My return experience

I am writing regarding my recent purchase.
I took advantage of a “buy one, get one free” promotion and received my order within a reasonable timeframe. However, after trying the items on, I found that they did not fit properly and requested a return.
I was then informed that I could return the items only if I prepaid customs and return shipping. This came as a surprise, as I believed I was purchasing from a company operating within Canada. The quoted return cost was approximately $43, which is quite high considering I paid $70 for both shirts.
I was then offered an exchange if I paid an additional $20 shipping fee. I agreed to this, expecting to receive two properly sized shirts in exchange for the original items. However, I was later told that I would only receive one replacement shirt because the original purchase was part of a promotion — a promotion that is still currently being advertised.
At this point, I would have paid $90 total and received only one shirt, while still being left with two shirts that do not fit. This does not seem reasonable.
I understand that sizing can be an issue when ordering online, and I take responsibility for that. However, I believe it is fair to expect clearer disclosure regarding return costs, especially if items are being shipped internationally. I also believe it would be reasonable to allow returns using a domestic shipping option, with the expectation of receiving equivalent items in exchange.
Overall, I am disappointed with how this situation has been handled. I will not make anymore purchases from this Canada store.
