Durstongear Avis 8

I finished work at 5pm this evening in the UK (about the time the email arrived from Durston telling me the new batch of XD 1+ was available to purchase) with the intention of ordering a tent only to find that when I got on line 20 mins later to order one that they'd already sold out again. Whilst I'm very pleased that they're selling well and all the hype seems to have worked I hope they appreciate that those of us hoping to buy one might not feel inclined to wait until their next release (Nov?) and instead might choose to purchase another brand that can meet customer demand. I know this is a readily accepted marketing ploy used to elevate the demand and cost of these things, but it's not one I've come across in the back backing world before. For the sake of brand and customer loyalty would it not have been sensible to take orders with payment in advance so that people can plan their lives and forthcoming trips accordingly. Very disappointed and won't necessarily be waiting to enter the same lottery in November unless I have some assurance this will be addressed.

Great piece of kit. Lightweight for a 2 man tent Easy and quick to pitch. Can always keep the fly sheet away from the inner so no condensation despite the fly being covered in ice. My dog loves it too🐾

Dan Durston is "knocking it out of the park" with his business.
1. VALUE: The quality of his gear and prices are above and beyond the competition brands, and he is a much smaller business.
2. SHIPPING: I live in South Carolina and even though Durston Gear ships from Canada, his shipping prices are reasonable (even after tarrifs, just ordered a new tent on May 1st). Every order has been shipped the next day and I have received my orders in less than a week to a few days.
I have no connection to this company and receive no benefits, just happy to promote a company that actually does it right.

Excellent product that look and function exactly as seen on the website. Hands down the best tent I've purchased. Their customer service was great as well, and the tent arrived a week earlier than I expected. Well done!

Absolute top website. Dan is a great owner, super responsive & helpful. I ordered the X-Mid 1 to the UK (If you order the parts separately as spares, you can avoid paying extra UK fees!) I had to pay for delivery twice, but saved me a lot in VAT/fees. The tent is brilliant & arrived within 10 days. Top class.

It's difficult to sing the praises loud enough for this company. Not only are they creating innovative, high-quality products that are challenging the norms in the outdoor industry and injecting fresh ideas that are welcome all round, but their level of care and customer service is second to none.

After buying one of their tents second hand off ebay, I got in touch due to the need for a replacement pole set. Pierre has been absolutely brilliant in answering my queries and doing everything in his power to make sure I'm a satisfied customer. That included getting replacement poles sent from Canada to the UK in a matter of days!

To me, this feels like a company I can really get behind and trust. Thanks Durston team!

Wonderful company with highly innovative products and and an amazing customer service. I have now bought a number of items from them, and it has always been a very pleasant experience. They even tell you where you can sell your pre-owned gear when you no longer need it.

Durston were really helpful in organising a custom order for me, to quite a tight deadline, so I now have an XMid 2 Solid for an upcoming bikepacking trip. I very much recommend the company, their customer service is brilliant and the actual product looks to be really good quality as well
