We found the whole experience of working with York Cookhouse really straightforward. Dominic and his team are all helpful, knowledgeable and efficient The fitter, electrician, plumber etc were all friendly and took pride in their work, and they worked together to make everything run smoothly, the one small snagging issue was dealt with straight away.
We love our new kitchen and would highly recommend Cookhouse.

We are delighted with our new kitchen. It is superb quality, very useable, have bags more space. Hard imagine a galley kitchen where the space is put to better use, or which looks better.

Walking into the Cookhouse showroom it is an obvious step up from the big chains. The quality is evident - it looks and feels expensive! We were a little unsure whether they’d be able to come within our budget; Dominic was welcoming and professional and reassuring and we were very happy to go ahead with a visit and proposal

Once he had presented us with a design it was a no brainer. We were very pleasantly surprised with the quote, it looked beautiful and several weeks later the real thing absolutely lives up to it. The quality of the units, appliances, the fitting and every element of the workmanship is outstanding.

The whole project went without a hitch. We also wanted a new floor and Dominic put us in touch with a great tiler (Nick) and coordinated with him to work that into the schedule. Every one of the trades was bang on schedule, friendly and polite and carried out the work to an exceptional standard

From start to finish it was a brilliant experience.

We knew we wanted a new kitchen, but after walking around countless other showrooms/stores, we'd almost given up hope, until we walked into Cookhouse. No appointment, we just walked in and Dominic immediately made us feel welcome. He talked us through the different options, asked the right questions, and we knew there and then we'd found the right place.

Several appointments, home visits, 5 rounds of changes and redesigns (Dominic has some patience) and we were locked in with the design we wanted.

Dominic gave us a quote, a schedule and a list of names of who would be turning up and when. And every single tradesman turned up exactly as planned.

Garry did a brilliant job removing the previous kitchen and fitting the electrics. He offered different solutions to where plugs could go and installed new plugs that we hadn't originally thought about.

Jordan must have the neatest plumbing work I've ever seen. Attention to detail was unreal when installing the Quooker tap and new pipes, and he even installed an outside hot tap (which we only asked for on the day).

Shawn's plastering was so good it was a shame to cover it all up again with the kitchen. He even popped back to patch up some changes we made later on.

And Lee, the installer/joiner who spent the week not only fitting the kitchen, but building the custom island, end panels and everything related to the install. Like with anything new you kind of expect there to be snags, something not straight or lining up, but everything fits and sits perfectly. The attention to detail and skill in his work really shines through, and he's a credit to the company.

And that's the same for everyone we dealt with. They all had a problem solving attitude rather than a problem finder, nothing was "oh, no we can't do that", instead it was "yeh, we can make that work, how about..."

Not to mention the kitchen itself is incredible quality. The units, runners, hinges, internal light fittings, it's all very well made and great quality. This is a complete contrast to what you'll find elsewhere.

After a number of personal recommendations we visited Cookhouse to discuss fitting our new kitchen. The showroom was so impressive that we initially thought the cost would be beyond our budget.
However, Jane Bedingham, senior designer made us (and our dog) feel very welcome and put us at ease whilst we discussed our requirements. They were lots of options on display to inform our design choices.
Jane agreed to draw up some plans and detailed quotations for us to review.
The thought that went into the kitchen was incredible with both form and function considered! We were so delighted with the plans that we asked Jane to design our utility room as well.
The price for the quality of the units was excellent value.
Jane continued to work with us to finalise the design and final colour choices. She maintained contact right through the whole process and visited us to make sure her measurements were accurate before placing the order and after installation to make sure we were entirely happy. Both her design and her customer service were outstanding! We are delighted with our kitchen and utility room and would not hesitate to recommend Cookhouse and particularly Jane Bedingham.

Jane, the designer, considered all our needs and incorporated them into the design. She was very informative on how to use the appliances and kept us informed when work would start and which tradesmen would be working on what days. Liam, the fitter, worked professionally and was very polite and friendly.
As for the finished kitchen, we love it! The quality is so good and the finished result is even better than we could have hoped for.
I would not hesitate to recommend Cookhouse to anyone wanting a quality kitchen at an affordable price and with expert design and fitting.

We have recently moved to York to a house in need of some tlc and are so pleased to have found Cookhouse to replace the kitchen. The project wasn’t straightforward as the floor needed levelling. Dominic came up with both a great design and a very accurate plan, as well as organising all the trades. Everyone arrived on time and did an amazing job and we are thrilled with the result. The kitchen units look lovely and they will last a long time. This relationship with Cookhouse had a gentle start. The house that we now live in came about when a relative of ours passed away, and unbeknown to us she had left her house to us in her will. Hence the house chose us. We decided that we would live in it, but before we did we decided that we would have a complete new kitchen. Cookhouse was on the route from our then house when we walked to the City centre, so we often looked at what they were doing . Like many people we looked around several kitchen companies mostly on industrial estates around our City of York. We decided fairly quickly to approach Cookhouse where we met Dominic. We were fortunate, in terms of what was available and on display. We were fairly clear on how we wanted to have our kitchen and dining area. After our initial meeting, we were clear on what we wanted. Dominic arranged to come to our house to look at the old kitchen and the space in the place. He gave several suggestions on the location of the parts. We then had a further meeting with him where he showed us the plans and the design of it all on the computer. The rest was history, we signed up and work started , everything worked very well , we had a deadline to move in the November . I have to say all the tradesmen were there at the right time , and all the parts came at the right time. The tradesmen were very professional with everything they were doing. We were able to move into the house on the expected date. We have ended up with a lovely kitchen and dining area. I would not hesitate to recommend Dominic and his team at Cookhouse, not just for the design but also the Logistics of it.

We approached three different companies for our new kitchen, but Cookhouse really stood out. Jane Bedingham is a fantastic designer - she really listened to what we wanted, produced a great design, and then went through it carefully to find areas where we could cut costs to bring it well within our tight budget, while still being a very functional and beautiful kitchen.
The fitter that Cookhouse organised (YKD) was brilliant too - friendly, neat and tidy, and very skilled.

5 star star service from start to finish from CookHouse. When we moved house a year ago and knew that we would be changing the kitchen there was no question about where we would go. Dominic and his team had designed and installed our previous kitchen in our old house.

When I first met with Dominic on the design of this recent kitchen he could not have been more helpful or informative. He provided us with all the expert advice we needed. He was thorough and detailed throughout the process, accommodated the changes we made, even at the last minute. Dominic fully guided us through the process and what an end result we now have, it’s better than we could have imagined.

The process from design ideas to installation has been seamless, managed by Dominic, and with the appointment of first class tradesmen, we cannot recommend highly enough. Lee, the kitchen fitter, worked with such precision and attention to detail, helped us to make decisions and guided us throughout. All the tradesmen were excellent, Shawn who did the plastering, Garry the electrician and Jordan the plumber. All went above and beyond. We are absolutely delighted with the final product. Dominic and his team of tradesmen surpassed all our expectations. From our initial visit to the showroom, the on-site survey, guidance through the multiple choices to the final installation.

I was particularly impressed by the fact that the carcasses arrived protected and ready assembled, minimising any potential damage or delay. The whole project ran over 30 days, as programmed and with no delays.
Finally a mention for the tradesmen - they were all punctual, polite, skilful and professional.

We approached Cookhouse on the recommendation of a friend who had used them previously. From the beginning to end Dominic looked after us all the way through the process.
