I have a complicated UK-US tax situation and needed help untangling some prior errors in my HMRC filings asap. Having dealt with things myself originally (and pretty much correctly, as it turned out), I then had two *terrible* experiences with two sets of UK-based accountants, both of whom swore that they understood how the UK-US tax treaty worked (they didn't) and strongly implied I was an idiot for how I had done things (actually, I'd been in the right). I really fear for their other customers, if they've all been given the same incorrect advice! Unfortunately, I didn't realize how bad their advice was until *after* I'd paid one of them to help me re-file my taxes with HMRC :(
Fortunately, I finally found Emma and GTC, who confirmed my original understanding (and was patient and sympathetic as I then had a near-meltdown over zoom), and then went FAR beyond that in advising me of what to do next and how to re-(re-!)file. Not only did Emma patiently explain the entire situation and what steps I needed to take, she speedily produced my new tax filing documents (including a deduction I wouldn't have known about), and was always extremely fast to respond to inputs I provided or to my (usual) multitude of questions. She also helped me to appeal against more penalties and kept me updated on that process, which appears to have been successful at this stage. Emma has consistently gone above and beyond for me - I'm extremely grateful, and I would not hesitate to recommend her!

Great advice, well given and implemented

I recently moved overseas and tried to sort out my tax affairs,but calling and writing to HMRC was a waste of time and their web site is contradictory in places. Found these reviews which made me contact Emma. There is a reason they are all 5 stars,it is because Emma really understands the rules and how to apply your situation to the format HMRC require. Within 2 weeks my residence status was determined,tax return submitted and refund in my bank account. Highly recommended.

As an expat who has recently returned to England, I had been looking for a UK-based accountant for several months, primarily to file my taxes, and also to provide lots of ancillary tax advice. After considerable research, I found Emma and GTC.
Emma is friendly, smart and competent, extremely knowledgeable about the UK tax code and HMRC procedures, and very much on top of things. The GTC website and wizard are well designed – better than others I have encountered – making uploading to the portal easy. Emma returned my emails or messages within hours, with full and complete responses, and provided other support and HMRC communication quickly and efficiently. My taxes were completed within days, and Emma stayed abreast of things to ensure the payment went through properly.

Emma and GTC made filing UK taxes as stress-free as possible. I will certainly use their services again next year.
