Beware of faulty items but great customer service.
The item was meant to be an Amazon return but the item that arrived was obviously very well used and did not work at all. A power tools repair engineer took it apart and confirmed that the item was more than 6 months old and beyond economic repair so it was binned.
I think Amazon only except returns upto one month from purchase so where did my item come from. All auction sites cover themselves in there Ts&Cs so buyers beware. Since typing the above I have heard back from George at customer services and they have sorted the matter out in a satisfactory manner. It’s nice to deal with a company who appear to try and keep there customers happy.

I’ve had a really positive experience with Castles Auction. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What stands out is the balance in their listings — they include a stock image for reference, but also provide multiple photos of the actual item, which gives real confidence in what you’re bidding on.
The bidding process itself was smooth and straightforward, no issues or friction along the way. And importantly, their postage costs are fair and not inflated like you often see with larger auction houses.

Castlers auctions work great for clued up buyers
What people need to realise is that you're buying predominantly returned items. So expect faults. I bought a wet/dry hand held vacuum cleaner which was dead. I opened it up and a wire had become unsoldered probably a factory fault. I've soldered it and now it works great. Other Electrical items will work fine but may be missing parts out of the box. If you're confident at repairing then fill your boots! if not don't buy electronic returns.

Mixed - a couple of auctions for USB C sticks, for car music. One lot effectively fell to bits upon unpacking. Other lot seems ok so far. I would be wary of buying electronics in future without confirmation of functionality. Pays you money, takes your chance i suppose.

Just be wary
Just be wary. Some good deals to be had, but a fairly high % of electronics will be non functional as they were returned for a reason. I've stopped buying electronics from Castlers for this reason, have lost significant money on a few items (of course they were the expensive ones!). Inspection beforehand recommended but obviously not practical for most. Hardware usually absolutely fine, but they don't sell much hardware these days sadly.

Because a significant portion of our catalogue is raw customer returns, a higher fault rate on some electronics is unfortunately possible, and we completely understand how frustrating that can be when it happens on higher-value items.
Since your experience, we’ve continued to review our electronics offerings with our sellers/partners, and where we identify recurring issues we take steps to improve clarity and bidder outcomes. This includes reducing repeat-problem stock where appropriate and applying clearer condition notes as we outlined in our email communication.
We also agree with your point on inspection, when it’s practical, viewing lots in person is the best way to bid with full confidence, on any of our raw returns offerings.
We also will increase the number of home improvement and hardware offerings soon, with toys also recently being offered at our latest auctions.

I've bought a couple of electronic…
I've bought a couple of electronic items from them and the process has been simple and painless. Shipping costs are reasonable.
I've been lucky in that the items I bought have all worked. Not something that is certain! I limit my bids to lower amounts because of that uncertainty. Always difficult with electronics, because even if I inspected it before bidding, can be difficult to be certain it's fully operational.
