Dissertation by Design consultants are coaching me through my dissertation journey by providing professional knowledge, resources and one-on-one time for asking questions and collaboration. Writing goals were reached by focusing on one concept or idea at a time, which made writing my dissertation manageable.

In the time I have been working with Dissertation by Design, I have felt supported and like I am making progress through my dissertation work. The team is friendly, helpful and I am getting both the group support and individual coaching I need to make a difference and make progress to defending my dissertation. The team is also honest and firm, holding me to deadlines while crafting a timeline that works individually for me. I am grateful I found them.

"Why didn't I reach out sooner" is probably an all-too-familiar refrain! I'd hit a roadblock mid-Chapter 3 (not to mention the whole COVID crisis!) and reached out to Dissertation By Design. I thought the way Wikipedia defined coaching makes sense, “Coaching is a form of development in which an experienced person, called a coach, supports a learner or client in achieving a specific personal or professional goal by providing training and guidance.” My goal is to finish my dissertation. ABD (Anything But Dissertation) struck me like some of the Doctoral students. My experience with Dissertation Design is still in the early stage, what I can say, what a breath of fresh air working with Dr. Veronica Richard. Her ways of getting the answers from me are rooted in a positive and inquisitive way of questioning, which in business school calls it an appreciative inquiry. She addresses my cyclical patterns of doing things, areas I need guidance the most by acting as a mirror to reflect on what’s working and what are the areas of opportunities we need to work on to complete a massive project, as the dissertation. I found a renewed hope and excitement in completing my dissertation; thank you, Dr. Richard, for your patience, wisdom, knowledge, and faith that I have it in me to get my dissertation done! - C

I was overwhelmed with my graduate-level research project, and my anxiety was through the roof. I was hesitant to call at first, but I am glad I did. Jessica has been fantastic! From day one Jessica have been supportive in guiding me towards my goals. She is mindful of how she guides the process without being aggressive in her approach. I believe she is a professional who goes above and beyond for her clients and make the time worth it. Of course it has been a short period of time however Jessica have showed that she respects my time by calling promptly at the scheduled Appointment time. I came to DBD 12 weeks prior to the end of my dissertation journey. I desperately needed help understanding how to present my findings. I’ve worked with many dissertation coaches, and none of them compare to Veronica. The detailed guidance and modeling I received from working with her really helped me to understand the process and look at my study from a different lenses. Prior to our consultation, she took time to look through all of my previous work and resources and actually presented a detailed plan of action. She sent me examples and detailed notes with tasks for me to complete to stay on track. This has by far been the most confident I’ve felt during my entire journey. My only regret is that I didn’t know about them sooner.

Provides incredibly personal, individualized services to help in every part of the dissertation writing process. Individual coaching sessions support the writing, editing and most importantly the feedback cycle. I have personally benefited from working with my coach to set weekly goals to keep my writing on track. The staff is incredibly professional. The coaches each have a different background and perspective, but each takes the time to listen, read and get to know you. I love the weekly writing collaborative and workshop sessions - setting aside the time for these has been valuable both for the way they help me refocus and the community of friendly faces - it helps to know you are not going through the process alone, and you are not inventing the wheel - there is great conversation with students from other universities or in different places in the coursework, research and writing timeline.

The coaches are very humble. They give you time to write. They act as sounding boards for ideas. They give suggestions.
