Since Changing from Fatlama to Hygglo I noticed it state to list the "Market value of your item" e.g. if you were to sell it on facebook marketplace or similar platform.

This breaches the basic Insurance priniple of idemnity putting you back in the same position as you were previously. E.g. If I spent 2k on mountain bike I use seasonaly and have ridden a handfull of times and someone decides to steal it or gets stolen. I won't get the same bike back new or equivlant. Instead I would get a depreciated "market value rate" payout and if I wanted to go buy the same bike. I would not even be able to go buy it.

Considering I have loaned out items in the past not returned on time, or that have been damaged e.g. heavily scratched and dented.

I do not feel safe loaning out my equipment under the insurance terms.

It is also a massive hassel dealing with peoples enquiries on equipment and having to wait around the house until they pick it up and for when they return it.

If i'm loaning out my valuables, I don't want to risk getting them abused with no compensation and if stolen get half the value I paid for them. Nah thanks I'm deleting my account.

Perfect way to use your rarely used things for the benefit of others.
The app has worked well in my case.

Enkelt och smidigt sätt att hyra grejer. Litet minus för att priserna är ganska höga för enklare grejer.

Excellent app. So easy to rent things nearby and so great for the environment that we share instead of buy. Great be rented anything’s already from a SUP to a power saw and certainly don’t have the space in my flat to have bought these!

I both rent and rent out equipment and have done for years.

I have to use it for myself and to rent it out.
It is very helpful to make some pocket money or to develop a good rental business.
I really hope to be a European user so I can rent out in each country I will have to visit.

Jeg er bare så utrolig fornøyd med å ha muligheten til å leie saker og ting som jeg ikke i utgangspunktet er interessert i å investere i. Jeg har brukt Hygglo ved flere anledninger (stor kaffetermos, møbelrensmaskin etc). Det siste tilfellet var leie av fotoutstyr til en hastejobb. Jeg hadde glemt hele fotobagen i feriehuset vårt og løsningen ble å leie utstyr her for å gjennomføre jobben. Det er så mange utleiere her som er raske å respondere og tilbyr akkurat det jeg trenger. Ti tomler opp fra meg! :)

**Extremely disappointing, particularly as this was for our wedding.**

We rented a camcorder specifically to film our wedding, and the lender, Yian, knew this was the purpose of the rental. Unfortunately, around 20 minutes into our ceremony, the camcorder suddenly turned off and would not turn back on. We charged it, but it remained unusable for the entire weekend. When we removed the SD card, we discovered that the ceremony footage had been completely lost. A friend experienced in film believed the battery had failed.

We reported the problem to the lender immediately and returned the camcorder. He subsequently told us that he had managed to get it working again.

Hygglo's policy states that when an item suffers "sudden and unforeseen damage, loss, or theft during a rental", the rental is covered by insurance or the Lender Guarantee. However, Hygglo ultimately refunded only their £33 fee, refusing to refund the £60 rental cost because they said there was not enough evidence to establish whether the camera was defective.

I find this extremely frustrating because we immediately reported the failure, tried charging the camera, it remained unusable for the rest of the weekend, and the lender subsequently told us that he had managed to get it working again. What further evidence could we realistically have provided as renters? We are not technicians and had no way of independently testing or diagnosing the camera. More importantly, Hygglo's policy does not state that the renter must provide technical evidence proving that an item is defective in order to receive this protection.

This makes me question what circumstances their protection is actually intended to cover. If a camera suddenly stops working during a rental, is immediately reported, remains unusable for the remainder of the rental and is then returned to the lender, what evidence is a renter realistically expected to provide to demonstrate that a defect occurred?

The handling of the lender was also extremely concerning. He said he would submit the claim, but only if we first left him a positive review. When we said we would be happy to leave a review once everything had been resolved, he responded: "If I cannot trust you to leave a good review right now, I cannot trust you to leave one after I pay you", followed by: "If that does not work with you then feel free to leave a bad review… It will just be unfortunate as you will not get any refund."

We reported these messages to Hygglo, along with our explanation of what happened with the camera, but they did not appear to take any action regarding this behaviour and the lender remains on the platform.

We also left an honest review of our experience, which has not appeared on his profile.

Overall, this has been extremely disappointing, particularly because the rental was for our wedding and the footage lost was irreplaceable. I would not recommend Hygglo based on our experience. If you do use the platform, I would be very cautious about renting photography or filming equipment through it.

Really useful platform for finding kit when the usual rental companies don’t have what you need. I couldn’t find what I was after locally, but Hygglo made it easy to find someone nearby.
