I had an appointment a few weeks ago, and spoke to Arlene Keen about a motorcycle loan. She let me know the interest rates and said I was approved for a $7,000.00 loan. I hadn’t picked out a specific bike yet. She said just have the dealership call her when I made my selection.
I found a motorcycle in Ohio. This morning, 1/22/21, I stopped in to the Holly road branch office. I made a withdrawal to purchase the motorcycle in case something happened with the financing. I spoke to Arlene Keen before leaving and told her I was going to Ohio to get a motorcycle. I told her the dealership would be calling her in a couple of hours.
After getting to the Ohio dealership I looked over the motorcycle and decided to purchase it. The dealer called Arlene to take care of the financing so I could take the motorcycle home. She told him to email her the information. He did and told me to go have lunch and wait for her to call us back. We waited, but she never called either of us. I called her to see what we were supposed to do. She told me to come into the branch office, sign the papers, and pick up a check. I reminded her that I was in Ohio and asked if we could do it by fax or something like when I buy a car. She said we could, but that was a different kind of loan and would have to go through the loan department. She said she could get that started. We hung up and I told the dealer what was going on. He said they had other lenders I could use. It was already a long morning and I still had to drive another two and a half hours to get home. Thankfully I planned ahead for this kind of fiasco and brought cash. I called Arlene back and told her I didn’t need a loan and was going to pay cash. She told me after I got the title I could get a loan and pay myself back.
Every time I’ve tried to get a loan with Dort Federal I’ve had issues. When I got a loan for my Camaro I had to make several trips between the dealership and branch office to secure the loan. When I bought my GMC Sierra 2 years ago I went to the branch office to get a loan and was told I had to make an appointment at the main office. The dealership got me a loan from another credit union and I never had to leave the dealership.
I want to use Dort Federal for all of my financial needs, but it is impossible.
Update: It’s been 14 days since my review and 11 days since Dort Federal’s automated response. No one has called me or sent an email. Just another example of how they conduct business.

So far all was explained well and easy set up.

Dort has turned back the clock on banking. They prioritize the customer. Face to face customer service, the old fashioned way (except with Covid protection)! Thank you Regan and the team Lapeer!

I came in thinking I had to borrow from my 401K and I was given another option which made me happy!! It helped to talk it over with your customer service!!

Jazmyn was awesome. She handled my change of beneficiaries with professionalism, friendliness, and quickness. She also notarized a document for me.

I found the expert staff at Dort to be so very helpful, as always, and courteous. They are always knowledgeable and get me exactly what I need in a timely manner.

My main bank which is Chase mailed my autoloan payment to Dort on Dec 7 and the check has not yet been cashed and its Jan 5 so my payment is now late. I have waited to talk with a person for half hour last Saturday and then on Monday left a call back number and still no one has contacted me. I also left an online message and the reply was for me to call Dort. I will have to tell Al Serra not to use them next time.

I have had an account with Dort Federal for over 30 years, tellers and employees have always been friendly and helpful. Until the new drive through teller system started. I have sat and waited for service, even to be greeted, for over 20 minutes on much more than one occasion. With 2 tellers lines open there were 2 cars at each “teller” waiting. It’s becoming very frustrating. I miss the personal experience of having someone physically at the bank. My wife’s credit union and my daughter’s bank both offer this more personal service.

Bought a used vehicle from an individual not a dealership on the 30th of December and the entire process lasted less than 30 minutes. Dort is very fast and efficient and they take great care of their members. I highly recommend Dort to anyone looking for a new bank or credit union.

Julie, from the Davison Office, was extremely helpful. She helped me resolve some concerns/issues with my parent's accounts. Julie made sure that everything was addressed correctly. I really appreciate her help.

I worked with Megan to update some accounts. She was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Also took care of other account transactions with a teller and she was also very friendly and efficient. Eryn greeted me with a smile as I approached the member services desk and was very cordial when interacting with me and all of the many other customers that came her way. I really like working with and doing business in person at the Pierson Road location. I can't say enough good things about the tellers with whom I have been banking for several years including Sharon and Geena. Super, super, super!!! Thank you!
