Outstanding! I totally recommend this company. Aston Shaw are great accountants. They have dealt with my tax return every year for the last eight years. They are always professional and go above and beyond, they are helpful and deal with any requests or issues straight away. I always feel like I am the only person that they are dealing with, a very good personal approach. Five Star Rating!

We used Aston Shaw to sort out the Capital gains tax on a property that we sold. Chris, Linda and the rest of the team were very helpful and efficient and had it all calculated in no time at all. They made the whole process very smooth and easy to follow, their fees are also extremely reasonable. Thank you.

Feel compelled to write this review as there seems to be a lot of mixed messages on here. On a personal level, I can only say positive things.
HMRC have been delaying a refund for my business with little to no communication for the best part of a year and when I shared what little (and confusing!) information they had sent me to my accountant- he made it very easy to understand and stepped in to deal with HMRC himself.
I cannot thank you enough!

As per all the other recent reviews. Since a number of key accountants have left the company and alterations to the operation with a customer care team instead of having an allocated accountant with a single point of contact the Aston Shaw service has become appalling. Our last set of accounts were filed over 6 months late resulting in a £1,500 fine from Companies House, as well as fines from HMRC for late filing and being informed how much we needed to pay. My recent complaint emails have not even been replied to and despite having been a customer for over 10 years I have terminated services for both of my companies. Having checked Companies House, they are even late filing there own accounts which says it all! Avoid at all costs
I have been a customer of Aston Shaw for 10 years. They used to be excellent but company procedures have changed, and clients now deal with the 'client relationship team'. I used the company twice in recent months and in both cases this resulted in communication problems between the client and the accountant, as some of my messages were not passed to the accountant. This led to very large mistakes (200% higher in one case) in the tax calculations. The second time I used the firm, the tax was also incorrectly calculated because of another email that did not get to the right person. I spotted both mistakes and asked them to correct the calculations. They did so, but I ended up having to pay a large sum of money for work that I felt I could have done myself in the same amount of time it took me to work with the accountants. I also felt that a less savvy person would have just paid the wrong tax without noticing. I made a complaint, and asked for a discount, but this request was refused on the grounds that the accountants had spent a lot of time on my cases. The company needs to return to a system with direct contact between the accountant doing the calculations and the individual client in order to avoid these problems. Or they need to ensure that every email from every client is passed to the right accountant.

I've been with aston shaw for years. The service has been ok but recently I've been demoted to not having an accountant look after me and the service has been appaling. They recently missed filing my company accounts not once but twice!! I was left to pay a £100 fine then another £375 fine. All phone calls were not returned. Emails took weeks to reply to. The whole office was closed the whole week after Christmas when this was going on. They just don't seem to care or bother. I will be going down the legal route to recover these fines and any associated costs.
I am writing this review with great disappointment regarding my experience with Aston Shaw, an accountancy firm in Norwich. My dissatisfaction stems from their consistent failure to comply with legislation and their inability to provide the agreed-upon services.
Despite my reluctance to resort to public forums for complaints, the lack of responsiveness and action on the part of Aston Shaw has left me with no other option. I believe in giving an organisation the opportunity to rectify any issues, but unfortunately, my attempts to engage with Aston Shaw have been met with silence and neglect.
My concerns regarding Aston Shaw's non-compliance with regulatory requirements have persisted for nearly two years. Despite their awareness of these issues, there has been a complete lack of initiative on their part to address and rectify the situation.
The last communication I received from Aston Shaw was on September 13, 2023. Since then, I have made numerous attempts to contact them through phone calls and emails, to discuss and resolve these critical matters. Regrettably, all my efforts have been in vain, as I have not received a single response from Aston Shaw.
It is disheartening to witness such a lack of professionalism and disregard for client concerns. I had hoped for a constructive dialogue and a resolution to the issues at hand. However, Aston Shaw's continued silence and avoidance of responsibility have left me with no choice but to sever my relationship with them and seek the services of a more reliable accountant that is compliant to Regulatory Governance.
I urge others to carefully consider their choice of accountancy services, as my experience with Aston Shaw has been nothing short of disappointing. It is my sincere hope that sharing this review will shed light on the challenges I have faced and encourage Aston Shaw to take responsibility for their actions and lack of compliance, and improve their services for the benefit of their clients.
You can see by my previous review of this company how different things are from when I initially instructed them 18 months ago.
Been with Aston Shaw for over 15 years and unfortunately the last 3/4 the advise and professional services have gone from bad to worse to terrible.
Raised disappointment and concerns with a Snr Director, feel it would have been easier to get to speak with the Pope, received a curt reply from “The Customer Services Team”.
Impersonal and in my opinion unprofessional so voted with my feet and have moved accountants, very dissatisfied with every aspect of this firm and will not be using them again.
I can run through multiple failings, incorrect advice, late submissions and even the ability to answer the telephone all of which they fail on. But the “have moved accountants” is probably the best statement to cover my dissatisfaction.
They called told me to claim go the guaranteed way you’re going to get 4029 take off 30 % I ended up with 137.27 that’s it I have letters from HMRC telling me that they have paid this I would like to add them over a year later they are still fobbing me off and had the cheek to ask if I would do it again I have extensive conversations about the claim as if I was going to receive only 137.27 while they get thousands I would have said no these think they have a good reputation but they are con merchants I just wish I could add the emails and information I have from them for all to see
Not worth it the amount they keep isn’t worth you putting in a claim and out of 4000 I have only received 327.79 so far they got the money from HMRC in April you get a letter from HMRC to tell you this but as far as using these guys very poor
From what I can see below your R&D Claim is £4,019.93.
They have then charged you £2,400 to do the return plus a guaranteed fee of £482.39. It is not clear whether their fees include or exclude VAT, I would assume the fees below will exclude VAT and as such there will be another 20% added onto there fees. I think this would only leave a balance of £561.07 due to, which seems slightly odd given the claim value.
Frankly since Dominic Shaw left heading the company suddenly March this year the company has fell into disarray .
Unable to contact staff and no callbacks.
After deciding to move both of my companies after 20plus years, Aston Shaw have simply ignored requests from my new accountant and just continue to send bills . I wouldn’t recommend.
