We celebrated our 25th anniversary travelling with our two grown-up daughters to Peru. I found Impactful Travel by coincidence – and I haven’t regretted it!!

A perfect planning process; all pick-ups were very punctual and there was a responsive dialogue during the trip.

We met the most friendly people – guides and hosts at homestays – who all shared their great knowledge about culture, nature, history, and life in Peru in general.

Our family now has the most fantastic memories for life.

Een onvergetelijk avontuur in Nazca

Dankzij Impactful Travel beleefden we een geweldige tijd in Peru. Guido en Olivier hielpen met een top reisschema, en ter plaatse stonden Rosbert en Patrick altijd klaar.

Onze dagen in Nazca waren gevuld met avontuur. We begonnen met een fietstour naar de eeuwenoude aquaducten van de Nazca-bevolking. Onderweg genoten we van de prachtige natuur en leerden we meer over de historische en archeologische plekken die we tegenkwamen. Vervolgens brachten we een bezoek aan een pottenbakkerij, waar lokale ambachtslieden ons de eeuwenoude technieken van hun vak lieten zien.

De volgende dag stond een zware maar adembenemende hike naar de hoogste woestijnduinen op het programma. In totaal waren we ongeveer 8 uur onderweg, waarvan de klim ongeveer 4 uur duurde. Het was intensief, maar het uitzicht vanaf de top maakte alles goed. Als beloning sloten we de klim af met een spannende sandboarding afdaling, wat de ervaring compleet maakte.

Onze gids Carlos was een waardevolle toevoeging aan deze avontuurlijke dagen. Hij had veel kennis over de natuur, de flora en fauna van Nazca en de omgeving. Af en toe zocht hij wat naar de juiste woorden, maar dat loste hij snel op met behulp van zijn telefoon. Carlos stond open voor feedback: tijdens de klim ging hij aanvankelijk te ver voor de groep uit, maar na onze opmerking zorgde hij ervoor dat we beter op elkaar afgestemd bleven, wat de ervaring nog aangenamer maakte. Al met al waren we erg tevreden met zijn begeleiding.

Een onvergetelijke ervaring die we niet snel zullen vergeten!

In September 2024, my daughter (28) and I (53) embarked on an unforgettable 14-day tour of Peru, organized by Impactful Travel. What a truly mind-blowing experience! The beauty of the landscape is overwhelming and simply cannot be captured by a camera.

The travel agency did an outstanding job. Everything was meticulously organized and extremely punctual, allowing us to enjoy a worry-free journey. Even after we emerged from the jungle, a taxi was ready and waiting to take us to our next destination. All the guides were knowledgeable and friendly, but one truly stood out: Octavio Puma.

If you are a Dutch speaker or Belgian considering a trip to Peru, be sure to request Octavio as your guide. This man speaks better Dutch than our queen and is not only incredibly kind but also highly entertaining. His enthusiasm and expertise added an extra layer of enjoyment to our trip.

My daughter and I had an absolutely fantastic time. If Peru is still on your bucket list, don’t hesitate for too long. Peru is challenging and not for the faint-hearted, but with Impactful Travel as your organizer, everything runs smoothly and pleasantly. I highly recommend it!

Guido and the 'Impactful Travel'-team helped us to put together a fantastic trip. From valuable connections in the fantastic Vicos (what sweet people!) To an adventurous trek with llamas in the Huascaran mountains. It was so good to be able to experience a tailor-made (and off the beaten path) experience with their insider-information. In addition to the trip, the personal contact also made the preparations very pleasant. We really enjoyed our experiences in Peru and could recommend it to everyone!

Impactful Travel heeft onze verwachtingen ruimschoots overtroffen. Onze reis was niet alleen perfect georganiseerd, maar bood ook unieke ontmoetingen met de lokale bevolking. In Lima genoten we van een goede tour inclusief een lekker kopje koffie met gids Rosario, en in Manu leerden we samen met de lokale inwoners koken en pijlen maken. Deze persoonlijke benadering en de diepgaande culturele ervaringen hebben onze reis speciaal en betekenisvol gemaakt. We raden Impactful Travel van harte aan!

Een fantastische individuele, 20 daagse Peru-reis! Alles tot in de puntjes verzorgde reis! Geen seconde onveilig gevoel gehad. Ik werd per taxi of gids afgehaald en verder gebracht, alles sloot op elkaar aan. Vooraf een hele fijne samenwerking om het gewenste programma samen te stellen met Indi. Alles liep zoals we het afgesproken hadden. Een leuke afwisseling hotels/homestay. Heel bijzonder "bij mensen thuis" te logeren. Eten voortreffelijk! Gidsen fantastisch: keken niet op 1-2-0f zelfs meer uren extra. En een Peruaanse gids die ook nog eens Nederlands spreekt, is geweldig! Kortom alleen maar lof!

A lifetime experience that we recommend everybody to have. My husband and I had a friend's wedding in Peru in May and as it was our first time in Latin America, we have decided to contact Responsible Travel Peru as we wanted a local agency that could give us the best local experiences. Since the beginning Myrna Lozada was in contact with us, designing our trip according to our desires and advising us on the best places to go given the time we had taken to be in Peru - two weeks. We did not have any problem, all taxis and transportation were there on time to pick us up, the hotels were very good with nice staff, the guides were amazing (a special thanks to Gabriela, our private guide in Cusco who we really enjoyed spending time with) and the cherry on the top of the cake was the community tourism we did in Coporaque. We suggest it to everybody now as it was a lifetime experience to be with a local family for two days. This is the kind of tourism that everybody should do at least once in their life as this is the best way to get to know the country and its people. I had a small problem with my luggage that was delayed for one week and a small health issue and Myrna was always advising me on places to go and what to do. Even in less good moments, Responsible was there. We would chose again and again without thinking twice Responsible Travel Peru for our travels :)

I booked 3 tours with Responsible Travel Peru within one week (one overnight stay on Taquile island / Titicaca lake and two 1-day tours in the Sacred Valley). The team of the agency was extremely responsive and helpful in organizing the plan, everything went perfectly well. Contact and communication with the local guides and native people participating in the activities were authentic, full of positive energy and “insider” information, making the trips (in particular the homestay on Taquile island) to truly immersive experiences. Thank you !

I can’t recommend this travel company enough. I was a bit wary of booking through a local provider with the lack of ATOL protection but read the reviews and decided to take a risk and am so glad I did! We had a tailormade itinerary booked for us (at very short notice) which included both the local trip to Manu (Amazon) and the Salkantay trek. We had all the information we could have needed to decide on our trip and whilst we were out there. We were met at every point with someone holding a sign so had no stress at all. The WhatsApp group they created was fantastic with someone always on hand - we had an issue with our trek (subcontractor not response), put a message into the chat and went off to the Amazon safe in the knowledge it would be sorted out when we returned (and it was, almost immediately). The experiences were even better than we expected and we will definitely use this company next time we come back to Peru!

Great trip to Lima, Cusco, Coffee Route, Machu Picchu, Huaraz and Vicos.
Homestays, hostels and hotels were all great. Transportation too and guides and drivers as well.
WhatsApp group was very nice to have for questions etc.

Agnes, Guido en de rest van het team hebben ons een onvergetelijke reis door het mooie Peru bezorgd. We hebben door COVID-19 pas ontzettend laat geboekt, maar dat bleek geen enkel probleem. In minder dan één week hebben ze voor ons een volledige reis in elkaar gezet van ruim 3 weken. Letterlijk alles klopte tijdens deze reis. Op elke locatie hadden we fantastische verblijfplaatsen, alle tickets werkten, busreizen verliepen goed, taxi’s stonden overal met onze naam klaar, gidsen haalden ons altijd stipt op tijd op (soms zelfs nog te vroeg) en zelfs als er iets mis ging wat buiten de macht van RESPONSIBLE travel Peru lag, hebben ze ons ondersteund en geholpen met het zoeken naar een oplossing. De persoonlijke benadering is fantastisch, voelt ontzettend vertrouwd en zorgt voor een fijn gevoel op reis. De gidsen waren van hoge kwaliteit en hebben ons echt goed mee op pad genomen door de verschillende plekken in Peru. De restauranttips zijn goed en ook de aangeboden activiteiten zitten goed in elkaar. Je staat 24/7 in contact met de organisatie en als er iets mis is staan ze meteen klaar om je te helpen. Mocht je naar Peru willen, dan is reizen met RESPONSIBLE travel Peru zeker een aanrader!

We just returned from a 14 days tailor-made partly private roundtrip Peru. Lima, Paracas, Balestas Islands, Cuzco, Secret Valley, Machu Pichu, Puno. A wonderful experience, very well organized by Astrid and her team, very clear information, excellent service, well chosen accommodations and experienced drivers and guides.

My experience with Reponsable has just been fantastic.

I find personalizing one´s trip an exciting way to explore not only Peru, but also other countries.
I first had a WhatsApp call with Alejandro to explain him my destination, trip duration and especially, what are my interest points. After that, Alejandro returned me with his great insight and feedback, introducing me the routes & possibilities that I´d never thought or read that Cusco & Titicaca would offer me.
- The guide that they offered me was amazing! Not only knowledgeable, but also very caring and good photographer (for a sole traveler, this is essential)! You can notice that, when they are well paid, they are more willing to perfect their job
- Surprisingly, I did my first mountain bike in my life in Ollantaytambo
- I did a llama trek solely, basically walked up to a hill in companion with apx 15 llamas, with 2 natives and had a quite picnic
- I spent the whole Christmas with Titicaca´s natives and I even explored villages and regions in which seemingly I was the only foreigner during that period

The whole wasn´t cheap, but certainly every penny was worthy taking into considerations that all the brand new experience that I had and all the unbelievable stuff I did.

We were very pleased with our trip, and especially with Eloy, our wonderful personal guide. The drivers were very helpful and friendly, and the hotels Responsible Travel selected for us turned out to be lovely places to stay. We are committed to sustainable travel, and we feel the trip was much more ecologically sound because we worked with a responsible company. Kudos to everyone involved!

Excellent trip, good hotels, well organized and planned. We especially want to recommend our wonderful guide in the Andes, Eloy Chambi Molina. Very knowledgeable, deeply connected to the old culture, he taught us about the plants and flowers along the trails, the customs and practices of the peoples of the Inca empire. He added so much to our experience. A terrific very engaging person. Highly recommended.

We spent almost 10 days with this excellent team in Peru and Bolivia. The whole tour was absolutely perfect! Organization, guides, support, hotels selection, local families etc etc. Resp travel agency is definitely one of the best organizations we have travelled with so far. I really wish there is more such professionals in this area in other countries!

The main aim of my trip was to practice Spanish in various homestays to gain an insight into Peruvian culture, and that is exactly what I got! I was so impressed with how smoothly everything went, and how my personal travel advisor, Pauline, was able to organize such a unique experience.

That I could message Pauline, Rosbert or their colleagues on Whatsapp was especially useful during transfers if taxis did not turn up on time, and gave me reassurance that if anything did go wrong I could always get help. I also wanted to mention the taxi drivers (I don’t know their names!) that picked me up in Lima when I first arrived, and the taxi driver that dropped me off in my final days in Lima, because they were extremely welcoming and talkative which put me at ease as soon as I arrived. It makes such a difference having good taxi drivers because they were often a friendly reassurance when I first arrived anywhere, as well as an extra chance to practice more Spanish.

The tips Respons gave me of things to do when I had free time really helped with structuring my days. The Colca Canyon was one of the best weekends I’ve had. Both these families in Sibayo and Coporaque were so friendly and welcoming, and I would love to return to see them again and explore more of the Canyon another time! I also really enjoyed the Salkantay Trek, making good friends, enjoying the delicious meals, and exploring the beautiful landscapes, with the reassurance of being able to use the back-up van when I injured my knee. It’s so good to know that the company acts as a mini-NGO providing support, training and guidance for local communities and training female porters.

I also enjoyed the Albergue Pankotsi experience in Manu. I particularly enjoyed getting to know Jesús and Walter, and Juan Carlos was also so kind and helpful and everyone did such a good job at giving me a memorable and enjoyable experience! I especially enjoyed the jewellery-making workshop with the kind owner’s wife and daughters (I feel awful to have forgotten their names!) and it was good to meet women from the community.

I loved all the hotels I stayed in, and Ninos Hotel in Cusco was especially good to have as a luxury break from the rest of the homestays and treks. I didn’t realize their restaurant runs from 6am-10pm until I got there, which was even more of an extra.

It is so great to know that my trip has contributed to sustainable tourism, benefitting Peruvians as much as possible, rather than a big package-deal international company. Overall, my trip was a fantastic experience and I’ve come back home with a love of Peru and definitely wanting to return again to re-visit some of the same places and explore more of the north as well!

Al principio fue solo la idea de viajar a Perú. Luego, un artículo en el blog QUER DURCH PERU sobre una visita a la selva tropical de Manu en la comunidad de Shipetiari. Y así me encontré con Resonsible Travel Perú, que finalmente organizó toda mi viaje de tres semanas y media a través de Perú.

Respons especializa en turismo comunitario. Y así visité a una familia de agricultores en Coparaque en el Vale de Colca, una cooperativa de tejedores en Ollantaytambo y el tribo dos Shipetiari en la selva tropical. Por supuesto tambien visité los atractivos turísticos como Machu Picchu, Cruz del Cóndor, Vale Sagrada, Lago Titicaca...

Todo organizado por Respons. Ya en la etapa de planificación, el interés en el viajero era notable para encontrar el itinerário más adecuado. Para mí, como una persona mayor, por ejemplo, los días de descanso intermedios fueron importantes. Y todo funcionó perfectamen durante la implementación. Qué gran sensación llegar a un nuevo lugsr , en avión, autobús o minibús, y alguien está esperando com mi nombre en un cartel que me lleve al hotel o donde sea. ¡Y esto cada vez!

El viajero se acompaña electrónicamente. Un grupo de Whatsapp te da acceso a soporte en todo momento. E incluso en lo imprevisto, se ha probado. Una parte del viaje no fue posible debido a una huelga con bloqueos de carreteras. Un programa súper alternativo se configuró para mí de inmediato.

Los/Las diferentes guías eran todos/todas altamente competentes y al mismo tiempo emocionantes personalidades. La imagen de la agencia también es buena: "¡Ajá vienes a través de Respons, eso es bueno!"

Y todo a un precio que resistió la comparación. Estoy 109% contente. Preguntem se queren saber mas.
