After many years of watching the blog, then the site, I finally completed my first capsule wardrobe with Articles of Style, and overall, I’m very happy with the final result. The garments are all fantastic. The fabrics are luxurious, the designs are sharp and timeless, and the construction quality is as good as advertised. I’ve never felt more put-together than I do in these clothes and trust they'll last a long time.

That said, my experience wasn’t without its challenges.

Communication after placing my order was slower than expected, likely due in part to the team being in the middle of a new collection shoot. While understandable, it still impacted my confidence during the process... especially for a purchase at this price point, where the experience is seemingly meant to feel bespoke and collaborative.

Additionally, the trial garments arrived significantly off my measurements. While I was impressed with how well the final jacket came out (right on the money) all of the trousers required fairly major alterations after delivery. This was made more astounding given the knitwear tops were all perfect... I can't imagine a man wearing one of those shirts while also fitting the trousers as received. (To their credit, AoS did refund those costs in store credit, which I appreciated.)

At the end of the day, I genuinely love the clothes and will no doubt continue building my wardrobe with AoS, but I’d advise new customers to budget in some extra time and possibly expect a bit of back-and-forth to get everything dialed in just right.

If you’re after timeless, custom-made style and don’t mind a few wrinkles in the process, AoS is absolutely a great place to start.

The suit fits very well and the construction is superb. However, it seems some of my measurements were ignored seeing that I have a bit of a tummy and I wear high rise trousers. The trousers I received were incredibly tight and a normal rise. Luckily the suit comes with plenty of fabric to make these adjustments.

To have 1:1 time with Dan, or any other AOS personnel, is where I will start. Their attentiveness to what MY needs are is what truly stands out. Then, they have a plethora of options for your garment(s), and offer suggestions based upon what we discussed during our zoom meeting. I now have half of my wardrobe from AOS, and it fits like a glove and looks fantastic. The only regret someone will have, is not having infinite budget.

I purchased a made-to-measure moleskin trouser. It fits perfectly! Absolutely zero alterations needed. The trouser itself is insanely soft and comfortable (just as advertised.)

As always AoS has exceptional customer service. They’re really helpful and patient and respond quickly. It’s nice to work with a small business that prizes quality service!

I ordered the Classic Raglan Sleeve Mac in Chestnut a few weeks ago and received the final garment a few days ago, and I could not be more pleased with how it turned out. The color is a deeper and richer brown than most coats I've seen of that color, and much more interesting (darker than camel but lighter than just brown). And the brushed cotton has such a cool suede look without being so heavy. The workmanship is also top notch. The fitting process was successful as it sits and drapes just right, and I love the two sets of pockets (ample lower flap pockets for storage and upper slit pockets for hands).

I've worn it out a number of times already, probably more times than I needed to, to be honest, and every time I get approving looks, double takes, and comments. I've worn it with mostly casual clothes so far (e.g., jeans, boots, and henleys, or chinos, Derbys, and button ups, etc.) and besides being functional in the rainy winter weather here it looks great with everything. I haven't worn it with more formal clothes yet as I just haven't had the occasion, but I have zero doubts it will fit right and look just as good in a more formal setting as it does in more casual settings.

This is my third article of clothing from AoS. My first was a copper bamboo sportscoat that gets compliments every time I wear it, and my second was a hopsack navy blazer that is always a go-to choice. The addition of this mac is almost literally like the icing on the cake. This is an expensive purchase for me, but I am satisfied that over the years I'll get my money's worth.

I've been buying clothes from Articles of Style since 2016 and they've never failed to impress. The brand has only gone from strength to strength since then and the quality of the garments is truly stellar.

For my latest suit, I wanted a completely different cut; Dan and the team went above and beyond to update my pattern and nail the look I was after. The resulting suit is perfection - it's exactly what I was looking for in terms of silhouette and feel, and it's clean as all hell. We did a new basted fitting for the fit update, and I'm still blown away by how well the process works. The waistband of the fitting trousers, in particular, was very loose, yet without any extra measurements, the final garment came in millimeter-perfect. The jacket, as well, is unbelievably clean.

Quality aside, the best part of Aos is that when you work with them, you're working with real people. Dan and the team listen to what you want, help with recommendations, take your feedback on board when working with the fits... it's an incredibly refreshing experience as opposed to grappling with an indifferent website or algorithm.

If you're thinking about pulling the trigger but you're unsure about the process, have faith - they won't do you wrong.

Just received my 8th suit from AOS - a pine green wool + silk blend fabric by Dormeuil, a color and composition I had been hunting down for quite some time. (For anyone on the fence about purchasing one of their higher-end fabrics, it’s absolutely worth it. The drape and dimension is nothing I have ever seen in a suit before. I had this one made double breasted with wide peak lapels, and the roll is unbelievably pronounced, and will continue to improve as it breaks in!) It seems like each year AOS continues to expand and improve their fabric offerings. I’m always looking forward to their next seasons’ offerings!

As far as the fit, Dan and his team knocked it out of the park once again! Fit was spot on as usual with no follow-up alterations needed. I’m very particular with just about every detail of my garments and sent several questions/confirmations for this one. The AOS team answered all of them in a patient and professional manner. To top it all off, they’re getting faster at completing bespoke orders.

It’s been an amazing journey growing with Articles of Style, and I’m already looking forward to placing my next order with them!

I've purchased 4 suits over 9 years from AOS. So I'm not their highest spending customer but I was certainly one of their first customers when I purchased my linen suit for my wedding in 2015. Over the years I've purchased the full linen, silk tweed, fresco, and 4-season wool suit and I love every one of them. I don't wear suits as often as I used to but they are great to wear as separates for any number of occasions. I wish AOS offered the silk tweed in the mini-houndstooth pattern in different colors, it's by the far the suit that continues to garner the most compliments over and over and over!

After following AoS since its inception, I was finally able to pull the trigger on purchasing a suit for a special occasion. While the suit took much longer to receive than anticipated, the AoS team took care of everything and made sure my suit arrived in time for my wedding.
