A Great Resource for Future Group Home Owners
My experience with Group Home University has been great. Starting the licensing process for a BHRF can feel overwhelming, but having someone walk me through it step by step has made a huge difference. The guidance and resources have helped me understand what needs to be done and have given me a lot more confidence throughout the process.
One of my favorite parts of the program has been the opportunity to shadow one of their group homes. Seeing everything in person has been incredibly helpful because it gives you a realistic picture of what running a group home actually looks like day to day. It's one thing to read about policies and licensing requirements, but it's completely different to see how everything comes together in a real facility. Watching how the staff interact with residents, how the home is organized, and how they handle daily operations answered a lot of questions I didn't even know I had. It made the whole process feel much more achievable.
I've also appreciated how approachable and supportive my mentor has been. Whenever I've had questions or wasn't sure about something, she's taken the time to explain things in a way that makes sense. You can tell she genuinely wants people to succeed and isn't just trying to sell a program.
Overall, I'm really glad I joined Group Home University. Between the mentorship, the practical guidance, and the opportunity to shadow a working group home, I feel much more prepared to open my own BHRF than I did when I first started.
