get there claims in to their banks before this happens, we had a full refund from our credit card in April, so if you are owed money get the ball rolling asap, I know some people have not managed to get a refund, can’t believe AFK have got away with it for so long, good luck everyone

AVOID AT ALL COST

AVOID AT ALL COST.

THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM and they preyed on my vulnerable mother in her 80's. They took £800 and then tried to take £1,600 (without permission), and after the date of the compensation (23 March 24) elapsed and my registered post was returned, no phone calls are taken and no emails answered, I have no other option than to escalate this.

How these people named Rebecca Hall and Jackie (if indeed they are real people) sleep at night is beyond me.

Avoid at all cost. One big scam

Total scam company whose phone numbers are now disconnected and do not reply to emails.
The first interraction with this company was really a positive one. I had been miss sold solar panels under pressure which do not generate as much as I was told and AFK Letters commenced the process of reclaiming money with interest. I provided all the info and letters were sent to my bank. Unfortunately because I paid with a cheque and via money transfer the bank stated i did not have recompense from them. AFK then wrote to the ombusdman on my behalf but they stated the bank were correct and I had no comeback. At this point I had paid £1500 to AFK via credit card. In December 2023 I contacted AFK who said my case was with their specialist who was attempting to get money back from the solar installers who had recently gone bust via the court system and I would be getting a payment of £10,600 no later than 23/3/2024. In January I contacted AFK to ask for progress on my claim and was told it was all going through but I needed to pay a further £1,090 to cover the tax and to commence the final collection process. This I did, again via a credit card. The following week a similar payment was attempted from my card which was luckily declined by my bank. I attempted to contact AFK letters to ask why they had attempted to take another payment and received an appology from Rebecca stating that their accounts department had failed to tick a 'tax paid' box on their system!! She stated that she was sorry my claim had taken so long but to bear with them as I was now in the final leg of the process and could look forward to receiving monies after 23rd March.
This still hasn't happened and now they are uncontactable. I'm wondering if they knew they were going to close down on or around the 23rd March?
Avoid at all cost

Deception upon deception

Last September AFK Letters took £7,609 from me in 'refundable deposits'. I was advised in March 2024 of a settlement value of over £14,000 to be paid on 23 March. Without my knowledge they took £2,915 out of my credit card account. My card supplier later told me they had stopped 2 more payments totalling over £4,000. AFK Letters does not reply to emails and their telephone lines are no longer in service. What can be done to recover money due to me from this rogue company?

WARNING this company has done a runner!

Do not use this company they are scammers. Their Director changed on 22 Jan 2024 and since then all they have done is accumulate as much money as possible by repeat drawing payments from as many accounts as possible before we the gullible notice and stop them. So far they have taken five payments of the 20% 'income and savings tax', nearly £8,500.
Their accounts have not been filed with Companies House, so I think we can say they have done a runner with our money.
