About us
Family run for three generations, Beattys celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2011; having first opened our doors in 1931. We began trading as a small grocery, hardware, and grain store on Church Street, Loughrea. Our longevity can be primarily attributed to the ongoing support of the local community and our staff’s dedication to providing exceptional advice, value, and service to our valued customers
The team of more than 40 staff at Beattys has a wealth of experience and product knowledge. Over half of the staff members have been working in Beattys for 15 years or more.
Our Stores
Beattys has two separate locations in Loughrea, Co. Galway. The Station Road premises is a fully stocked builders’ merchant with plumbing, bathroom, timber flooring, and hire departments as well as a complete range of agricultural feeds and fertiliser. The Main Street/Church Street premises is a 15,000 square feet retail outlet stocking an extensive range in each of the following departments: housewares, interior furnishing, electrical, DIY, toys, paint, and gardening. To ensure we have the best prices possible, we are part of 3 buying groups, Topline hardware, Euronics Electrical, and Toymaster. We endeavor to stock many interesting and unique products, especially in the housewares and interior furnishing departments. If you’re looking for something different, we have it.
Local Community
We show our appreciation to the Loughrea community for this ongoing support by engaging in fundraising efforts, and we regularly host fun events for our customers. In 2013 we organised a Shave or Dye event where 35 people either shaved off or dyed their hair on the night in Beattys, raising more than €10,000 for the Irish Cancer Society.

I purchased a beautiful lava lamp online and had it collected at the store. The processes was smooth and seamless from start to finish and the item was on sale so good value too! This store has some lovely bits for gifts etc. Be sure to browse......

New electric blanket
Really delighted with our new electric blanket and a great price too.
Unfortunately An Post lost the original package & Beattys webstore immediately sent out a replacement by DPD when notified.

Excellent as always
Ordered Schleich animals, one was out of stock, was immediately sent an email and refunded for same. Order arrived very quickly. Will definitely order from Beattys again, as I have done now many times.

I ordered a red plug in candle on a…
I ordered a red plug in candle on a log and it was packed very carelessly as the bulb was smashed to pieces. Phoned Beatty's shop and a very helpful girl on reception (sorry I should have got her name ) said she would replace it straight away and it arrived safe and sound in the next post. It was close to Christmas and feel it may have been seasonal staff that was the problem. All said and done it was much admired over Christmas and I fully understand these things happen but just wanted to give you this constructive criticism so it will be helpful to your business forcthe future.

4th December 25, arrived 15th December 25. Beautiful decoration, we hung it above our front door with lit up garlands for Christmas. Good price, very sturdy frame, well packaged, friendly helpful staff when I checked up on the order.
