Left frustrated and disappointed — my son had fun, I did not
I visited on 26 August 2026 at 2:30pm, pre-booked, with 4 adults and 1 child, after an hour's drive from York. My son had a brilliant time and enjoyed every moment — I want that on record, because the rest of this review is about my own experience trying to keep the day running smoothly, and it wasn't good.
Reception set the tone. Only one desk open despite an obviously busy day, and a second one that opened too late to prevent a long, frustrating wait.
The changing rooms were, honestly, hard to stomach — a strong smell of urine, uneven wet flooring, and cubicles too small to comfortably use. There's no signage explaining the locker system, which mattered because the key I was given simply didn't work. I tried around 20 lockers before giving up and going back to reception, visibly frustrated at that point, to get it resolved. That's real time lost, time I'd planned to spend enjoying the day, not troubleshooting basic equipment.
The park itself shows serious signs of neglect — rusted play structures, chipped paint, not nearly enough loungers, and 15+ minute queues for slides that didn't feel worth the wait once you got there. I've visited other water parks and thermal complexes elsewhere in Europe that are simply on another level entirely — spotless, modern, genuinely relaxing. I won't name them here, but the gap in quality was stark, and it's not a comparison I'm making from a place of never having seen a well-run facility. Quite the opposite.
To be fair, the outdoor pools were warm and pleasant — the one genuine bright spot. But even that's undercut by a drainpipe wrapped in blue tarp ruining the view from one pool, and an "infinity pool" that really isn't.
What made things worse: their website advertises ticket types like "family" tickets without ever clarifying what's actually included, and offers no way to pre-order anything — swimming goggles, floats, a small souvenir. Everything has to be bought on-site. By the time I'd dealt with the queues and the locker fiasco, I had no patience left to queue again just to get my son something to take home. That's the part that still bothers me most.
Given the price and the drive, I left the day frustrated and disappointed rather than relaxed — which is the opposite of what a place like this should deliver.
