I recently needed carpal tunnel surgery, and as a self-employed person in the UK, I found the three-year NHS wait time unacceptable. The unhelpful and rude treatment I experienced only made things worse.

In Turkey, my experience was entirely different, from my first contact with Sezen. Communication was efficient, friendly, and professional throughout. After researching several surgeons, I found Dr. Bora, who was highly recommended. Amazingly, I was given procedure dates just three days after my initial contact.

I quickly booked flights and headed off to Izmir. The people there were lovely, the hospitals were spotless, and they honoured my appointment time. When I arrived, the nurse conducting my diagnostic test excused herself to get the consultant. Within five minutes, the consultant joined me, apologising for the “delay”—a stark contrast to the 12-hour wait I once endured for a consultation in a UK A&E.

I underwent surgery with Dr. Bora under local anesthetic. He was incredibly skilled, knowledgeable, and meticulous. The entire process, from consultation to surgery, took about two hours, and I was back at my hotel for a nice meal and a restful sleep that same day.

Many people in the UK are hesitant about traveling abroad for medical procedures, but do yourself a favour—skip the NHS backlog and go where the system truly works.

I flew to Turkey on the 17/10/2024 with my son Guy and our friend Sabrina. My purpose was a double knee replacement. I was feeling slightly apprehensive but we received a very warm welcome at the airport from Sezen and her team. Sezen was our constant and excellent companion for the week. She dealt quickly and efficiently with any issue that arose. We were taxied to a pre-booked hotel where we spent a comfortable night prior to admission to the hospital on the following day. Transfer to the hospital was arranged by Sezen for 9.45am and was exactly punctual (I love punctuality, it makes me feel I am in safe hands when things happen as expected)
Payment for my operation was smooth and easy, my earlier worries about this aspect proved to be completely without need.
I spent the next four or five hours undergoing various tests to confirm that I was fit enough to undergo the procedure. My operation was planned for 3.45 pm and that is exactly when it began. I opted for epidural with sedation rather than general anaesthetic. This is personal choice but the benefits of each option were fully explained to me by the anaesthetist. I slept through almost all of the operation only waking at the end as I was being stitched up.
The operations were a complete success and I was up and walking on the following day with the help of a frame.
During the days that followed my operations I benefited greatly from the excellent care which was undoubtedly superior to any that I have experienced previously. My surgeon, Dr Bora visited me twice every day during my stay. I found him to be extremely pleasant and professional he was able to answer all of my questions. His obvious concern for and care about his patient was very comforting indeed. Prior to his visits, medical observations would be taken by the very friendly and professional nursing team. The results of the tests would be discussed with me at each meeting. The whole procedure gave me a feeling of confidence that I was in the best possible hands.
There was a very good physiotherapy plan for the week. They have a remarkable machine which rotates each leg and slowly increased the range of motion . This was supplemented by visits from an outstanding physiotherapist who was able to address and rectify any concerns. By the end of the week I was able to bend each leg through 110 degrees. The aftercare that I received was truly outstanding. I am now just thirteen days post operation and I am walking confidently with my crutches. Each day brings further improvement, I am very optimistic for the future thanks to this excellent team of professionals.

Hip Replacement.

I received a recommendation from a colleague who had both hips replacement. I contacted a lady Sezen who was polite and spoke very good English. We arranged a meeting with the Doctor to discuss my issues and review my MRI Scan. The Doctor went through the the scan explaining the issues of my hip. After discussing our meeting with my wife we decided to go ahead with the operation. The operation took longer than expected. We stayed in hospital for 3 nights 4 days. After the operation we received support and numerous messages asking about progress and follow up discussion’s. I would definitely with no hesitation recommend the Doctor and his team to friends and colleagues.

While I was on holiday to izmir in Turkey I had looked into having carpal tunnel surgery on my hand, I had found this company through Google search and saw they had great reviews, so after no time at all I got messaging the company and 15 minutes later I had arranged to go in that same afternoon to have the surgery, once I had arrived i was made to feel very comfortable I met the surgeon and his assistant straight away, he explained the procedure the healing time and my expectations, after I confirmed I was happy to go ahead, the operation itself went very smoothly and within 1/2 an hour I was in the taxi back to my holiday hotel,

From first contact with Sezen to the operation took only 8 days, i was a bit apprehensive going to Turkey for a knee operation but Sezen the Dr Bora soon put my mind at ease. the staff at Medicana hospital were wonderful, i am now at home 9 days after the operation and fairly pain free. would i recommend Dr Bora? Yes. Would i use again? Yes.

I chose Dr Bora for a Bilateral Knee Replacement as I came over from the UK. I was on the waiting list for 8 years and couldn't take the pain any longer. I decided to go private and I am very happy with the results. The Dr was so attentive checking in on me twice a day for the week. Very helpful and answered all of my questions. Made me feel that I had made the correct choice and would definitely recommend him and his staff. Hospital staff were so nice and accommodating a few language barriers at times but used Google translator, and this helped. If you are thinking about a knee replacement, definitely check out Dr Bora as he is a great surgeon. My scar is looking alot better than I actually thought it would be. I have to keep in touch to let him know how my walking is and send him some videos to show my progress. Can't thank him enough for getting my life back.

I went to see Dr Alpaydın after suffering two years of pain from a unsuccessful hip replacement. I was in a wheelchair. After Dr Alpaydın operated. And replaced the hip I was pain free. I have lived a full life ever since. Thank you Dr Alpaydın. That was in may 2015.

In January and October of 2022 under the expertise of ... Dr Bora Serifhan Alpaydin and his team I underwent 2 hip replacements. The results have been amazing. Being an active guy of 62 who loves watersports hiking and mountain biking Dr Bora has given me a new lease of life, to enjoy again that which had previously become impossible without pain in both hips.
The technique and skills of his team, under his direction, are to be applauded. I owe him a great deal ....
