Climeworks uses a technology called 'direct air capture' to capture carbon dioxide directly from the air. When the removed air is combined with underground storage, it allows the permanent removal of excess and legacy CO₂ emissions, which can no longer contribute to climate change.

Years to handle orders
While I like the concept and support their great work on fighting climate change, the fact that it will take years to handle your order (co2 removal) is quite disappointing. It may be that the co2 removal machine is still not yet fully operational, but I would have expected them to be more explicit on the long time needed to actually perform the job (otherwise it seems more like a "donation" in disguise).

CO2 planned to be removed in 2030
While I appreciate the concept in general, I really dislike that all of my CO2 removals (ordered in 2024) are scheduled to be delivered in 2030 only.
Of course the estimated delivery date is not visible beforehand, so it comes as an unpleasant surprise. I cancelled my subscription for now, but I might give it another try once I see my CO2 being removed. See you in 2030.

However, we are committed to removing your carbon as efficiently as possible, and it is entirely possible that your removal will occur sooner than this timeframe.
Once the CO₂ removal has been performed on your behalf, you'll receive a CDR services delivery note.
