Do not book your car in here

Do not book your car in here. They’ll make MOT advisories into massive issues and the “friendly” customer service will come to a grinding halt when you pull them up on it. When I challenged how the information was presented to me, I felt like they didn’t take it well. I was quoted £280 for rear brakes that can be done elsewhere for around £100. Read all the reviews before you book here. I won’t be using this place again.

It was the worst experience I've ever had with car garages!

This place is an absolute joke and no-go! Avoid at all possible costs! Staff is either incompetent or a bunch of cheaters. Experience I've had with them was a nightmare and costed me a lot of money and stress. They failed MOT on a perfectly functional car which only needed 2 bulbs and front wipers replaced which is a five minute job. They could have just done it at the place there and then. Instead, they gave me a ridiculous quote of £40 for a job for which most garages don't charge anyway. They also made up a story my brake system has a major fault which needs investigation. Investigation only would cost £30 and they refused giving me the price of the repair!
After replacing the bulbs and wipers myself and checking the brake system at two other garages, which confirmed my car is in a great condition and there's nothing wrong with my brake system, Concord failed my MOT again!!! So I have done it somewhere else and never going back to this mockery place again!!! Their staff, especially Ryan in Norwich branch on Hall Road was unhelpful, and has done everything to turn a simple MOT service into a nightmare at each step of the way. He was an absolute disaster to deal with and even said he doesn't care if he loses a customer as he gets paid the same anyway! It was the worst experience I've ever had with car garages!

Dont use Concorde Autocentre

After searching for garages online an automatic quotation website (we can fix your car.com) or something along those lines prompted me to enter my details of vehicle and fault. I was then instantly quoted £30 from Concored to fix my turbo! Knowing this sounded too good to be true to repair a turbo, I thought I’d call in anyway. Turned out the £30 was purely for a diagnostic check. No real surprise there.

Initially I was quoted £699 to have my turbo on my transit van repaired, but was advised should it turn out to be a vacuum(Not a actuator turbo) then figure would be a couple of hundred pounds less as it was an off the shelf part.

Soon after that (not in the same conversation) the figure then jumped up to £750. And one Concordes advisors told me he had given me a great quote and got himself into trouble for doing so.

Anyway, booked my van in for the repairs and thought it wise to also have the vehicle serviced, whilst part of the turbo repair would require an oil change.

Vehicle was with them for ten days so I called the branch who told me that morning that it would be ready at 10:30 AM for collection.
Had I actually headed down there I would have found the vehicle was not ready and the situation had been worsened by them not removing oil from the intercooler.

With this extended duration the cost in rental vehicles is mounting up and offsetting that against the quotation I’m beginning to realise it would’ve been cheaper to have gone elsewhere, where the work could’ve been done in a more reasonable amount of time without any additional delays.

During this whole process I’m continually trying to establish whether my vehicle (or turbo) is the actuator type or the vacuum type. Couldn’t get a straight answer from anyone regarding this.

Finally the work is completed, I drive the van away with a huge trail of smoke but was advised that would be the case. I also observe that my steering was incredibly heavy but put that down to the difference in driving a new rental vehicle compared to my transit.

Three days later I notice (in the rain) oil puddles evident wherever I had travelled or parked. So I take my van back in and was advised that a hose for the steering fluid had split due to corrosion. I expected on a full service (which was also carried out during the turbo repair) that all the hoses should be inspected for their condition. The steering reservoir was empty but steering pump prior to going in for service was making a whining noise so this should’ve been identified and eradicated.

Concorde did say that they could repair the fault and that I would not be charged labour or for the steering fluid, just for the part “as the van had just been with us”. Which at the time I thought was a pleasant enough gesture and thanked them. I quickly did a search on my phone to ascertain roughly how much additional cost for this part I would incur. Online suggested I would be paying £70-£80. they told me it would probably be more than that and I’d have to wait until his supplier got back to him to establish how much that would be. After numerous calls and a number of days (without being able to drive the vehicle) I was eventually quoted £244.

During waiting to receive this quote I asked someone I know that worked for Ford (39 years) and gave him the part number for the hose and union; he advised me due to his discount he could get a genuine Ford part to me for £70 but it would’ve cost the general public £110. when I let Concorde know about this price they told me they were very embarrassed but that was the price and his suppliers must just mark the parts up significantly. I have subsequently had the steering hose issue rectified for a total of £50 by another mechanic including labour. So what I had originally thought was a nice gesture turned out to be an empty one.

Also within a week (or at the same time) of this steering Failure, a brake hose also ruptured (due to corrosion) same area. Again not picked up during the service. I had the corrosion pointed out to me by this same mechanic for the brake and steering systems and it’s clear to see that this required attention. And reading the Ford Full-service schedule checking these systems is part of the protocol. This could’ve obviously turned out to be more than financially costly but downright dangerous.

On the day I collected my van from Concorde, I spoke to one of the mechanics who advised me that it was indeed a vacuum turbo so asked Concorde about the quotation (lesser figure), they told me that I still had received a very good quote and said “ I don’t know what your other quotes were like, but they made a mistake in the office and that was a very good quote”.

I have to quote customers most days in my line of work, and wouldn’t dream of altering, or carrying out that quotation process in the way that Concorde has. Furthermore I was rarely contacted with information, I had to try and establish myself what stage of repair or disrepair my vehicle was in. It was very difficult to ascertain which type of turbo was being repaired. Due to the lack of attention to detail and dubious pricing of parts, I have no faith in leaving my van at one of your garages in the future.

It was an unpleasant episode which I was going to leave behind me, however this is immensely difficult as I’m continually being called, texted or emailed with requests like “contact us ASAP about your vehicle”. To learn that this contact is to win more of my custom or leave feedback.

So once I raised a complaint via email as instructed by the compliance team at Concorde, and told I would be contacted within 7 days. Well its been over a month but despite constant chasing I haven't had any comeback from them whatsoever. I've even asked for the managing director and was told he wouldn't talk to me. Plus copied him in on email. So I will be contact the owners for resolution.
Do not use this garage.

When Stewart was originally quoted from online he was informed £30 for a diagnosis but insisted that he needed a turbo as this is what he was diagnosed elsewhere.

Naturally he was given other prices before we quoted and our operative incorrectly did not include VAT on the £699 quote.

A reduced price was given before Stewart decided to go ahead at the £725 and he made an informed decision to go ahead with work based on other prices he has been given.

His power assisted steering pump had split due to corrosion and had nothing to do with the turbo work and he wished us to warrant issues not connected to work we had performed.

The report here is slightly different to our records but in any event we perform vehicle health checks during car and vans work for two reasons; to protect us and the customer.

The splitting hose would not have been detected as this time as the hose was not split; if we reported everything that appeared to have surface rust on each time this could be perceived as miss-selling and no one can x-ray a hose as part of a VHC or any other part for that matter.

All work is quoted before going ahead so (1) we are unsure why Stewart went ahead with the work if he could get the whole job cheaper including labour and (2) how a quote could be given by anyone accurately online without diagnosising the vehicle.

In all; Concorde had performed the correct work he required at a price that was cheaper than elsewhere overall and cannot warrant every part of a motor car or van that it has not worked on as no garage will or should.

On 18 / 05 / 2018

On 18 / 05 / 2018, Deposit for car repairs for £231 from Concorde Auto I originally took my car in to get a better quote at Concorde garage Oxford after a failed MOT - I was told by the receptionist that they could do the welding, tyres and lights for £462 inc VAT. I was told I had to pay the full amount by debit card that day before any work could be done luckily I only paid half as a deposit. Two weeks later and various calls for information over several days no work was done until it was too late for my re-test ! I was told each day I'd phone "sorry we are waiting for parts for our welding machinery" next day our welding machine is broken until three days later I was told the welder had walked out and the work could not be done. They then did work I did not authorise. At this time they still have my car and money for work that I did not authorise without the welding I required. They refuse after repeated attempts for a refund for my wasted time, stress caused and extra costs caused to me.
I now believe they never intended to do the welding and kept y car in until it was too late for my MOT and did the repairs before telling me the welding couldn't be done so I would have to pay them inflated prices for the work which could of been done cheaper elsewhere.
Also they are not registered with the Auto Ombudsman which I should of checked. I am now in the process of trying to come to a compromise with the compliance team before i go to the financial Ombudsman but so far they are stalling & saying the MD and the compliance team are sick! if I were you to avoid the same mistake i would take it too a registered garage.

Series of errors leads to real concerns on safety

NORTHAMPTON

Had front coil spring replaced - expected repair time of 2 hours ended up taking all day. Parts didn't arrive, and then, on driving car home the active suspension wasn't working - required system to be reset (hadn't been done), and then further return visit as sensor hadn't been correctly set so suspension still not working. Along the way, the wheel key was left on the car so it dropped off when driving out - fortunate I had to return so many times that I spotted it lying on the road!!!

Just a calamity, and doesn't come across as a trustworthy garage to me.

Shoddy Work & Transphobic Staff

My car was booked into the Cambridge branch 2 weeks before it was scheduled to go in for the required work. Less than 2 hours before my car was due in, I received a telephone call informing me that the supplier had sent the wrong 'cats' for my car. The work was rescheduled for 5 days later and I drove it to the branch. I was told that the work would take up to 90 minutes to complete but just over an hour later, the salesman informed me that the mechanic had broken 1 of the sensor probes getting it out, couldn't get the other 2 and had only managed to remove 1, rendering my car undriveable. Having paid out for the probes, I was inform that my car would be ready to collect 4 days later (due to the Monday being a Bank holiday). I phoned on the day advised only to be informed that the mechanic then had to seal the probes, and it would take 12 hours to cure. I finally collected my vehicle the following day and within 2 days of driving it, my check engine light illuminated informing me that there was a problem with 1 of the new probes. How could the job possibly have taken 90 minutes initially when the sealant needed to cure for 12 hours? On top of this, the salesmen continually misgendered me in telephone conversations between myself and the Cambridge branch and "to rub salt into the wound" my dash-cam recorded the staff using Transphobic speech when referring to me. I contacted the the Director who informed me that he was going to look into the matter and was apologetic. Assuring me that the matter had been dealt with locally, it was suggested that I take my car back to the Cambridge branch to have the work rectified. There is no way that I can return the vehicle to Cambridge when my very existence as a Transfemale is openly ridiculed by the staff at the branch, and I was lied to about the work required from the outset To put the icing on the cake, I had to replace my car battery. When the car went in it was fine, when the car came out the battery was wrecked. Avoid this company like the plague.

STAY WELL AWAY.

Booked in here for new pads and discs and two new tyres. They fitted my pads and discs but then I was told they had a problem getting my tires. After waiting two weeks, I asked for a refund and told them I need new tyres ASAP. I was told that wasn't a problem and my refund would be granted. Two weeks later and I am still waiting. I keep phoning and am told the paperwork has been sent to head office and I should get a refund soon. When I asked for head offices number to make a complaint, I was told they don't accept phone call for complaints! I have still been offered no solution and no refund. I truly believe they are hoping I forget about it and they can keep my money, many reviews on Google say the same thing. Kwik fit changed my tyres the next day, I can highly recommend them.
