The owner of coauthor.AI "Sean Dollwet" gives misleading information on his YouTube channel in regards to the Pay walls on his website. In the video he published on 08/24/2026 @ 15:58 he states "just a heads up this feature is not part of the free extension. You do need a book credit, which is part of the subscription." I purchased a subscription for $48.75/mo, then spent days gathering all my notes and research and building my book out, and then when it came time to use the core feature, I was notified that that I need a book token to do this, which cost $150. I reached out to Sean Dollwet through the messages in one of his YouTube video and he responded "You can either get the pro plan which comes with book credits ($224.50/mo) or get essentials plan and buy a credit a la carte ($150). Very deceptive marketing, if he would've given the correct information upfront, I probably would not have purchased his service.

Loop of doom trying to 'get to know' me on LinkedIn. The system never finishes. There's no way to cancel your subscription. Total scam.

I was impressed with the Youtube tutorial and decided to sign up. However, the listed price was $48.75 and the checkout price was $65. Tried to chat with their bot and pointed me to a non existent support page. Felt confused and disappointed because the product seemed to be a good one but they neglect to update their prices so how can they lure future customers.

I found CoAuthor from a book publishing influencer's YouTube video recommendation. He said he is the owner or co-owner. CoAuthor is a useful AI tool to draft specific research-based non-fiction books. Its best feature right now is creating and organizing a chapter and section outline to serve as the book's structure. The user can then draft content with that framework or allow CoAuthor to create the content using AI. I found that the AI needs help because it often cites facts that could not be verified. The output required additional help at more costs with a gen AI tool and a book publisher tool to further help with format. CoAuthor offers a book cover creation feature that is worse than images created by ChatGPT. Even the influencer says in videos it is broken. The tool is in early beta though prices are competitive for a complete SaaS platform. Support took days to respond and was almost nonexistent. I could see this evolving to become a value for very specific research-focused non-fiction books. But right now, it's not worth the price.
