Cat Watch’s Mission is to provide sensitive care for the unowned cats of the locality – abandoned, lost, and street cats. We cover a 30 mile radius from Amesbury in Wiltshire and south Cat Watch was set up in August 2019 after 3 of the founders own cats came home injured. Cat Watch came into its own through Covid – in the early days of the pandemic there was no organisation caring for these cats locally, Cat Watch worked through the pandemic and never turned a cat away! Cats are taken in, given appropriate veterinary attention, neutered if not already, vaccinated, chipped and suitable new homes found. From a few pens in the garden the organisation has come a long way in a short time. Charitable status was achieved, and a network of volunteer fosterers and helpers established. In collaboration with the Tisbury-based ‘International Cat Care’ (ICC) organisation Cat Watch has achieved iCatCare friendly rehoming centre status, and Marnie has the ICC course in shelter management. 2 Pens have been built to recognised welfare standards with the goal of 4 more in the pipeline. Ongoing vision short-term is consolidation of the Cat Watch organisation with longer-term goals of education, aiming to reduce the number of cats needing Cat Watch care. Core Values Cats in need will be treated in a timely manner, firstly establishing their homeless status. Every cat at CWRS is an individual being with a personality, feelings, intrinsic worth and value, and will be treated with care and respect in a non-judgemental, safe environment. All deserve to be pain-free. Each is treated as an individual, addressing its emotional and physical needs. Cats are re-homed as soon as appropriate. Cats unsuitable for re-homing will undergo ‘T N R’ – trap, neuter, release. All veterinary issues will be treated in an appropriate manner provided that this is in the cat’s best interests, and within sensible financial constraints. Euthanasia is a last resort for un-manageable cases. Rescue/welfare cats often come with their own emotional troubles, and sometimes chronic disease problems. Adopters will be given all details of possible ongoing issues. CWRS are not a re-homing centre, but may be able to help you if you need to find a new home for your kitty. We do not often have the facilities to take them into the shelter unless this is a dire emergency!

Adopting a cat was incredibly easy

Adopting a cat was incredibly easy. CWRS carried out an assessment on us and our home and once we passed that, we had kittens that matched us within days. The advice, updates and information provided by the carers was brilliant. They’re now settling in to their new home

Thomas

I had had a stray cat taking shelter in my garage for many months, with multiple attempts at getting him some help through two vey major charities, all of which proved fruitless while this poor boy continued to suffer. I spoke to cat watch rescue shelter regarding an unrelated matter, and mentioned him in the conversation, and they really blew my socks off with how amazing they are. Within two days, a representative arrived at my house and trapped him, took him away and had him neutered, as well as all of the other necessary treatments, and delivered back to me that same day. I could not have done this without their help. What a fantastic team, I wish I had heard of them many months prior. Would highly recommend them to anybody looking to rehome a cat or deal with a stray.

I have had a stray cat come and visit…

I have had a stray cat come and visit my home but as I have 2 cats of my own I couldn't bring him in. Cat watch loaned me a cat trap and as soon as I caught him a member of staff came to my home and collected him. They neutered wormed flea treated and chipped and bought him right back to his territory so he wouldn't be completly terrified in an unknown place. This charity is amazing and genuinely cares for the lost and strays so please help support this amazing place.

Cat Watch Rescue is wonderful

They obviously care deeply about each of the cats in their care; we were thoroughly vetted, and rightly so, but everyone was so friendly throughout the process. No hassles and everything happened very quickly, we are very happy to have supported a fantastic charity and to have two new additions to our family!

Keep up the good work.

Amazing Organisation

I completed an application for Katie (now Lumi) and the same day I had an email to organise a virtual home check. As we’d already been approved the previous year we didn’t have to do it again.

We met Deborah and Katie at the rescue within a couple of days and following her health check we brought her home today.

Everything happened really quickly and smoothly and we can’t thank Marnie and everyone at Cat Watch Wiltshire enough for allowing us to adopt Katie and fir everything they do ❤️

So grateful

We are so grateful to Marnie and her team - especially the foster family - for helping us to adopt 3 gorgeous kittens. All the way along the process we felt supported and that the cats best interests were being taken into account most of all. Communication with their foster family was clear, timely and always helpful. The kittens really landed on their paws with their foster family! This charity is doing such amazing work and deserves all our support.

An amazing rescue ❤️

The process from beginning to end adopting our beautiful girl Sage has been incredibly seamless. Sage has joined our family becoming the youngest of 3 girls. Paula and Glen welcomed us into their home and answered all our questions and worries even if they felt like silly questions. There was never an option to buy and adoption was always on the cards, from just weeks old to taking her home we were allowed the option of visiting and getting to know our little girl, nothing was too much trouble, CW is an amazing charity that goes over and above for all their kittens/cats and adopters, I aim to keep the charity and Paula and Glen updated of Sage's progress and would always feel comfortable contacting them as we have become friends through this whole process !!! Highly recommend

What an amazing experience…..

What an amazing experience we’ve had in adopting Star & Luna from Glen and Paula. When they were abandoned in Salisbury with 13 siblings, CWW Rescue and G&P stepped up. Working full time but bottle feeding and meeting their every need 2-3 hourly and providing a warm & loving home selflessly. Caring for them like their own until we became mama and papa, fully socialising them with their own cats. We’ve been welcomed weekly to follow Star and Luna’s journey and have become lifelong friends. I could not recommend this charity and this lovely pair of fosterers more highly 🐈🐈‍⬛

The place to go to adopt a cat or kitten

After weeks of monitoring the Stubbington Ark RSPCA website and applying for cats, getting our hopes up and never hearing back (and not being given much information on the phone on the one time I was able to get through), I was amazed at how quick and smooth the process was with Cat Watch Rescue. Just a day or two after submitting our application, our home check was done via video tour, and within an hour of being accepted, we were sent details of two potential matches. We visited both cats at their foster homes the very next day, chose one straight away, and reserved her within hours!

Lorna was fantastic – she answered all of our (many!) questions and shared lots of helpful information about the cat we were adopting. She even called the vet to move forward her spay, chip, and 2nd vaccination so that we could bring her home a bit sooner.

We decided to change our cat's name, and Lorna started calling the cat by her new name whilst she was still in foster care, and put the new name on her microchip.

We were given some of the food that our cat had been eating, so that we could buy more of the same (and/or use it to transition to a different food if preferred).

The adoption fee (£250) is higher than some other rescue centres, but the personal service and speed of the process made it absolutely worth it. A week after bringing her home, we are so happy with our 1-year-old cat – she’s settled in beautifully.

Meanwhile, I still haven’t heard a single thing back from the RSPCA, even about the 3-legged cat I applied for as soon as he was uploaded on their website (thinking he'd be the hard luck case that nobody else would apply for). They get indundated with applications and so we could have been waiting for ages and never got a cat through the RSPCA. Cat Watch Rescue aren't as well known and so I hadn't heard of them until I asked somebody on Facebook where they got their new cats from. And Cat Watch Rescue are indundated with cats and abandoned kittens that need rehoming. The process was efficient, caring, and supportive from start to finish. I highly recommend them!

If you want a cat start here

I met 5 of the team and you can see how relaxed the cats are, some just laying in the garden and, even those in nice size cages looked very content. I'd come to pick up Humphrey who had a stressful trip to the shelter but he was very peaceful and is now settling in nicely.
All movement and conversation is done with care, from the initial chat, the video call (when you are understandably vetted to check you have a suitable environment for the type of cat you are looking to rehome) to meeting the team and picking up your new family member.
It couldn't be easier and can't be better. The only downside is seeing so many cats/kittens that deserve a home.

Adoption of Rosie and Ruby

We have just adopted Rosie and Ruby from Cat Watch having lost our 20 year old Freddie. They have been amazing from start to finish. Professional and supportive and carried out a thorough assessment of us and our home.
We met with Glenn and Paula to meet the girls and were so impressed with their set up and how caring and professional they were. They kept us up to date with progress and lots of pics and videos. On handover day they gave us lots of information and said if we needed anything to be in touch.
Wonderful organisation … thank you for letting us adopt … Mandy and Matt xxx

Found my lost cat!

I messaged Cat Watch at 1830 on a Saturday evening asking to borrow a trap to help catch my lost cat. Within 30 minutes Glen was at my door having driven from Amesbury to Andover, then drove us to Basingstoke and waited 5 hours until he was caught. Cannot thank Glen and the team enough for reuniting me with my cat and so swiftly as well, you all went above and beyond.

An amazing charity - adopt don't Shop!

What an amazing charity! I feel incredibly fortunate to have discovered such a dedicated organization for rehoming cats. They ensured a thorough vetting process and conducted a home check before allowing me to adopt. The support I received during and after the adoption has been exceptional. Joining the "graduates" group after successfully adopting my cat guarantees ongoing assistance & support. Each cat comes fully vetted, vaccinated, microchipped, and includes a setup for insurance. All I can say is please to those thinking of a heartbeat in the home. Please adopt - not shop!

Excellent adoption service

Marnie and the Cat Watch Team have been fantastic, what a wonderful bunch doing such great work. We couldn't be happier with our beautiful new kit cat. We thought we could never replace our old cat who we lost after 18 years but Barbarella has personality for 2 and we're already head over heels. Highly recommend this excellent service.

They found our lost cat!!

When our new rescue, Tiny, escaped from our 2nd storey window early hours of Friday morning, MJ and Glen at Cat Watch were incredible. They helped me to spread the word locally and when Glen came and set a cat trap on Sunday, he was so understanding and empathetic to the situation, he’s so knowledgable on how a cat would react and where they may likely go/be and really reassured me at a time when I was either frozen with concern or couldn’t sit still for searching for him. I always knew they were angels, for the work they do with rescue cats, but honestly, I have so much gratitude for the outstanding support they provide to those who have missing cats too.

Thank you all at Cat Watch, you absolute legends.

Kat, Tim and Tiny xx
