I am a massive fish and chips lover, but this was not the best I have ever had. I had a standard cod and chips, nothing out of the ordinary.
Maybe it was just a bad day, but I wont be back anytime soon.

Well? Omg? From the service to the meal, terrible. The fish was greasy , swimming in fat, the mushy peas were more like a pea soup and the chips were poor. Never again.

Gills fish and chips horden chips not cooked properly, Indian curry had far to much salt in it, the chips need cooking a bit longer, and stop putting to much salt into the curry,

Honestly the worst fish & chips I’ve ever had. All went in the bin . Batter on fish was sloppy and greasy . Chips tasted old and reheated . Curry sauce was vile . I hadn’t used this shop before and will never return . Wish I’d read the other reviews first . I’d actually give it a ZERO rating

ignorant people who work there , more bothered about phone orders than serving in the shop .

Charged extra for sauce which we didn’t get in order, the chips were cold, the kebab pizza was missing the kebab meat and the chicken tikka kebab was like no other chicken I have seen or tasted slimy and fatty the worst ever. The salad was fresh and plentiful but I didn’t go to a fast food place for the nice salad…so basically avoid anything they cook it’s inedible. Will never use again 🤢🤮 went in the bin!!

Terrible after waiting nearly 1 and a half hours my order was wrong, ordered a smoked sausage supper and got a single smoked sausage. First and last time using this chippy

Twice cooked chips? Don't think they'd even been cooked once! Very pale and with a bit of bite! Didn't eat them. Cheese savoury should be called mashed potato savoury, couldn't taste any cheese. Didn't eat it. Had it delivered and by the time it got to me (two mins away) the whole thing was only luke warm. Had to put the onion rings in the oven to heat up. Deeply disappointing. Will not be using them again.

Listen to what your customers ask for ,and not very nice food fish dry ,batter to thick, chips cold ,never got my sauce on cod bites and chips ,and asked for batter bits never got them, so for over £14 felt I got a bad deal ,

We only have fish & chips once a year as a treat & always go to Gills in Wallsend.
This year wasn't good with the fish flat & greasy & curry sauce...I don't know what it was but it was like nothing I have tasted before.
A real disappointment & won't be going back.

Donna wrap arrived stone cold, had to unwrap and microwave, and tasted not very good at all almost inedible. No chips delivered with the burger test cost over £5 for one burger in a bun on its own.

I had the haddock and chips here, and I’m still amazed by the sheer size of the haddock! Cooked to perfection, with a crispy golden batter and tender, flaky fish inside. The chips were just right—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It’s hard to find fish and chips this good. I’ll definitely be returning!

Gills in Amble.
Ordered for delivery to Warkworth, arrived relatively quickly and the food was hot.
No haddock (perhaps that's a northern thing), but the cod was quite a sizeable portion.
Unfortunately the chips were anaemic and greasy and the batter on the cod was not crispy and was quite thin.
Mushy peas were OK and not full of colouring.
A bit of a disappointment.

Excellent haddock and chips. Still getting over the size of the haddock!

Took the family to Ponteland Gills and we all had different meals - all were exceptionally good! The portions were very generous and the staff were friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere and definitely worth a try!

Wow if there was an award for the worst fish and chips these would win hands down, the chips were re-heats and just dark oily bits or ends, they were tasteless and inedible, I thought oh.. a nice thick bit of fish but it was just clumps of half cooked batter, I’d rather spend £17 elsewhere in future, appalling how a fish and chip shop can get it so wrong!!!

Very disappointed. The food was swimming in oil which tasted stale. The batter was very undercooked . I received the wrong order , I had to ring them as we waited more than an hour.It was inedible. I gave the fish to my dogs and 1 refused to eat it. A very expensive throw away. £21 and only offered half price on my next order 🤬
