Beware of Bloomsbury Manor: A Terrible Experience with a Cartier engagement Ring with unable to authentication.
I want to share my awful experience with Bloomsbury Manor so others don’t fall victim to the same scam. My partner purchased a Cartier ring for me via eBay from Bloomsbury Manor, paying $12,000 AUD. However, Cartier in Sydney assessed my ring and unable to proof it is from Cartier. Of course, Cartier wouldn’t give any documentation as it is not theirs.
When I confronted the seller, they refused to accept Cartier’s assessment, claiming that Sydney Cartier wouldn’t recognize it because it was "vintage." They insisted on a paid authentication service from Cartier in the UK instead—an unnecessary step since Cartier boutiques anywhere in the world can authenticate their own pieces for free.
After a long, frustrating email exchange, Bloomsbury Manor reluctantly agreed to refund me only if I returned the ring. However, instead of honoring their word, they escalated the case through eBay, clearly trying to avoid issuing a refund. Thankfully, eBay ruled in our favor and refunded us directly—NOT the seller. This says everything about Bloomsbury Manor’s business practices.
I strongly urge anyone considering buying from them to think twice. If you have already purchased jewelry from them, take it to a Cartier boutique for a free valuatio

We are disappointed to read your review, as it contains several inaccuracies that we feel compelled to address for the benefit of our customers and to protect our reputation.
Authenticity of the Vintage Cartier Ring:
As you know, we have now had the ring authenticated at Cartier in London. We have provided you with a copy of the documentation from Cartier confirming this, validating our original appraisal of the ring.
You have stated that you took the ring to a Cartier boutique in Sydney for a free in-store authentication. Cartier do not offer such a service; we provided you with an email from Cartier Australia confirming this.
When you wrote to us saying that Cartier Sydney did not recognise the ring, we explained to you that authentication cannot be offered in store for free but only as part of a service request which we offered to undertake on your behalf using Cartier in London. Initially, we offered this at a reduced cost (inclusive of shipping to and from Australia). On 12th March we amended our offering to make it completely free of charge. As an alternative we offered a full refund. Your partner declined, taking full advantage of our 30-day full refund policy.
Cartier do not have a full in-store digital record of vintage serial numbers as they have been creating jewellery since 1847. Additionally, sales staff are not trained to authenticate vintage pieces; authentication requires workshop evaluation by Cartier as was carried out in London.
Refund and eBay Case:
At no point did we refuse your partner’s refund request. We processed the refund immediately, on the same day the ring arrived in our office. Due to a technical error, eBay incorrectly informed you that we had initiated a case against you. On realising the error, we immediately contacted eBay (on March 27, 2025), to rectify this misinformation. Since then, eBay has acknowledged their mistake, confirming in writing that we both facilitated the return and refunded you. You have a copy of this confirmation from eBay.
The claims your partner made in his feedback were judged contradictory and defamatory when published on eBay. That is why his feedback was removed by eBay (not by us).

I have bought and sold an item from Bloomsbury. Very professional service. The sale was for a very unusual and expensive piece of jewellery from Tiffany. I got an honest appraisal as to to the length of time it would take to sell, and encouragement to stick with their recommended sales price, which we achieved. Highly recommended.
