Customer service !!!!

Customer service is top notch! To be able to text them during the week to ask the questions and receive responses promptly is quite impressive . There are many dash cams to chose from but they helped me chose the right one for my needs.

Was not upfront with information for total cost - unethical fraudulent business - buyer beware

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at BlackboxMyCar and feel compelled to warn others.

When I originally purchased my dashcam, the sales staff clearly told me I would only need to buy a hardwire kit in addition to paying for installation labour. There was absolutely no mention of needing to purchase a separate battery. However, on the day of installation, I was suddenly informed that I would have to buy an additional battery—almost the same cost as the dashcam itself—because it would otherwise shut down overnight due to the hybrid battery system in my 2020 Honda Accord Hybrid.

This is critical information that should have been disclosed upfront. Had I been told the full cost from the beginning, I would have explored more affordable alternatives instead of being put in a position where I felt pressured to proceed after the fact.

To make matters worse, the installer mounted the front camera directly behind my rearview mirror. I specifically prefer to be able to see the dashcam while driving, not have it completely obstructed. Because the installer left the premises before I had the opportunity to inspect the vehicle, what should have been a straightforward two-hour installation turned into a frustrating four-and-a-half-hour ordeal.

Between the lack of transparency, the unexpected added costs, and the careless installation process, this experience was unacceptable. I strongly advise others to think twice before trusting this business with their vehicle and money.
Also, the dashcam was only discounted $25 & not heavily discounted as suggested in their reply.
Do not waste your time with this business.
Spend your money wisely with a reputable business somewhere else.
Buyer beware with BlackBoxMyCar.

Hi Rudy,

A hardwire kit is all that is needed to enable parking mode. A battery pack is not required. When you came in and explained your use case, including overnight parking mode and concerns like hit and runs, we suggested a battery pack as an optional add on and explained the added cost before proceeding. It was presented as a choice, not a requirement, and the install could have been completed with hardwiring alone.

On the mounting position, we went over placement before the install started. After you returned and told us you preferred to see the camera while driving, we accommodated the change the same day as soon as the installer was available.

We also recognized the experience was more frustrating than it should have been. Your original order was already heavily discounted, and we increased your discount further as a goodwill gesture. We can’t waive labour entirely.

We take feedback seriously, but the claim that we are an unethical or fraudulent business is not accurate.

Hi Rene,

The LTE module in your order was the North American version, and the product listing notes it only works with North American SIM cards and carriers. Since your order was shipped to Germany, that regional limitation was the core issue.

We stayed engaged throughout, reviewed the details with the manufacturer, and responded over an extended period. Even though the order was outside our standard return window, we still approved a one-time goodwill return of the LTE module to help resolve the matter.

We understand you were unhappy with the outcome, but the claim that we are a fraudulent company is not accurate.

Dead product. No refund.

They sent me a dead product and won't refund me for it.

Update: My bank ended up reversing the charge for me.

We weren’t able to locate an order or support history from the limited information shown in the review, so we can’t confirm the specifics from our side. That said, when customers contact us directly with an order number, we do work to troubleshoot quickly and arrange a warranty replacement or refund when it’s eligible.

We’re glad to see your update that your bank reversed the charge so you were not left out of pocket. If you ever want us to look into what happened, feel free to reach out with your order number or the email used at checkout.
