Huggingface is a scammer company. Charges even for not using their dead site. Very sneaky. Do not waste your time and money. If you are reading this you got lucky? before they pull a fast one on you. Cancel and delete you account.

Sits between the developer and the user.

Acting as a gatekeeper for no reason whatsoever but to make life as difficult as it possibly can.

Like estate agents or recruitment agents, just completely pointless middlemen who insert themselves between the wall and the wallpaper to try and get some financial angle at a future date.

Don't be that middleman making life difficult for people, if you have free models, just let people wget or curl them easily and transparently, don't jerk them around with logins and all that nonsense.

I tried to create an AI video. It said I had reached my limit, even though I hadn't created any images (I wasn't using a VPN). It then said create a PRO account to continue. In summary, don't waste your time using the alleged free trial. It doesn't work. You don't even get one video. Maybe this is a temporary fault, because surely nobody is going to sign up if they don't get to test it first. Either way, it just wasted my time.

Please be cautious when giving this company your email. They will spam you and not provide an unsubscribe button.

If you have your account and can navigate their site, then you can eventually get this sorted out. Still, it is unacceptable to send repeated emails w/o an unsubscribe button!

I subscribed to the Hugging Face PRO plan after being told within HuggingChat itself (powered by a HF-hosted model) that I would get access to LLaMA 3.1 405B Instruct as a PRO user.

However, right after subscribing, I found out this model was not actually available through HuggingChat, even with PRO. I immediately requested a refund, well within the 14-day cancellation period as protected by EU consumer law.

I had read all available documentation and subscription terms before purchasing – but Hugging Face's official information is very vague. There is no clear list of which models are actually included in HuggingChat with a PRO plan. And if one of their own models misleads users in the chat interface, that's misrepresentation, plain and simple.

I reached out to support multiple times, provided a detailed explanation, and asked for a quick resolution – so far without a clear or fair reply. I also barely used the platform after the issue, which clearly shows my immediate disappointment.

It’s unfortunate, because Hugging Face has some great open-source tools. But the way this situation has been handled so far is disappointing and unprofessional.

If this isn't resolved, I’ll escalate the case to the German Consumer Protection Agency (Verbraucherzentrale) and the European Consumer Centre (ECC).
