Ads don't work the way they're displayed on tv - it's tedious and error-prone and s l o w

I had Clear Captions years ago and used it infrequently - it's not a good product. Yes, people have to monitor the call (they did with TTYs too) but the accuracy (inaccuracy of voice recognition is not good). I finally contacted them to return the unit (they said put it in trash). But I tried again some years later.

I contacted them numerous times and said, "Don't call me. I don't use the phone." They called repeatedly until I blocked them. I said I want to return the phone since I've not used it this time (it has been @6years+ the device has remained packed and useless). They have my email but they never use it and they ignore my requests to contact me by email. It's crazy unprofessional. I guess they can keep charging MC by not responding?

I suppose my next step will be BBB. I recently sent an email to one of their divisions to try to get someone to contact me. That didn't work.

Don't fall for the ads. There must be something better (was looking at captioning in glasses) but haven't found anything yet. The date of experience goes back to around 2019.

Terrible customer service and line is…

Terrible customer service and line is constantly needing replaced and takes days to get a new one for my step-dad so he is out of a phone .Bought him a cell phone but he needs the closed captioning a bigger screen

Dodged a bullet thanks to their unprofessionalism.

I tried to get Clear Captions installed for mom. I dodged a bullet due to their lack professionalism. My first appointment was cancelled and rescheduled for 10 days later. On the appointed day I called the installer (who actually has a rather lofty management title and mature speaking voice). I was told they were running a bit late but that I would be called when on the way to the 2 - 4 PM appointment. After some more messaging I am given a dinner hour time. Now that I see the reveiws, it clear this whole enterprise is just another scam of government resources.

Captioning Service is not fully automated....

Their captioning service is not automated; they have people listening to your phone calls and those people type the captions in real time. It is like a free text messaging service where someone is typing the message which appears as a caption on your phone as it comes in from a caller. What I am saying here is described in small print at the bottom of their initial e-mail when you order their service. I cancelled my order because I do not want other people listening to my phone conversations. My privacy is important to me.

The first mistake I made was contacting Clear Captions I should have read reviews first. Reviews were all 1-star, nothing higher. My first appointment was for 2-4 PM.I came home at 12 and the Tech was waiting at my door. His appointment was for 12 o'clock. He disabled my Landline and hooked up his phone, which didn't work., checked a few things, gave me a 13-page booklet of instructions left about an hour later. I said I changed my mind. It was too complicated and I don't want it. An appointment for 6 days later was set to pick up the equipment. A one-star review is too high.

Not yet installed and already being harassed

Just before I actually called them, I decided to quickly look them up to see if there were any reviews. I immediately saw something about a scam, but I was going so fast I went past it. Then I merely called to get information at the insistence of my son who had seen an ad for it on TV. They took all my information, said I qualified for the free phone, and booked a date to have my phone installed. A couple days later, remembering seeing something about a scam, I decided to call and cancel my appointment to have the phone connected. They asked if I'd received my phone, and I told them I had not. They looked it up and said it was due to arrive that day by UPS, told me to just put the phone aside when it came, and canceled my appointment. They called Saturday, and I ignored the call and didn't answer. Today, they called my landline, which I didn't answer, and they almost immediately called my cell phone, which I also didn't answer, because I had told them I would call them back when I was ready to have my phone installed. I've just read all the bad reviews about them and have decided I won't be calling them back.

I would not recommend getting clear…

I would not recommend getting clear captions because when they say that there is no cost to you that is a lie because if you do not have internet you either have to pay for it or you do not get clear captions and a lot of people are on a very fixed income which is what I am on because I am on permanent disability and I cannot afford internet so therefore I can't use my phone

Slow hardware and will not take phone back

Phone is very slow and lags significantly even for my 93 YO mom - hardware was main issue and caption service was always 15 to 25 seconds behind. This made normal calls very difficult. When we went to return it they told us to just keep the phone they did not want it back - what a waste.

Horrible,rude

Horrible,rude, customer service. Not just that but their “employees” will take your phone number and harass you and try to scam you on their personal time. Supervisors do nothing about it. The phone itself is also poor quality.

Constant calls and emails!

Never contacted this company. All we did is look at their web page and have received constant phone calls daily and emails and mailings. I filed a complaint againt them and they said my husband contacted them which was a total lie. Would never use this company. Don't know how they got all my information by just looking at their web page and no contact.

I hate this phone

I hate this phone. It hangs up on me when I'm talking to someone. The words come too late to read what the person is saying to me. It a awful phone. I'm getting rid of it.

there is something fishy with them

Our concern with this company is they needed our Wi-Fi code and they would not let me see the contract and was no way for me to get it.
And the person that needed the information was a contracted computer analyst.

ClearCaptions Quality of Service

I accumulated over 350 ClearCaptions voice mail on my iPhone, and could not delete all of them simultaneously. I called ClearCaptions Customer Service for instructions. I had been transferred four times, and finally, someone came to help, but not much a help, he doesn't know how either.
"ClearCaptions" is such a poorly managed company, The quality of customer service is almost a big ZERO.
If/when you need a caption phone, don't use this company. there are other better resources.

Service on "Clearcaptions"

I have "Clearcaptions" on my land phone and iPhone. I have so much trouble with this company's service. Half the time this Clearcaptions line on my iPhone doesn't work. call rings and the line cuts off. So many callers complain to me about my phone. When I have a question, I call the helpline and the chat line. The automatic helpline is useless, and the chat line doesn't know what he is talking about.
This company has extremely poor service. Please do yourself a favor to go somewhere else.
