Some good employees, not great campground
We’ve paid for 4 years of Americas Mailbox titanium service in Box Elder, SD. Truly, I’d give a two star review, but employees have been helpful. One more star The fourth star is because of Lani!
I’m still not 100% sure we will be staying with them for another year. They do handle our mail very well. Incoming packages however, take alot of processing time.
Early in 2023 we bought our truck and 5th wheel in AZ. While returning to Washington, I had signed us up for Americas Mailbox because of Suite Travels recommendation.
The first reason for my poor Company rating is this: I was not ABLE to complete the required paperwork after pymt, as literally the day after our return to WA, I lost the ability to walk! Into the hospital I went, and stayed for a full three months! After spinal column neurosurgery, complications, then inpatient physical therapy to walk again.. and even after discharge, it was more than a full year before I was starting to feel anywhere near normal. Many of the meds for extreme nerve pain, actually deadened my ability to think and function at all.
One of the requirements for the paperwork to get a mailbox with Americas Mailbox, is notarized paperwork. There was NO way I could do this, with extreme nerve agony. No car rides for me!
I was not functioning. At all! We’re supposed to leave to travel, and instead have an RV home I couldn’t walk or climb stairs into, and a rented out house. My husband was thrown into helping our son fix up his newly purchased house, where we could stay while I continued daily PT and healed. We weren’t in a position to think about anything, except for one step at a time! We forgot all about Americas Mailbox!
When we needed to license our Ram 3500 and 5th wheel, I remembered Americas Mailbox.
To be fair, I don’t remember the exact dates, but it was at least nine months since original payment in 2023.
Since we had never used the services at all, I expected a credit on our account. Donna was the employee who was great at helping us figure out this situation. There was no credit! Instead we were told we had to pay upfront for another year if we wanted services. We paid, and the only thing we did was pay for Lani’s help in registering our truck and RV. We might have gotten two or three pieces of mail that entire year, but we paid for the titanium program. A second time
The accounting office denied us a credit for a year, despite our paperwork NEVER being finished and their office NOT EVEN assigning us a mailbox number,,,,, and honestly, I’m still really irked about it.
They didn’t give us a credit when we did not use their services at all? As a former accountant, i know it’s easy to just leave the credit on the books for a year.
We had very extenuating, really serious and provable circumstances, and they could have shown s modicum of kindness? The titanium plan is not inexpensive and it was never used. The money we put into the postage fund stayed right there.
In 2025 I really had to think whether Americas Mailbox was worth it or not. But I had really liked working with Donna, and Lani was wonderful to work with on our title transfers, registrations, etc . So for a third time we paid for the titanium plan for another year.
Then we were given the opportunity to purchase a ram 5500 truck.
(Our Elder who had passed, did not leave behind any paperwork. He always paid cash, so the family assumption was that we would just pay cash for the new to us truck with only 15,000 miles. Getting the title took ended up taking an additional four months, if I remember correctly, and we did get charged twice for the registration fees charged by Americas Mailbox.
That was because I had taken up Lani‘s work time, before we realized we had to wait for the mailed Texas title from the bank to be found.
And then we started the title process transfer and licensing in South Dakota again. Lani was very patient, helpful and kind!
Now that we are here physically in SD, as our new home base, have noticed other things. The employees are very nice and helpful.
One rule we’re not fond of, is calling a day before picking up mail or boxes. When a cold box of specialty food arrived 3 days ahead of its scheduled delivery date, we were still traveling, but drove two long days to arrive before closing on Friday.
The employees were very helpful as they were worried about the cold food.
But then they had lost our other boxes somewhere… So we ended up making another trip to town the next week. And yes, we do understand processing times and try to honor the rule.
The RV camping area is only OK. It does not show great care, and I’m happy we did not choose to stay there all packed in. No outdoor tables or amenities either.
If it were not for good employees, I do not believe we would continue with this company. 2026 is paid, but 2027?
