I feel completely cheated and misled by Fiximer, and my entire experience with them has been a disaster. I visited their showroom in Doncaster in person, and none of the staff informed me about what I was actually buying. On top of that, when the boards did not meet my expectations regarding the wood grade, the company completely mismanaged the delivery organization and logistics required to return them, making the whole replacement process a nightmare. To make matters worse, one board was entirely missing from our order, forcing I to drive back to the showroom to purchase it separately. During that visit, he also returned their proprietary Hard Wax Oil directly to the shop. Visually, the design of the stairs is beautiful and modern, but the real quality is cleverly hidden.The truth about the product only came to light because we were preparing for a DIY installation. While watching the instructional videos that Fiximer provides for its customers, we became highly suspicious. The videos show the installation being done without leaving any expansion gaps—shoving the boards tightly against the risers and gluing them directly under the step. Because we were under the impression that we had bought solid oak, this method completely contradicted standard timber installation guidelines and raised immediate red flags. This prompted us to carefully scrutinize every single specification on their website one by one.That is when we discovered the company masterfully manipulates headings. The word 'Oak' is highlighted everywhere, while the fact that it is an 'engineered' (layered) product is hidden in the tabs in tiny print. For someone outside the joinery industry, this does not raise any suspicion. Only then did it turn out that while paying for 'oak', you actually pay for plywood covered with just a few millimetres of oak! Worst of all, the information about the thickness of this layer is completely omitted in the specifications – both the Modern and Classic ranges lack any data regarding the thickness of the oak veneer. This information is absolutely essential for the customer to be aware of during future renovations; without knowing the thickness of the layer, sanding the boards could easily rub right through to the plywood, irreversibly ruining the product. The lack of these critical parameters drastically reduces the lifespan of the stairs, which, as an intensively used feature, must be regularly refurbished.Another glaring error by the company is their contradictory and damaging technical instructions regarding finishing. In their official specification, the company permits the use of oils, yet fails to provide information on what grit was used for the initial factory sanding. At the same time, in the enclosed brochure, Fiximer suggests a fine sand with 240 grit. Initially, this 240 grit recommendation made sense because we had purchased Fiximer's own wax oil, which matched that recommendation. However, after returning their wax oil and switching to a dedicated Osmo 3044 Raw oil with white pigment, their guidelines became a major issue. Osmo strictly requires the wood pores to be opened (120–150 grit). Believing I had solid oak, I proceeded to sand the stairs with a sander according to the oil manufacturer's requirements, only to discover Fiximer's instructions completely contradict correct joinery methods for oils. At 240 grit the wood is too smooth, closing the pores, meaning it will not absorb the pigment and will cause stains!I suggest changes for Fiximer: in your brick-and-mortar store, among the painted products, a physical cross-section of each board must be displayed, and the staff must honestly explain to unaware customers what they are buying and provide reliable technical parameters and installation instructions. The word 'engineered' must be clear and meaningful, and the oak thickness must be transparently listed on the website for every product. At the moment, it is just a clever way to hide the truth from people visiting your showroom."

The product is itself is really good and good quality. Delivery was fast and i called to ask about newell post the ,person on the phone was really polite and helpful. However i have some metal spindles left which they are happy to take back but they charge a 10% restock fee! Ive never known a company to that.but make sure you dont order too much.

I took a deep plunge when I decided to do the job myself and replace my staircase carpet with wooden stair treads. Where it seemed impossible, FIMIMER's kit cladding system and purchase options made this dream a reality.

Quite frankly I'm only a DIY weekender but it was their kit that gave me the hope and possibility to move ahead. In a market full of laminate flooring and imitation wood, I am still amazed by the vast range of solid wood treads and flooring stocked here. I especially came to appreciate the different price points offered here, even the cheapest still possessing the solid wood finish. I went ahead with the Prime Oak collection and White Risers which was exactly the look and feel I wanted! I found the website to be incredibly helpful - I was able to buy this kit which specified everything, including optional extras. For instance, tread measuring rulers, template sets, gloves. Most usefully, the website also provides a calculated number of adhesive bottles and wooden flooring based on requirements. This all proved incredibly helpful in getting the order in and committing to the transformation once and for all.

The service was exceptional. While the order does take a while to get readied and dispatched, it was nevertheless within the promised time. I even got a call back after many week just to let me know an item had to be swapped due to the limited stock. Once dispatched, the huge order was swiftly delivered to my house. Props to the delivery service as well who delivered the heavy boxes without damage.

After nearly 3 months of weekend work, I can safely say my staircase project is finished! The supplied treads are truly gorgeous - hardy, natural and smooth where it seems no compromises have been made in the sourcing and production. I have since treated it with wood oil and it continues to comfortably endure many steps and cleans.

I ordered a sample through this company. The cost was £1.31 and they had the audacity to charge me £12.00 postage. Complete rip off. The sample item would fit through any standard letterbox. Moving forward I will not be using Fiximer

Not too impressed with this company.
Poor communication.
When you call them they talk to you like you are a lowlife.
The order took ages to arrive.
We also ordered 1 metal stair panel too many at £50 each and, when we called to ask if we could return it they told us we were over the 30 days return policy by 3 days and wouldn't accept a refund - a joke.
We will not be using this company again.

Amazing service from fiximer. I ordered oak stair cladding and newell post cladding. Had an issue with the bullnose riser which was delivered cracked, this was a courier error. Fiximer were fantastic about it and delivered a brand new, undamaged one within 2 days.
The quality of oak on the steps is unbelievable!! Very thick, solid oak. It looks amazing. Very heavy so you can feel the quality. I can’t recommend fiximer enough. They are the best around and at a price that is hard to beat

Fiximer, what a service, great company to deal with, the staff were understanding of the complexities that occur onsite and made the project look amazing

First time dealing with a company who wanted to argue with the customer. Know your rights before dealing with this company.
1) Under UK consumer law, charging a restocking fee for returns is generally unlawful if the item was bought online and returned within your statutory cancellation period.
2)You have up to 30 days from receiving the delivery to return faulty items. If the fault affects the whole project, you can reject the whole order for a full refund, including original delivery costs.
Fiximer - no need to attach your company policy to this review, you sent it to me 3 times during the long drawn out process of returning faulty/mis-sold items for a refund, your policy is in need for review.
