I have had a great experience with Hatchways thus far. They respond quickly to questions and do a good job sharing your profile with hiring companies. The feedback from the assessments has been particularly helpful, allowing me to improve upon my previous submissions.

Feedback in the live project assignment could be a lot faster.

As a web developer looking to start my career, I highly recommend Hatchways. From the initial screening project to the job hunt, Hatchways has provided me with great support throughout the entire process.

I enjoyed working on the assessments and learning more about front-end and back-end. I received quality feedback and they are very thorough.

As a self-taught dev, Hatchways has been a blessing. Code reviews provide opportunity to improve your skills and the time I have invested would have been completely worth it just for the experience of the assessments alone; to have the support in finding employment now is beyond all expectations and such an incredible resource.

1. After completing the assessment and interview project, my profile was shared with companies which resulted in interviews. Hatchways helped me land opportunities I would have not been able to land on my own.

If you are trying to get your foot in the door of the tech industry as a developer, you need to get Hatchways in your life!! In fact, junior or not, you need to get Hatchways in your life!!

As any aspiring developer knows, without a computer science degree, it is very difficult to land that first developer job. Regardless of how much you have learned, how good you are, how efficient you are, etc, companies don’t seem to want to touch you without 3 - 5 years of experience in the field, which is crazy for entry-level/junior positions, as the titles suggest, these should be 0 years of experience.

I spent over a year teaching myself software development and applying to jobs in the field. It didn’t take me long to realise that the traditional application process was a terribly inefficient way of going about it. The return on effort was almost non-existent, and the amount of applicants for each junior position was probably approaching around the 1000 mark (all platforms considered). So it wasn’t surprising to see that after 700 - 800 applications, I only received a handful of responses and interviews.

Step in Hatchways. They were recommended by someone at the beginning of my Journey before I realised how brutal the job search was going to be.
After so many applications, I bit the bullet and started the 1st project. It was amazing. Everyone was very communicative and I learned so much. I passed that and went on to the 2nd project. In my opinion, this was even more amazing, as it is set up like a collaborative project and gives you that experience that we can’t really get elsewhere as a junior.

The experience you gain doing these projects is worth it alone!! I learned so much!

However, after teaching myself and applying to dev jobs for over a year, after having received confirmation of passing the 2nd/final project, Hatchways had referred me to a company on that very day, in which I had an interview set up! That is unbelievably efficient!!

The bottom line is, after all that time, Hatchways did for me in under a month, what the traditional application process couldn’t do for me in over a year of applications. Yes….. from the day I found out I had passed the 2nd project, it took them less than a month to get me my 1st developer job, the job I currently have!! Thank you so so much!!

The 1st project is straight forward enough, it’s front-end and you build it from scratch, most likely like projects you may have done in your learning. The 2nd project is an existing code base that you have to fix bugs on and add new features (just like you would as a developer), so this is great experience that juniors don’t really ever get the chance of gaining. I learned soooo much on both projects, especially the 2nd one! The 2nd one is tough….. this is a good thing! You won’t know everything….. this is a good thing! This exactly emulates what you will have to do, quite literally, on a daily basis as a developer. Solving problems. It flexes the muscle you will need when you finally land that job. Stick with it, you will be able to work out how to fix that bug. Remember, Hatchways also has a duty to fill for their employment partners, which is to provide them with pre-vetted candidates that they believe can do the job.

Just a couple more things. My best analogy is that Hatchways is a constant source of referral once you’ve passed the projects, you don’t have to apply for anything, they forward your profile and get you the interviews. In under a month they had forwarded my profile to around 9 or 10 companies. It was the 2nd company I interviewed with that extended me an offer….. which I delightfully accepted. Also, the interview prep you get is amazing!! Very thorough. For some of the job referrals, you even get tailored interview prep, if their tech stack, etc, tends to veer from the standard.

I owe both Sheril, Jaclyn, and the entire Hatchways team an eternal debt of gratitude. Thank you so much for getting me into tech!! I love it…. and that’s all thanks to you!!

Although I finished my project my project interview was unsuccessful because I had some problems with git hub but your team is excellent they helped me whenever i asked. I applied for a position that I found on an online job posting and was reached out from someone from the Hatchways team to do a series of assessments. One short assessment and a project interview assessment. I thought the whole process was a great way to be able to gauge the knowledge and experience of an engineer by creating something that closely resembles tasks one might do on an engineering team. Things like fixing bugs and implementing new features to an already existing codebase. Throughout the process the team was very helpful and very responsive to any questions or concerns I had. Most importantly I've been able to get multiple interviews with the tech companies that the team works with and I'm very thankful for that. Thank you team Hatchways!

The Hatchways team was so absolutely amazing! I am a fresh computer system graduate with no real-world project experience. I was referred to Hatchways by the software company that I applied to. During the two assessments and project interview, I received so many constructive feedbacks from the reviewers. I have gained much confidence on my skills. After I completed my project interview, I got my first software developer job interview within a week as promised!

Good job search process. Went through and received offer from company they recommended. Unfortunately after accepting the offer and resigning from my old position, the company i was supposed to start with pushed my start date to an undisclosed date leaving me stranded. Wished they could have done better background checks on the company so this issue would not have occurred. I really appreciate all the help they have done for since this issue occurred and helping me land interviews :)

Hatchways' project interview is the most creative and immersive experience I've ever had. They also provide many tips for your interview processes.
Hatchways helped me with many startup interview opportunity. The wonderful people at Hatchways are also very involved in the whole process and committed to your success.

At first, getting through the initial assessment and project was quite a long process. The project took two weeks of programming about 3 hours a day. The feedback provided was very detailed and extremely useful. The staff is friendly and always willing to help.

Afterwards, Hatchways would consistently provide me updates on jobs they've helped me apply to. It was frequent enough to the point that I stopped focusing on applying to positions myself and instead focused on preparing for interviews. They provided a lot of resources on their site too for preparing for specific types of interviews.

In the end, I received two offers from two Hatchways companies and happily accepted one of them! The process was entirely free and I would recommend it to anyone starting out in the industry if you have the time to put into it.
