What a great experience with Asante. I tried to buy a pro espresso machine from a vendor in Italy and was disappointed with the service there. Asante was very responsive and courteous. The machine arrived a couple of days late but the delay was due to the Christmas holiday, I'm sure. Thank you!

Nice place, always freshly roasted coffees!

Wow, I was so looking forward to this place. As a former coffee house owner, this is the type of place I miss now that I live in Portugal. However I was in for quite a shock.

We arrived right at opening so things were nice and mellow. Looking at the menu we saw all the common coffee drinks one would expect, espresso, cappuccino, latte etc. However in parenthesis next to the latte listing was the Portuguese drink galão. This was the only drink I noticed with a Portuguese rough equivalent listed next to it but as I was looking for a latte I may have missed others.

Now if you know about galãos you may also know that they are not very strong. In fact some cafe's go so far as to pull a second shot through an already brewed serving as, once again, they are not meant to be strong. And I personally, don't like them.

So having never been here before and as someone looking forward to a strong drink, I wanted to clarify why the word galão was listed and make sure I would get what I was expecting. Well the person who seemingly was the owner went off on me and told me that I was disrespecting him. I truly thought he was being sarcastic and with a smile I apologized and expected a laugh in return.

Instead he doubled down, yelling at me how he "is building a brand" and I should be ashamed at myself for coming into his establishment and insinuating that he is serving a second rate product. As we stood there in disbelief he kept going on. Needless to say, we turned and left. I am not going to spend four times the cost of the coffee drink I usually get and get yelled at no matter how good it might be.

And while I would guess that the coffee that comes from this establishment is quite good, we will never know. Instead we walked around the corner and got two wonderful meia de leites (somewhat similar to a cappuccino) and two pastel de nata pastries for the cost of one of his double lattes. Plus we got a warm smile and a heartfelt obrigada for our patronage.

True professionals in everything about coffee - beans, roasting, grinding, equipment, etc. Not only it is a pleasure to order coffee beans here, but also every time I visit I enjoy being around, leaning new stuff, picking some new pease of equipment etc.
