BrightVPN has a net_updater32.exe that constantly makes connections to suspicious sites in the background. Thanks to Bitdefender they are being flagged and stopped. Thanks to Revouninstaller I removed it including the leftover junk. There is definitely something fishy with this VPN.

I have Bright VPN installed on a windows 11 pc.
So this review is going to be all over the place
I use it to acess Tubi Tv maiinly as I am not in the states.
Just turned it on,
I have to change display settings of my computer to see it. I have computer attached to tv. So my display is at 150. Had to change it to 125 to see where to turn on Bright to change loction
It doesn't fool the BBC Iplayer website.
But that's ok for me . I generally use it for American sites like Tubi and I can watch youtube free movies with it. I don't have netflix now. But I remember before you could use Bright to change your location to a diffeent country.
I have installed it and reinstalled it at least once. I think it was slowing down my downloads or something. I can't remember.
That seems to be resolved.
A comment on two comments here, (1) Someone said they wanted to unstall it, but could not find it in programs and features. It was in mine.
Someone else said they paid a subscription. Really?. Its feee.

One of those free VPN that I often use. It's available as a browser extension, as well as apps for Windows, Android, Mac and even TV. The VPN is very fast. The interface is very simple, with nothing unnecessary - which is a big plus. I don't feel any load on the operating system while it's running. Compared to other VPNs, it doesn't have a huge number of locations, but I really like that you can contact support and request a needed location to be added - that's awesome. Connecting to locations is very fast. You can switch locations on the fly without disconnecting the VPN. For me, the available locations are more than enough to cover my needs.
Cons: There are occasional server-side iddues - the VPN can disconnect during use or fail to connect for some time.
Earlier, the VPN worked as just a browser extension. It was very convenient that it didn't affect the whole system. That meant you could use another browser without the VPN and access websites normally. Now, when installing the browser extension, you are required to install the desktop app as well, which makes the VPN apply to the entire operating system. As a result, you constantly have to turn it off where it's not needed
When trying to install the downloaded APK on a Samsung A51, the device marks it as a suspicious file. After installing it at your own risk, the VPN keeps crashing every time you try to log in. You have to reinstall it constantly as a "suspicious file". There are also far fewer locations compared to the regular versions. Despite these significant drawbacks, I would still rate this VPN 5 out of 5.

Paid my subscription but have to keep logging off and on again and even then, I still keep getting the subscription page. It’s unreliable, unstable and a waste of money. Steer clear and go for better options

When installing, the program immediately warns that the computer will be used as a botnet. If you do not agree, the program will not be installed. It's quite long and tedious to remove it. And I'm not 100% sure that it can be removed completely.

Uninstalled without my permission, must’ve came packaged with some software I downloaded recently.

Won’t let you uninstall though app, redirects you to FAQ page on their website…

Had to install another application that force uninstalls other applications.

If this is a legitimate VPN they need to change something soon.

Se debe instalar una aplicación en el PC además del complemento del navegador. Lo instalé y apague el complemento, supuestamente no estaba ejecutándose. Ante sugerencias en otros idiomas en Youtube, verifiqué si estaba ejecutándose y efectivamente si, tenía 8 instancias del exe de la aplicación. Se debe a que comparten las IP para brindar el servicio (tipo eMule), no obstante esto lo aclaran. Lo que no veo correcto es que se ejecuta al iniciar Windows por lo que no importa si se está usando como complemento o no.

I have installed a docking program for desktop shortcuts (Start11 I think it is called). BrightVPN was installed alongside of it without me being asked. This is suspicious, and unethical. Advertise it to me in the installer, or at least, ASK, forcibly installing software is hypocritical compared to what they claim on their site.

If I found it by any other means I would have installed it myself as it seems awesome & legit, their site professional & explains what they do well.

But again, they forcibly installed this.
Could I have missed it somehow, in the installer? I am usually quite thorough & prudent. Maybe the mistake is mine?

My internet has not slowed and it seems legit,though another reviewer claimed they can not uninstall, which is a total red flag. 😨

I tried to, it is true.

According to BrightVPN:

"How to I uninstall BrightVPN?
To completely opt-out:

* Go to Control Panel
* Select Programs and Features
* Select Bright VPN, and hit uninstall"

I am on Windows 10, so, it is 'Apps & Features', but Bright VPN is hidden from the list there. Going to the old control panel does not show them either.

Argh, storms. I guess this is mining data or something? 😤

I have sent them an email.
Maybe it is an error?
Perhaps I am being naïve? 😔🤔

PS: The VPN does seem to work though. I have set it to Canda & the TrustPilot site asked me whether I want to go to their Canadian version of the site.

--- Though that could be BrightVPN modifying the site to deceive. There is that too. Yeah, probably. Why would there be a separate Canadian site, the language is nearly the same, with only a few grammatical differences.

Scammers and hackers installed their VPN on my pc without my permission + I don't even know how it happened + I can't even uninstall it !!!
They also have an office in Israel, so beware!! might be related to Mossad
