Bacteriostatic water plays a crucial role in pharmaceuticals applied by injections and is a way of preserving safety standards in patient care. Simply put, it’s a sterile, non-pyrogenic water (non-pyrogenic means a substance is free from fever-causing substances) which contains a bacteriostatic agent (in our case, that’s benzyl alcohol in the concentration of 0.9% - 9 mg/ml). What bacteriostatic water does is it ensures the injected substance remains uncontaminated by bacteria during the application. It effectively prevents bacterial growth, hence the name “bacteriostatic”. Since bacteriostatic water is not tied to any individual compound (that’s being applied), it has a widespread medicine usage - it’s used to dilute and administer both intramuscular and intravenous injections. Of course, it does not only dilute the drug, it maintains its sterility during usage.

Good Product but Overpriced
Overall fast shipping and easy ordering process. Only reason for 4 stars is that the Hospira 30 mL bacteriostatic water is quite overpriced compared to other sites. Other than that, very reputable and responsive company!
