Dan Joseph Music Avis 

I've been playing guitar on and off for most of my life. I never seemed to get anywhere until recently. I briefly had lessons 20 years ago, however they never really worked out. When I moved to Teddington a few years ago I was curious to learn that there was a guitar teacher nearby - that was Dan Joseph. I was rusty in all areas of my playing, plus my music theory was sketchy at best. We quickly identified where I wanted and needed to improve - pretty much everything. A methodical and structured approach was embarked upon, utilising both fingerstyle and plectrum. Chords and chord theory, particularly jazz chords and harmony. A bit of classic rock, e.g. Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple etc. Learning to read tabs. Learning proper music notation is something I'm looking forward to learning. Dan has answered my many questions regarding theory. A mostly self-taught musician like me can get some funny ideas about musical rules and guidelines and he puts me on the straight and narrow. When I find tunes that I want to play, even fairly complex jazz tunes, Dan is able to play pretty much anything and teaches it to me. He is particularly patient in ensuring that I know why things happen in a piece of music, not just the physical aspects of learning a tune. My technique has improved massively, that was the first thing I noticed. Dan also teaches singing, he has been helping me there. He also teaches bass, keyboards and music production. I have not tried them yet but I know that he knows his stuff and has had years of live and studio experience. Dan does online lessons too, which is great if you can't make it over to Teddington.
Dan is a top bloke, we have been to some gigs together and we frequently discuss different types of music that we like. I like to specialise in jazz, Dan is very much an all rounder and specialises in everything. I’ve had the chance to see him perform live with some of his other students. I understand that he has some excellent classical guitarists as students as well as complete beginners.
If you’re looking for effective, insightful music coaching combined with friendly, enjoyable lessons, Dan is outstanding. I have no hesitation in giving him my highest recommendation - five stars. I’m really looking forward to continue studying with Dan and reaching the next level under his guidance.

My Bass lessons with Dan Joseph are enjoyable, enlightening, and bring great results.
We decided on and began my favourite 80s bass-lines and RSL debut grade pieces like Ain’t No Sunshine.
I rescheduled a number of lessons and found Dan very flexible. We have a really nice rapport. I enjoy his knowledge and how we get down to focused work.
We were both happy with my quick progress, Dan inspires me to practice regularly. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for an experienced Bass teacher and more than anything, he's a lovely guy!

Dan is the only singing teacher that responded to my google search, no doubt because I revealed I am nearly 80 years old. I have been singing solo for a guitarist for the past 12 years, but recently my voice had begun to fail me. Initially, I was rather apprehensive about approaching a voice coach, but I am very glad I did, I feel very comfortable with Dan and not at all embarrassed while attempting the various methods of warm ups and voice control, which causes some amusement occasionally . Dan is very easy to get on with, the lessons are nice and relaxed and generally run over time. My voice has already improved and I feel more confident that my voice won't let me down during a performance.

Our 10 year old Daughter has been taking Guitar lessons with Dan Joseph for exactly two years. In Dan’s lessons she has learnt to play very well. She enjoys sharing what she's working on.
During the pandemic our Daughter attended lessons online via Zoom. Music has always been an important part of our Daughter’s life.
We are proud of her achieving distinction at RSL Grade 1 and looks forward to her Acoustic Grade 2 choices, and some Rockschool Classics.
Dan arranges fingerstyle arrangements of her favourite pop songs. And she submits her guitar playing on Dan's practice app. Dan’s Music lessons have been effective at a reasonable price, he often extends lessons when needed. Dan Joseph has been teaching a group class for my two daughters since January.
He arranges their favourite songs on Guitar and Ukulele to sing and play at home. Dan cares about their progress, planning lessons around their favourites music. He offers feedback on their playing between lessons via his practice app, which helps to keep them on track. In class he teaches a method for them to learn to perform songs accurately. They are excited to take their first RSL grade this summer.
My daughters love playing music even more. Lessons with Dan have been great value. I am very happy to recommend Dan to anyone looking for a Music tutor.
