CAA Unfair Practice
CAA practice of looking at driving records for 25 YEARS is just RIDICULOUS. My actual price spiked up by 26% for an accident that happened 24.5 years ago.
It's time to re-evaluate your policies CAA, the savings a customer gets is MINIMAL and NOT enough to make a significant financial difference.

Over the course of the last 3 months I had to call for a tow 3 times and each time was a nightmare . You grow old waiting for service that’s how bad it is.
I always had great things to say about CAA but after all this I probably won’t be .

I am very satisfied with the service that I received from HAMILTON CAA on Thursday February 27, 2025. I was broken down in Hamilton West End. While it took a little while for the truck to come, the operator was very professional and loaded my disabled car onto the flatbed truck and took it to my home. I was able to contact a garage that could service me on Saturday. CAA picked up my car again within the hour of me calling and took it to the Car Repair Shop on Hamilton Center. The driver was efficient and worked with the mechanic when dropping off my vehicle. I am more than satisfied. I have been a member of CAA for more than 30 years.
Berated by east indian service agent.
Long time CAA member for home and auto bundle package. I was on the phone with an agent regarding our policy when she began asking questions regarding information updates (mileage and use etc.) When I happened to mention that we had recently opened a business, her attitude changed and began berating me for the fact that CAA does not insure vehicles for commercial use and I need to immediately find another company as my vehicle insurance will be cancelled in 14 days! No "thank you for your membership" just a flat out attitude like I had committed a crime. We'll, I thought what a slap in face from a so called reputable company. She should have been more helpful than blameful. Well, guess what, I cancelled our home policy and got a CHEAPER policy through a local broker. CAA needs to hire more qualified customer service agents with canadian values.
CAA Travel insurance - Do not purchase if you intend to submit a claim
CAA Travel insurance is reasonably priced, until you need to complete a claim. They request documents that are unheard of and when you submit the documents, 3 months later they are again asking for the same type of document. I will not purchase travel insurance from CAA again. I have learned my lesson that the claim process is unbelievably long.
Successful Rescue!
CAA was very timely (arrived in about 12 minutes instead of the 80 (yikes!) I'd been told to expect). I was in Ancaster so the CAA tow truck was from the Hamilton area. Jordan was so pleasant and equally competent. He was able to free my van from the huge curb which hadn't been clearly marked and was partially snow covered. He even checked the undercarriage for any apparent damage, which, thankfully seemed to be alright. Thank you, CAA & Jordan!

Boycott CAA – Absolutely Horrible Service!
If you’re willing to wait over five hours for a tow with zero updates, then CAA is for you. Otherwise, stay far away.
Yesterday, I called for battery service when my battery light came on. The technician arrived, checked the battery, and determined it was actually an alternator issue. He called for a tow on our behalf around 1:00–1:30 PM, telling us it would arrive in about 30 minutes.
I waited. And waited. No tow ever showed up.
By 3:30 PM, I still had no updates, so I reached out via live chat—twice—hoping to get an estimated arrival time. The response? "Keep checking for updates." That’s it. No ETA, no explanation, nothing helpful. If you can't even provide an estimate, maybe you should hire more staff instead of leaving customers stranded.
By 5:00 PM, after over four hours of waiting, we still had no tow, no update, and no real customer service. My partner had to leave work early to come pick me up, along with our three-month-old baby, and drive through traffic to pick up our daughter from daycare.
While driving, we called CAA, hoping to get someone who actually cared. The representative (I think her name was Katy or Cassy) was completely useless and clearly didn’t care about her job. When we said we were cancelling our membership after 13 years, her response? "Okay, go ahead." No attempt to resolve the situation, no apology—just total indifference.
We asked if they could at least arrange the tow for 8:00 PM, since my partner now had to drive 100 km home, drop me and the kids off, and then go back to where my car was. Her response? "No, we can’t."
So my partner drove 100 km back to my car, waited another hour for the tow to finally arrive, then had to drive another 100 km home. He finally got home at 10:30 PM and had to wake up at 4 AM for work.
Absolutely unacceptable. CAA doesn’t care about its customers. It’s also American-owned, not Canadian. We’re leaving CAA for Canadian Tire’s service—at least they’re Canadian-owned and might actually care.
Save yourself the stress. Avoid CAA at all costs.

member since 2005 and used its towing…
member since 2005 and used its towing services just 4 times. After a 4 hrs wait during -14c temp, while was given an estimate of 60-90mins on a non-rush hour (9:15pm), clear night with no rain/snow/ice, and no way to communicate with them on status, this is not just incompetent, but a blatant lie for its ability to service. IMO, it is a SCAM. AVOID them! they are incapable of performing at time when it matters.

CAA IS THE WORST EVER!!!
CAA IS THE WORST EVER!!!! I’m from Newmarket and drove down to Toronto at around 4:30pm to pick up a family member. On the southbound Don Valley Parkway my car started making noise so I quickly tried to get off at the nearest exit and my car ended up breaking down on a side street in Toronto. Called CAA right away - said they’d be there in 71min. Called back 80min later and they said they still hadn’t even assigned a driver and it’ll be another hour. Mind you this is the middle of February and i’m freezing in my car.
Waited another hour freezing to death. Nobody came. Called back and still no driver even assigned to my case. Told me it could be another 2 hours due to a backup. I called a family member to come get me who drove 1hr30min to come get me. My family member arrived to get me and still nothing.
As i’m writing this it is now 1:25am the following morning and my car has been sitting on a side street in Toronto since 4:30pm yesterday. I just called again and still no driver assigned. Looked on the website and their website says the wait time for a tow in Toronto is 110min - LIARS CAUSE MY CAR HAS BEEN THERE FOR 9 HOURS NOW!!!!

They refused to pay us back even though we had coverage. I will tell everyone I meet and who talks about traveling that this is a bad investment.

Tried to get a tow yesterday and waited from 213-430. I told them my mechanic closes at 5 so it HAD to be here by 430 and they FAILED.
CALLED AGAIN AT 8 this morning and waited 3.5 hours after being told 60-75 mins. Then they had the audacity to say it won’t be for 24 hours even after I EXPLAINED IM A CAREGIVER TO MY GMA AND SOLE FAMILY CAR OWNER SO IT HAD TO BE ASAP. NOONE CARED!!! After being told by CAA to use another tow service and they’ll reimburse I found someone who gave me a 60 min wait time. Caa shud use locals wen overloaded but they refuse and wouldn’t prioritize me based on my gma OR the fact that my mechanic closes at 5 and isn’t in on weekends.
Idk y I have CAA if this is how they treat people. I’ll find another service wen my year is up.

Everyone - use ur caa free toss up by calling for tows wen drunk instead of driving home to get ur moneys worth!!! (Just do it in summer or they’ll let u freeze to death before they get there!)

Absolutely incompetent and rude people
Absolutely incompetent and rude people. I’m now waiting on my 3rd CAA driver of the day because the first two “weren’t the right vehicle”. I cannot grasp why we bother having to call in and give a detailed account of the situation not once, but TWICE, if they don’t actually listen. I’ve been stuck blocking an ally way for our neighborhood’s driveways for over 4 hours. The phone service providers are useless; they have no details and speak to you like you’re a nuisance. I actually don’t know why I pay for this service. It would be less money and time to just call a private tow truck than deal with these morons.

Called for a battery boost as my car is…
Called for a battery boost as my car is stuck in my driveway, but since it's not a big enough problem, they won't come. I'm instructed to call another place and get them to deal with it, then submit a claim for reimbursement? Excuse me? I pay for your service. If I wanted a hassle, I wouldn't have purchased a membership to start with. It renews in March and it'll be CANCELLED. Gonna be switching my auto insurance too, not dealing with CAA ever again.

CAA connect device damaged my car
They sent me a CAA connect device for a discount on insurance, one specifically for my make and model. I plugged it into my car as instructed. I started having battery drain problems with my car. After $1000.00 in mechanic bills looking for what was draining my new battery, and having no car for a couple weeks, it was proven to be the device they sent me for my car.I contacted them, and they DID NOT CARE about my inconvenience or costs incurred by their faulty device.

We got a flat and hour from home. I called for a tow, they were enroute. It was dark, snowy and I had two kids with me. I left with the youngest, my older daughter, 17 years old stayed with the car as they weren't going to be long. The operator did not tell me to remain with the vehicle. When the driver arrived he refused to tow the car because i wasn't present. He left my daughter, on the side of the road in tears now. What kind of man does that! I called and they reissued a truck, but by now it was over a 2 hour wait. What a nightmare. Not very happy with caa right now.

Be Careful about Automatic Membership Renewal
CAA said that I signed up for automatic renewal and they have sent me renewal notice by email every year. However I have never received those emails that they said they have sent to me although I received other emails from CAA. So, my membership, which I did not need it and did not know I have it was renewed for 3 years without my knowledge until my credit card has expired and they cannot take money from it anymore.

I had regular 2500series truck
I had regular 2500series truck, agent told me my truck is covered. and Tow driver came and tells me my truck is commercial and he won't tow it. I told him there is no sticker or Logo and on the ownership or nothing in the back of my truck it's registered under my name not a company. and he said he can do it private $400 for 15min drive. this is kind of scam guys, you call caa driver shows up and says it's commercial caa won't do it and make you pay higher price because you're stuck on the road and vulnerable. never buying caa again.
