They have gotten worse over the years
They have gotten worse over the years- 3rd car now was hoping for more - flexs VERY easilly in the heat. Clips don't hold mats down. The mat in the back of my truck (F-150) holds Because no one is back there but the front two do not.
I had exact mats on my previous vehicle and they changed colors by the 4th year. Contiplating all weather mats because these aren't doing it for me. Potentially last time I buy exact mats.

To give you a bit more insight into our product, the material is meant to lay flat at room temperature, and of course, since it's vinyl, it will get more flexible the hotter it gets. With that said, there's no risk of safety or quality if the mat becoming more flexible. On the other hand, if the clips are not holding the mat down, we definitely want to speak with you about this. It's possible the clips are not in the ideal location, or something else may be going on.

Perfect mats for Mercedes GLC 300
I got these mats for my Mercedes GLC 300. The matts fit perfectly - and I do mean perfectly. They are an exact cut for this car. I have them placed on top of the carpet mats. The surface is just right in that the feet do not slide on them, yet the mat appears clear. Highly recommended.
As a side note, there was a minor delay with the shipping. The company took care of that and pro-actively applied a discount. So very happy with the overall buying experience also.

The mats are smooth and water will run off edges to flooring below.
The mats are not secured to the floor buttons yo hold the mats in place. The top of then mats are smooth and will not keep water from running off. The mats have a strong order.

To give you some background though, a big reason to choose ExactMats is the clear aspect, not the ability to hold liquid in the mat itself. Our mats are incredibly durable, but they are completely flat (a reason many people purchase them) and as such, they do not have lips to hold large quantities of liquid inside them.
As for the odor, what you're smelling is fresh, virgin vinyl. Virgin vinyl (more info here: https://www.exactmats.com/blogs/exactmats/105933830-why-virgin-vinyl) is new, and not repurposed vinyl. That means you can count on the quality. However, vinyl can have a slight smell when you first open the box. This is similar to how some plastic (usually vinyl) shower curtains smell a bit until it airs out some outside of the box it came in. Typically, the smell is gone before it arrives at our customers' homes, but sometimes it can take an extra couple of days.

Exact mats for my 2017 Lincoln MKX
The exact mats are in fact cut to the exact shape and size of the factory mats. I like the quality of the product. The only thing I would have liked is to have the drivers mat extended behind the gas and break petals to protect against winter slush and salt.

As you mentioned, our mats are cut to the exact shape and size of the factory mats. If the factory mats were not made to go under the foot pedals, we don't make ours to go under the pedals either.
However, that said, you should still have some serious protection under the bulk of the area.
