Ascensus is the WORSE financial company…
Ascensus is the WORSE financial company I've ever dealt wiht. I lvoed Vanguard but V clsoed their solo 401k group and sent my money to these clowns. It has been nothing but mismanagement and headaches with Ascensus. Now we are trying-- for 4 weeks now-- to get money out of Ascensus and into Fidelity. We've submitted forms multiple times, spoken with 1/2 dozen reps and then we got locked out of our admin portal. I guess they don't want to give up our money. I hope they like this review.
Horrific company that you cannot trust…
Horrific company that you cannot trust to move your money. I have two different accounts at Ascensus and all I wanted was to roll one into the other, which you’d think would be simple. But the accounts are managed by different teams who don’t communicate and don’t understand each other’s rules and regulations, and they cannot transfer funds digitally between accounts, instead requiring you to receive a paper check you then have to send back to them to deposit. One support staffer processed a check to empty my 401k and move it to the other account, but it turns out it cannot be deposited because that transfer is not allowable under the rules of the other account. Took me over 90 minutes on the phone being transferred between teams before I caught the mistake and got the check canceled. No one took accountability for the mistake or gave me any assurances that they would be more careful with my money going forward, so now I don’t feel comfortable trying to move it again. It feels like my retirement savings is being held hostage by incompetent fools.
401k Nightmare
I've been trying to close my business 401k account for over 4 months now. Hours and hours of wasted time filling out forms they told me to which were wrong. There is no communication between departments. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

This is the worse company. We have tried to remove our businesses 401K for several months and they have dragged their feet. In addition, they have incorrectly mailed out the checks and have sent incorrect wires. Oh, yes, they charged for this service. Horrible response time. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Run as far as you can from this terrible company
Is LESS than one star possible? This company is SO unethical!! We’ve been trying to move our investments to Ann ethical institution for over a year and we still haven’t been able to get anll our money out!!!
The funds we did get out, they liquidated our long held investments & sent over a half million dollars by regular mail with a regular check & to the wrong address! This is so unethical!!!
It took them MONTHS to do during a huge market rise - meaning we lost over $100,000 because of their terrible business practices.
Just like everyone else
Just like everyone else, not a fan. It has been 3 months and I still can't get my money. Apparently someone from a company I never worked at (the old company was sold) has to approve the release of the funds. They cant get a hold of him, I guess. Most of the Ascensus personnel has been nice, but not really helpful.
Guess My Money Is Just Floating Out There
Frauds. I called in after leaving my former company who I had ascensus with and when I first called they told me I needed to speak with my payroll administrator, so they transferred me to dayforce. Dayforce said I needed my employee ID, great no problem. Called back after I retrieved it, and the second rep said she didn’t see Dayforce as my payroll admin., so she transferred me to ADP (my old payroll admin) of course they couldn’t do anything because we no longer used ADP.
So I call ascensus back, they said they can change my address for me but it will be a 2 week hold before I can withdraw. At this point I’m thinking well you guys don’t see Dayforce as my admin, so just change my address I’ll wait the two weeks. Two weeks later I call, and the next rep says “I see in the notes they updated it so let me initiate the change for you.” Once I see that my address has been changed on the portal, I withdraw and confirm it’s coming to my new address.
Well I get my text from UPS today that says it’s going to my old address. I called Ascensus to ask how did the address change back, the lady Dominique was rude as hell and sounded like she didn’t want to be there. As I’m explaining and asking to get an understanding of why the address change, she interrupts and says you can’t change and address with us. I’m thinking well WHYYY didn’t your other agents (not one but two agents) not tell me this and I’ve been waiting 2 weeks to get it updated. So now I have money floating out there, because of Ascensus and the lack of competence. I will be reporting this company to EBSA.

My company forced us into this 401k program. Then, when I tried to close it, they charged me $50 just to close it. Give me a break. It's all automated and they gouge you for $50 to just close you f**ing account. Large company, they don't care. Stay away.
No support - no explanation - no follow through - no human help.
There is no online support and no personal support available. I've been waiting for my tax info. Sent two inquiries called 4 times and cant get a damn human on the phone.
THIS DOES NOT make me feel good about them holding my retirement but I don't have a choice since my employer chose them.
IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE - DON'T USE THIS COMPANY.
