First off in their API documentation you cant even test it properly, Q1-Q4 options for period aren’t even available but its available through the actual API. Only “annual” or “Quarter” can be used in their API real-time test thing. So you have to manually write URL links…whats the point in even having the API real-time
Testing feature then.

Secondly, you can’t even use the “TTM” for income statment, balance sheet or cashflow statement in the paid starter plan. So you can’t even fully test with their initial paid plan… like do you expect me to buy the “ultimate” plan just so I can test if FMP is even good…

Lastly, their data sucks. For too many tickers they got wack revenue numbers, every single other API has similar numbers and FMP is like that one kid in the test who gets x= square root of -1 while everyone else gets x = 5.

Honestly this was such a waste of my time because I tried so hard to make FMP work with my application but it just sucks so bad that I need to go back, pick a different provider, and re-adapt my entire database to their API from FMP’s API.

I’ve been using the enterprise plan for a few years now. Their stable APIs have been especially reliable for back testing and building indicators like moving averages and multi-factor models. Data consistency has been solid, and I haven’t run into major gaps or breaking changes.

I subscribed to Financial Modeling Prep based on their promises of comprehensive market data coverage, quality, and reliability.

After running extensive tests, I quickly discovered that their actual market data coverage was far lower than what they had claimed. Disappointed, I decided to cancel my subscription. When I canceled, I explicitly stated in the cancellation reason that the lack of coverage was the issue. I did not receive an immediate confirmation, but assumed it would come within a day or two.

That was a mistake.

Five months later, I noticed on my bank statements that they had been charging me $140 every single month – even after I had canceled. That's nearly $700 taken from my account for a service I was no longer using and had already rejected.

I contacted my bank and disputed the charges. In response, the company pointed to a clause buried deep in their terms and conditions – something I had never been asked to acknowledge during cancellation. Their policy essentially says they will keep charging you until you receive a confirmation from them. And that confirmation? It never comes.

No legitimate service provider hides behind fine print to keep charging customers who have clearly canceled. This isn't a misunderstanding – it's a pattern. At best, it's deeply deceptive. At worst, it's a scam.

If you value your time, your money, or your trust in financial data providers, stay far away from this company.

I tried their product just for 2 days and I'm disappointed by it so I asked a refund but they told me they can't refund because blabla a line in their policies while their product is 100% API access with 0 cost almost..
I won't recommend it to my community and the people around me in the SaaS community

good easy api but data not accurate, which makes it worthless. i guess good data is expensive. can not rely on this to make investment decisions

I've been using FMP API for 2 years. It's quite stable and there is a lot of data. Pricing is fair & customer support is really good. So far I has a really great experience!

I'm still exploring all the functionalities, but the API already seems very impressive.

Worth it just for the amazing customer support!

Do not recommend. The company markets a year’s subscription, but buyer beware. No refunds, and their data is garbage.

Best customer support I've ever experienced in any online service by far. Data quality in fundamentals and earnings is more consistent than any of the retail-targetted competitors that I've tried, e.g., Polygon-Massive/AlphaVantage. Huge plus: if you find an issue in the data, you let them know and it's fixed very quickly. Super happy, I totally recommend!

Genius for data handling via API calls from scripts, without much configuration for data fetching, easy plug and play and therefor very helpful in work processes, which need less complexity for each step in order to have the pipeline in bigger picture seamlessly flowing. Great and very practical collaborator.

I used FMP this last year and was satisfied with the product, but ran into an unexpected challenge with my payments/billing. After reaching out, they immediately helped resolve the issue – big shoutout to Hannah and the FMP support team.

FMP's services and products are comprehensive, timely and accurate.

I like them. They are improving. Just check some of the data with another source and report back to them if anything wrong. At this price, getting data thru APIs is a good deal.

The service functioned pretty much as I expected but they have made it difficult to get rid of a subscription. The system always gives an "error" when trying to end the subscription - which I tried to do several times on two different days and different browsers. Eventually I blocked payments from my credit card to prevent subscription renewal.

Edit: I'll respond to the company's feedback below. I didn't contact support because 1) I wasn't sure whether the inability to end subscription was an intentional tactic from the company's behalf and 2) it shouldn't be necessary to contact support to end subscription. I tried to remove the credit card myself (to prevent subscription renewal) but FMP's system prevented this as well and notified me that I couldn't do that because I had an active subscription.

I therefore could neither downgrade to free plan nor remove my card from the payment method after about 10 attempts on two different days. The company is now saying that the subscription was actually changed to a free plan but why was credit card removal then also prevented?

Finally, the error message I received when trying to end the subscription numerous times was always: "Subscription couldn't retrieve successfully".
