CarmelTrail Travel Agency planned the perfect trip for us. I knew I would be spending a week in Barcelona with my son as he completed his study abroad program, and afterward we wanted to have another adventure together. I initially tried to plan that part myself, but I quickly became overwhelmed by all the logistics.

That’s when I reached out to CarmelTrail, and I’m so glad I did. They asked thoughtful, careful questions about what we were hoping for, how we like to travel, and what kind of experience would feel meaningful to us. Based on that, they designed the perfect trip to Granada and Tangier.

Everything was beautifully curated and incredibly well organized. They arranged our drivers, guides, hotels, flight, ferry, and all the important transitions along the way. We were able to simply relax and enjoy the experience, knowing that every detail had been thoughtfully handled.

Our first stop was Granada, where Armando gave us a wonderful introduction to the Old Town and the Albaicín. He brought the city’s layered history and culture to life and introduced us to Granada’s amazing tapas tradition, taking us to local bars where each drink came with delicious food from the region.

The next day, Cristina led us through an extraordinary three-hour tour of the Alhambra and Generalife gardens. She helped us understand the Alhambra as the heart of the last Islamic stronghold in Spain, with later Christian influence also visible throughout the site. The tilework, carved plaster, woodwork, arches, courtyards, water features, and gardens were breathtaking.

From Granada, we continued to Tangier, where Khalid and his driver took incredible care of us for two days. Khalid guided us through the old city, including the kasbah, souks, mosques, ancient Jewish neighborhood and synagogue, American Legation, and many other meaningful sites. He was a true treasure trove of information and also helped with restaurant recommendations, bargaining tips, and a beautiful handwoven rug.

On our second day in Tangier, we visited the lighthouse where the Mediterranean and Atlantic meet, the Hercules Caves, and other beautiful places. Morocco’s love of soccer made the trip even more joyful, especially since my son and I love soccer too.

Granada and Tangier were extraordinary, and CarmelTrail made the entire experience feel seamless, personal, rich, and stress-free. I’m so grateful and highly recommend them.

I reached out to Samuel for my second trip to Spain with them this year (My husband and I had a wonderful trip with them 10 years ago). CaramelTrail organized a 10 day trip for me and my son. It was one of the most amazing trips I have done. Perfectly catered to the needs of an 8 year old and well coordinated. It took all the thinking out of the travel and I could focus on just having a great time. It was a truly personalized experience. From guides to hotels to logistics, everything was spot-on. Our favorite spots were Ronda, Seville and Barcelona! My son loved the tile workshops that he found for us.

12 days in Spain were nothing short of spectacular. Angela was a treasure- she helped us custom plan our time in Barcelona, Seville and Malaga. We knew very little about Spain, so it took some time to come up with the perfect itinerary. While we had a short time frame for our Carameltrail part of our trip, Samuel called me personally to find out exactly what we were looking for, a great touch. We worked with Carameltrail for custom design a tour of Portugal for 4 people, and in short summary they excelled our expectations. We visited several cities including Porto, Evora, Coimbra, Fatima, Algarve province, and Lisbon. They took care of all the details of the trip to include airport transfers, hotels, gastronomy and tour guides. We basically flew into the country and they took care of the land portion of the trip. They remained in constant communication during the trip and answered all questions promptly. All of their tour guides and car/van drivers were professional and were able to communicate in English (and in Spanish also), and also to give us good tips about local activities and restaurants. Several experiences were tailored made for our trip, such as hiking through a vineyard in the Duoro region, a gastronomic tour of Porto, and a nice Sunday drive through the beaches of Algarve, among others. Our driver was excellent and made suggestions on the spot for our lunches, dinners, spots for sightseeing and photography.

The trip was a surprise to my wife and it turned out magical due to Caramel Trail’s team, especially Angela. She listened closely and in turn created/curated an itinerary that brought many memorable experiences to the both of us over a 10 day period. Caramel trail planned some fantastic outings and was available 24/7 throughout our entire trip to assist with questions, problems, recommendations, etc. We made a trip to a beautiful winery outside of Sam Sebastian which absolutely fantastic. We also visited a family owned sheep farm in France, which was worth the drive.

This trip was exceptional from start to finish. Every detail felt intentional, especially the hotel selections. Each one was spot-on and elevated the entire experience.

The sheep farm in southern France was a standout. Peaceful, authentic, and something I’ll remember for a long time. It added a completely different dimension to the trip that you just don’t get from typical itineraries.

The visit to the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao was pure magic. It’s one of those places that lives up to the hype and then some—absolutely not to be missed.
And the hike was incredible. Beautiful, energizing, and the perfect balance to everything else.
