I would give 0 stars if I could. I started a subscription with Calmerry, but I was able to get a different service approved on my insurance before they were able to assign a counselor.
When I went to cancel my subscription, it turns out, you cannot just cancel- you must "request to cancel" which opens a ticket with the support team. I asked the support team to cancel my subscription and provide a refund as I did not ultimately use the service, and after one middling reply requesting that I detail my experience with the platform, support ghosted me and never replied back.
Only after I attempted to cancel did they suddenly find a counselor for me, I suspect because, according to their email, "Don't worry, your subscription only activates at the moment you start talking with your counselor."
My best guess is they assumed I would immediately message the counselor so they could claim I used their service. I have not.
Not only was I not allowed to get a refund, they also refused to cancel my subscription and instead the agent disappeared and never replied again. I don't know how well the services through this platform are, but I don't care- they will hold your card hostage and try to ignore you into a perpetual $200 monthly subscription with no real option to cancel. Save your money.
hilariously, the support window says "Ask us anything. We're online 24/7" yet after 3PM EST their "The team will be back" automated message changed from "Under 2 hours" to "🕒 Tomorrow"
furthermore, on their contact page they claim: " Our Calmerry support team is always ready to help:
Monday – Sunday 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM (EST) "
The whole website is littered with lies, it seems.
Perhaps whomever manages the site did not understand the meaning of "24/7."
It is possible to find a support number on their contacts page as well, "Support line: +1 (844) 740-2144 | toll-free " however no matter when you call, you receive an automated message that claims it will forward you to an agent, and after pretending to ring for about 10 seconds, it hangs up and says "no agents are available, we'll get back to you later." They dont take any information, let you record a voicemail, and of course they never call back.
I will be contacting my bank to have their charges cancelled and charged back, and further charges blocked unless they rectify this. If this isn't legally a scam, it is as close as it can legally get to being a scam.
The service is really good and my counselor is fantastic.
She has only helped me a lot with grief.
The only thing was the app was a little confusing to navigate at first and it took me a couple tries to find the scheduling tool.
But once I figured it out it was smooth sailing.
The video quality is always clear and the sessions are very impactful.
Overall a really positive experience and I'd recommend it just be prepared for a small learning curve with the tech.
Honestly speaking I was in a really dark place after an abusive relationship.
I felt broken. My therapist here has been so patient and empathetic.
She never pushes me but helps me see my own strength.
We use the video sessions to work through trauma and she gives me stuff to read from their content library which is surprisingly helpful.
I'm learning to trust myself again.
It's a slow process but i feel stronger every week.
This has been a crucial part of my healing journey
They took $250 out of my account immediately. My counselor never showed for the first 4 appointments and she cancelled the 5th and they CHARGED ME! I never spoke to anyone (other than messaging with the counselor for her to reschedule). I’ve asked for my money back and they said NO! Saying cause I messaged with the counselor it’ll cost me $180 and they’ll refund the rest. When emailing with them on how do they justify this, they replied it’s policy!…that was months ago and still nothing. I wish I had read all the other reviews with similar comments!

I get real help on Calmerry with my current therapist.
It wasn’t easy to find the right therapist, and the first one wasn’t an option, so support helped me to switch therapists, and it’s a pleasure now to work with her.
UPDATE:
After posting my review and finally getting someone at the support level to give me management’s email address, my refund was issued within 48 hours. I have been asked to reconsider leaving such a negative review by management - since the issue has been resolved in my favor.
Upon reflection, I’ve decided to leave it at 1 star but will remove the title of “TERRIBLE”. While I appreciate that someone finally helped me, it took me contacting customer service almost daily for 3 weeks, and basically demanding to speak to a manager which is not really a good sign if I am being honest. I work in customer service myself and have for a long time and know that their job is incredibly hard but the level of deflection used in my situation was pretty insulting and left me wondering how often they deflect instead of solve issues.
The idea of having therapy available in this way potentially could be really amazing for many people but I have a few suggestions.
1. DO BETTER when contracting therapists. The people I came in contact with were clearly doing this as a side hustle and didn’t really seem to give 2 sh*ts about my mental health.
2. Consider weekly payment options. Especially as an introduction to the service… this service is expensive.
3. If offering text based therapy, I would consider either lowering the cost of that service or requiring therapists to engage with more than 1 or 2 messages a week, and not with just one sentence. The fact that HIPPA prevents any monitoring of conversations creates quite a loophole for bad counseling.
4. Don’t drag out your customer service response. I was able to speak with several “support"agents regularly — but no one was actually at a level of being able to resolve the issue. That is really unacceptable, and honestly seems like a very deliberate thing. From my perspective, it felt like you were just hoping I would eventually give up.
Below is the original review:
I’ve been waiting 20 days to speak to a manager about getting a refund - being dragged through (canned) response after canned response for days.
My therapist admitted he wasn’t even paying attention to what I wrote because he was dehydrated from hiking all day. I’ve sent a screenshot of the conversation to
Management and still no answer, this company is irresponsible and terrible.

Traditional therapy was too expensive and time-consuming, but Calmerry fits my budget and my schedule. I love that I can message my therapist anytime and do video sessions when I need more support. The platform is easy to use, and the self-help tools are a great bonus. Would 100% recommend!
Today four months after my original complaint to Calmerry refunds are finally being issued. Needless to say that this has been a very frustrating experience. I was not the one who was receiving therapy. I can only imagine if I was having to deal with this issue. I reviewed Calmerry in October of 2024-My son's therapist met with him a time or two, and then said she was ill. She spoke to him once again for 20 minutes or so, then ghosted him. He reached out to her for a month and a half-- that we paid for. No response. I contacted Calmerry, explained the situation - and they gave me the royal run around. They finally responded to my review and said they would credit my credit card. It took four months and me harassing them, but they finally did.
I will give this service no stars, but 1 is the minimum to share this experience. First off all, I got no response from my therapist within the "trial 7 days for refund" they offer. Secondly, when I brought this up to customer service asking for a refund, they refused because they would not look into my chats with my therapist for proof even with my permission. So for 14 days of my service (7 of which had no service from a therapist, and after that only 5 short messages worth of "support"), they charged me for the full month. Thirdly, customer service took over 7 days to respond to each of my messages. This is such a disgrace of a company to be in the mental health field. They are not supportive when people are in fragile states, they turn the blame onto those seeking help, and do not take responsibility for their poorly run company. I left them after day 14 and will never go back.

Wish I could give negative stars. Signed up, but never used the service once. It just wasn’t for me talking online. Kept my money though. All of it. $600 for not one conversation. Seems a bit off. Do yourself a favor and get the heck away from this company. Thanks for nothing.

Calmerry helped me understand and work through my problems. My therapist was very sensitive and easy to talk to.
This company doesn’t care about anything by money. I had such a frustrating experience trying to use the app from the very start. It got to the point that it was no longer usable. Didn’t get one day that there wasn’t issues with the app and now they are unwilling to refund. I was legitimately robbed. I received zero therapy and they kept my money. Do NOT use this company!!

I have had the worst experience with this company! I started out with a counselor that didn’t communicate or respond at all. Then got matched with a new one that seemed like she was gonna be a good match but then the app completely shut down. All my messages were just a black screen. I reached out to the company to try to get things fixed because they did an update on the app that went terribly wrongs. It stayed that black screen for days with no help from the company. They then just misunderstood my frustration and canceled my subscription but never gave my money back. I’m still fighting to get over $200 back from this terrible company. Therapy turned into a nightmare and I’m even more stressed now.
They claim they refunded me but I called my bank multiple times over the last month and my bank says nothing shows from their company.
Update: the update the claim is not completely true. I didn’t get a full refund until yesterday.
I was reached out to by Nick and he was amazing. He actually seemed to care about the terrible situation that happened and got me a refund.
It did take 2 months to get it though and lots of cold messages from non caring customer service.

I've made a commitment this year to become the better me. And, as part of that commitment, I decided to try out therapy for the first time. Honestly? I am a bit skeptical when people online talk about something so much, always feels like it's just hype and too good to be true. But therapy, and calmery specificaly, exceeded all my expectations! It's very fun and simple to use, I can chat and zoom with my therapist and there are also a lot of things I can do between the sessions! The way to track progress is a fun thing, almost like Duolingo streaks lol! I don't have much to compare to, but Calmery has been a great and easy experience for a newcomer into therapy.
Upon deciding that online therapy was not the right fit for me, I contacted customer support, and the customer service team was very helpful and responsive. They offered many options and were very understanding of my situation.
My therapist wasn understanding and nice. The team was was fast to respond and I kept the same therapist after having to cancel my subscription for financal reasons till I was able to pay for the service again.
