I am eternally grateful that I found gendatabase.com.I had exhausted all avenues in the search for my Grandfathers ID. number, that was urgently needed to apply for his death certificate. Not only did Yvonne respond so quickly to my online enquiry, but within an hour she emailed me a copy of every document I needed. I cannot thank you enough Yvonne, you really made my week. Kind regards Daniella

Gendatabase - good service at a good price
This database is very useful for South African genealogy research. Although there is not always a direct link to microfiche films, the reference number is provided, allowing the original films to reviewed on the Familysearch.org website. When I couldn't find any more info on one of my relatives, Gendatabase advised that I apply for a vault copy of the birth certificate and even helped me to obtain the identity number. The membership fee of just under R300 for a month's access is very reasonable.
