Rotten steak
I hate doing reviews but here I am. Once in a while I like to spoil myself with a nice piece of steak and it is now the fourth time in a row I purchased steak that was rotten!.

I love checkers so much sp that even if fnb in poor taste does not teward pur purchases for over a year now. ..i contimue to shop there. If is infinitrly better than spar, or pick and pay...in variety, prices and customer support.

Spoiled meat

Checkers has become dangerous to public health. I hope the authorities inspect this place.
They are selling spoiled meat. Completely spoiled and smelly, and this is within its expiration date.

10 April at night I bought some Beef Ricanha meat, with expiration date of April 18th of this year.
I opened the meat at home and it smelled bad, very spoiled. I went back to complain and left a written complaint.
We noticed because it smelled bad, imagine if it were spoiled and odorless. People could get sick and even die.
I will do my best to spread to everyone so that people don't buy meat from Checkers.
Customer satisfaction at all time low.
Checkers mimosa has long lines and tills close at tge height of the crisis. No customer service anymore. Checkers has become to big for it clients.

Checkers bad service
I would like to raise a complaint about my experience at Checkers Jeffreys Bay. (Da Gama road)
When I arrived to order four rib burgers, the two staff members on duty did not really acknowledge me. Instead, they were openly complaining to each other about being overworked. I understand that work can be stressful, but it is still important to acknowledge customers with something as simple as “I’ll be with you shortly.”
After eventually being assisted, we placed our order and waited quite a long time. When we received the burgers and returned to the car, we discovered that all four rib patties were undercooked. The texture and taste made it clear that the meat was not properly cooked.
We returned to the counter politely and asked whether the burgers could be redone or if we could rather choose something else. While the food was being remade, the staff member complained about us to her colleagues in front of us, saying that the burgers “looked fine” to her.
When she handed the new order to us, she spoke very rudely and said “Hier. Dis klaar. Next time gee ons nie nuwes as julle dit weer terug bring nie.” This was extremely unprofessional and made us feel unwelcome and disrespected as customers. As if we were the ones that made the mistake where in fact she was wrong and did not apologise.
This experience was disappointing, both in terms of food quality and customer service. I believe this matter should be addressed, as customers should not be treated this way.
I hope management can take this feedback seriously and ensure better service in the future.

The worst Customer Service
The worst Customer Service . I only asked for a trolley from 1 of the cashier's , after I paid for my groceries at the till , and she refused to give me 1 because they need to use it for 60/60 . How does that work ???? The cashier's can't speak professional to client's . They scream on us or give attitude . That's PATHETIC. Thank you Checkers Mayville !!! Your lack of customer service and professionalism is exceptional.

Checkers Northern Paarl - No proper salad bowls for weeks - they use foamalite containers and you have to ask to wrap it otherwise the sauce of the salads are all over your other goods. Service very back.

I visited the Cape Gate Checkers on the 06 February 2026. As I shopped I noticed the extra spicy hot cross buns displayed and took a pack. Now I always buy Woolworths hot cross buns because they are so delicious, and I’m quite sticky 😃 when it comes to hot cross buns! Well Checkers I just want to tell you that you got it right! The hot cross buns was delicious and I will be back for more that’s for certain! Thank you for always striving for excellence in what you offer to customers! It’s a pleasure shopping with you guys and Woolies has just lost a customer with their hot cross buns, yours are way more affordable!
Shitty service in Checkers Rosebank
I visited the checkers store in Rosebank mall on the 24th of Jan. I needed to withdraw money and send it home to Swaziland. I was assisted by a controller named Tembelihle or Thembekile. She had a very bad attitude. She was not helpful at all and ended up walking away and talking about me to a colleague as I saw them talking about me and staring at me while I made a call. I had to call the manager and be assisted by her. She had a solution for me immediately. I don’t appreciate when employees make customers feel like they’re bothering them for doing their jobs. I didn’t like my experience at all however, I was glad I was assisted in the end. The manager on duty was very sweet and helpful.

Bad attitude from Mike in the butchery at Checkers Bonaero Park. No gloves while handling meat and shaking his head at my request to wear gloves. Most staff unfriendly and disrespectful! So sick and tired of bad service in this country!!!!!

I am writing to lodge an urgent complaint regarding a cake purchased today from your store for R129.99.
I reported the issue to the store on the same day and was informed that I would be refunded. However, despite this assurance, no refund has been processed.
I would like to clearly state that I am requesting a full refund of R129.99. I do not mind if Checkers wishes to collect the cake, as my main concern is receiving my money back as promised.
I am disappointed by how this matter has been handled and request that it be resolved as a matter of urgency. Please advise when the refund will be processed.

Rotten eggs
Always go to Checkers for groceries. The quality is always good but lately I've been getting some seriously bad eggs in those trays. At first I thought it was a bad batch but I've come to learn that they are all like that. I buy 4 trays a month so you can imagine the disappointment. Unfortunately I will no longer buy eggs from them.
