Always subjective if a change of component improves the sound, or just changes it. I feel that this is an improvement over the basic felt mat, and I have experienced far less static, which is probably the biggest improvement. Tried all sorts of things over the years on different Rega turntables and arms. Most of them are a waste of time and money, including an expensive acrylic platter that went on eBay after 100 hours plus of use.
