Don’t buy ENGWE!

Trustpilot Review – Very Disappointed

Our experience with this bike and with Engwe overall has been extremely negative. What was supposed to be a reliable solution for my son’s daily transport has turned into a long series of problems, expenses, and frustration.

From delivery to ongoing technical failures, this has been a very poor-quality product combined with slow and ineffective customer service.

Main issues:
• Repeated delivery delays
• Package arrived damaged
• Promised compensation never provided
• Bike cannot be folded due to cables being too short
• PAS sensor has major problems and is highly unstable
• Electrical system generally unreliable with loose connections in several places
• App shows incorrect battery status (full when not full, and vice versa)
• Very slow customer service response times
• Every issue answered with new counter-questions instead of real solutions
• Repeated requests for photos, videos, and serial numbers without resolution
• Local repair would cost €200+ at our own expense

Overall, this is a low-quality product with unstable electronics and very poor customer support.

I cannot recommend this bike or Engwe as a brand based on our experience.

Ho pagato €1.551,83 per una e-bike che non mi è mai stata consegnata

Ho acquistato una ENGWE L20 3.0 Pro pagando €1.551,83 per un modello con motore centrale da 100 Nm, scelto per le sue caratteristiche tecniche (potenza, telaio pieghevole, motore mid-drive) e non per il prezzo, poiché avevo a disposizione alternative più economiche.

Quello che ho ricevuto è un modello diverso da quello acquistato (L20 3.0 Boost, 75 Nm invece dei 100 Nm del modello ordinato) e, per di più, non funzionante.

Il problema quindi non è soltanto aver ricevuto un prodotto difettoso, ma aver ricevuto un prodotto che non corrisponde al modello acquistato.

Di conseguenza, il prodotto che ho effettivamente pagato non mi è mai stato consegnato.

Inoltre, la consegna (che dovrebbe essere del modello L20 Boost PRO) ha subito un ritardo significativo dovuto anche a un errore nell’etichetta di spedizione preparata dal venditore, che ha contribuito al problema logistico.

Come compensazione per i disagi della consegna, mi era stata promessa anche una borsa omaggio, mai arrivata.

Da oltre una settimana sono in contatto con il servizio clienti. Ogni risposta arriva con oltre 24 ore di attesa e le soluzioni proposte mi pongono sistematicamente in una posizione di ulteriore svantaggio.

Mi è stato proposto un rimborso pari alla differenza di prezzo tra i due modelli più 100 €.

Tuttavia, il rimborso della differenza di valore tra i due modelli rappresenta semplicemente il minimo necessario per riportare la situazione al punto di partenza, poiché ho ricevuto un prodotto diverso e tecnicamente inferiore rispetto a quello acquistato.

I 100 € aggiuntivi dovrebbero quindi rappresentare una compensazione per il disagio subito.

Ma, alla luce di quanto accaduto, non possono in alcun modo coprire il danno concreto derivante dall’aver pagato per un prodotto mai consegnato, dal ritardo nella consegna, dal tempo perso con l’assistenza e dall’impossibilità di utilizzare il mezzo per cui avevo effettuato l’acquisto.

Inoltre, la mia seconda opzione di acquisto sarebbe stata la L20 Cargo (anch’essa con motore da 100 Nm), attualmente in offerta a €1.249. Con lo stesso coupon da €100, l’avrei pagata €1.149.

Questo dimostra chiaramente che la mia scelta non era basata sul prezzo, ma sul valore tecnico del prodotto.

Nonostante abbia spiegato tutto nel dettaglio, ENGWE continua a trattare questa situazione come una normale procedura di reso, invece di riconoscere che non ha consegnato il prodotto acquistato.

Mi è stato persino chiesto di effettuare test tecnici sulla batteria tramite un video che non corrisponde al modello della batteria ricevuta.

A questo punto, il problema principale non è più solo il prodotto, ma la perdita di fiducia generata dalla gestione dell’intera vicenda.

Questa situazione si sarebbe potuta risolvere facilmente inviando il modello corretto e ritirando contestualmente quello errato.

Invece, mi ritrovo con una bici di modello diverso da quello acquistato, non funzionante, in casa, mentre ENGWE ha il mio denaro per un prodotto che non mi è mai stato consegnato.

Tutta la documentazione (foto, ordine, comunicazioni) è conservata.

Spero che questa recensione possa essere utile ad altri clienti per capire cosa può accadere nel caso in cui qualcosa vada storto con un ordine.

Aggiorno la mia recensione per informare che, in assenza di una soluzione definitiva, ho formalmente avviato una procedura di chargeback presso il mio istituto bancario e presentato reclamo al Centro Europeo Consumatori (ECC-Net).

Ritengo che la situazione configuri mancata consegna del bene conforme al contratto e resto in attesa di una risoluzione completa e conforme alla normativa europea.

Never again an Engwe E-Bike

This is the final report on my review of 07.12.2025

Unfortunately, I can't report anything good about this company. In March 2025 I bought the Mapfour N1 ST. For the four months of use of an Engwe e-bike I paid about 700 €!

After four months with 400 km of mileage, the interior of the mechanical brake caliper of the rear disc brake broke. A few days later, the e-bike could no longer be turned on, the display remained dark.

I had to send it to the Vitech company. In December, Vitech found that it could not be repaired.

Engwe offered me several options:

- A used e-bike as a replacement + 100 €

Compensation

- Reimbursement of half the purchase price

However, the used bikes offered did not include a carbon wheel. None that would have suited me in height and age. With a co-payment of almost 700 €, Engwe offered me a new folding bike with a mid-engine.

I was tired of it and decided to return half the purchase price! The refund was reduced by considerable PayPal fees.

Congratulations Engwe, after 82 years in my life, you are the first company that has not fulfilled its warranty obligations!

It should also be noted that technicians from Engwe and their authorized workshop Vitech do not know how their own products work. With a probability bordering on certainty, only the IoT was defective on the bicycle.

My tuition fee/empty money had a good one, I now have a European e-bike with the technology of a well-known manufacture

Buyer beware.

Beware of Engwe.eu’s False Claims and Poor Customer Service, I purchased an Engwe L20 e-bike from Engwe.eu on August 25, 2025, expecting a reliable product with a 140km battery range as advertised. However, my experience has been deeply disappointing due to missing parts, faulty components, and unresponsive customer service, which I believe violates German consumer law. Upon delivery, the bike was missing a seat component, rendering it unusable for two weeks while a replacement part was shipped from China. After fitting the part, I took the bike for a 30km test ride on flat cycle paths. Despite the bike computer showing full battery power, the bike slowed down and the battery died completely at 38km—far short of the advertised 140km range. This issue recurred on a second ride. A YouTube video confirmed other customers faced the same problem, yet Engwe’s only suggestion was to reset the bike’s computer, sending me a video for a different model, which was unhelpful. On another ride, just 8 miles in, the bike stopped entirely. I noticed the chain was hitting the rear tire, suggesting a rear hub or motor issue. Engwe offered a new computer and rear derailleur but refused to address the apparent motor failure, repeatedly asking me to repair the hub myself. I declined, as this would void my warranty. After multiple emails about the false range claims and mechanical failures, Engwe’s responses were vague, offering inadequate discounts (30–100 euros) instead of a proper solution.Eventually, Engwe agreed to collect the bike for repairs, but the courier refused pickup due to the bike’s size. Engwe’s response was to send parts for me to arrange repairs locally, which I found unacceptable. Despite numerous emails and a letter to their Hong Kong headquarters requesting a refund, I’ve received no satisfactory resolution. I’ve ridden the bike only a few times; most of my time has been spent pushing this heavy, faulty bike or chasing Engwe for support.I’m now forced to involve a solicitor, as Engwe’s practices—false advertising, defective products, and refusal to honor warranty obligations—appear to breach German consumer law. I strongly caution others against purchasing from Engwe.eu. Save yourself the frustration and choose a more reputable company.

3 Monate defektes Ebike

Ich habe Ende April 2025 direkt bei Engwe ein Cargo-E-Bike (LE20) bestellt. Schon bei der Lieferung gab es erste Mängel: Die Schiebehilfe funktionierte nicht, Vorder- und Rücklicht waren defekt und der Rahmen hatte einen Kratzer. Ich habe alles dokumentiert und dem Kundenservice gemeldet, inklusive Videos und Diagnosen.

Zunächst wurde mir eine Lösung zugesagt, allerdings zog sich die Kommunikation lange hin. Statt einer Reparatur oder eines Austauschrads wurde ich an eine Partnerwerkstatt verwiesen. Dort wurde mir gesagt, dass Ersatzteile erst geliefert werden müssten – was bis heute nicht passiert ist.

Leider fiel wenige Wochen nach der Lieferung auch die Tretunterstützung komplett aus. Auch dazu gab es von Engwe mehrere widersprüchliche Aussagen – mal sollte der Motor verschickt werden, dann wieder nicht. Ein bereits angekündigter Motor wurde offenbar zurückgeschickt, da der Name der Werkstatt nicht korrekt angeschrieben war.

Das Rad ist seit drei Monaten nicht fahrbereit. Meine lange Radreise musste ich abbrechen. Der emotionale und finanzielle Aufwand ist enorm.

Ich habe mehrfach ein Austauschrad angefragt, um eine Lösung zu finden – leider ohne Ergebnis. Ich hätte mir einen verlässlicheren und lösungsorientierten Kundenservice gewünscht.

Ich schreibe diese Bewertung erst nach über drei Monaten Erfahrung und Kommunikation. Ich hoffe, dass sich Engwe den Fall nochmal ansieht und eine Lösung anbietet – bisher war der Ablauf leider sehr enttäuschend.

Das Problem ist der Support

Das Problem ist der Support. Es ist nicht möglich einen vernünftigen Austausch zu bekommen. Man schreibt eine mail und bekommt erst einen Tag später eine Antwort. Das die Fahrräder nicht problemlos sind war mir klar, trotzdem würde ich mir wünschen das mir vernünftige Lösungen angeboten werden.

Ich habe mir das LE20 geholt. Es stand mit den Upgrades leider im Vorverkauf. Trotzdem habe ich eine sendungsnummer bekommen und nach paar Tagen war das Fahrrad da. Ich hatte mich gefreut das es dich ging und wurde dann enttäuscht das die Upgrades nicht mit dabei waren. Warte übrigens immer noch drauf. Obwohl sie eigentlich schon längst vorrätig sein sollten.

Dann hatte ich beim fahren festgestellt das es ein Problem mit der Gabel gibt wo mir absurde Lösungen angeboten wurden in 24 Stunden Abständen.

Jetzt habe ich ein bezahltes Fahrrad hier was einfach nur rumsteht. Hätte ich mir lieber woanders eins geholt.

Vielleicht bekomme ich ja noch eine vernünftige Lösung angeboten und es wird nicht nur gesagt das mir was angeboten wird..

Bad service

Bad service. As soon as they'd got my order they were pretty silent and uncooperative. Wild recommendations and lack of comms. I'd never recommend them.

Less than a year of use has passed and…

Less than a year of use has passed and the battery has lost half its capacity the service slows down communication and does not want to change it! very bad!!! I do not recommend anyone to contact this company, they deceive customers, load them with stupid demands and then refuse service, this is very uncultured, it is very offensive and unpleasant!

LE 20 Passenger - Not Safe

I have never written a review before. But this is the worst bike I have ever owned - LE20 Passenger. Within 5 months the chain broke for no apparent reason. The kickstand fell off and then the motor stopped working. The mechanic who looked at it, said the parts were sub par and the kickstand itself was not designed for the weight of the bike, let alone a child. It's been a month and the service team still haven't managed to fix it. Even if they do, I don't feel safe putting my child on it anymore.

Il servizio clienti è riuscito a trovare una soluzione molto soddisfacente per un inconveniente meccanico dovuto forse ad assemblaggio. E' molto importante offrire garanzie quando si acquista online ed Engwe si è rivelata all'altezza delle aspettative. Bravi!

Worst company to have to deal with

Worst company to have to deal with, dont buy from them. Dont know if there is a difference between eu and us. This was eu, just dont buy from them. Save your money or spend them somewhere els. Their (english) number on their site doesnt even work and im pretty sure its only AI answering on their mail with bad responses that wont help, just annoy the .... out of you.

Jeg købte den nye Engwe P275 pro og…

Jeg købte den nye Engwe P275 pro og efter 4 måneder holdte den op med at virke. Nu her efter 4 måneder virker den stadig ikke. Har haft fat i dem og de har sendt dele for at jeg selv kan forsøge at reparer den. Hvis man sender sin cykel til en cykelhandler for at reparer den mister man garantien.

Hvis man ikke selv kan reparer sin cykel, kan jeg ikke anbefale at købe en cykel igennem Engwe. Den eneste måde at komme i kontakt med er igennem email og nogle telefonnummer i Frankrig som ikke eksistere når man ringer til dem.

A+ Fantastic customer service

Det er vores anden cykel vi har købt - meget tilfreds.
Har lagt mærke til Engwe bliver solgt mange forskellige steder online, men vi køber kun fra Engwe.eu online. De svare altid spørgsmål og da min mands oplader pludselig ikke virket fik vi en nu samme uge, uden nogen problemer.
Så utrolig glad for vores cykler her fra.
