JD Gyms - Huddersfield Avis 

The sign up process is simple and easy, T&C’s simple and accessible.

The Huddersfield club I used is dated and lower standard than most other JD’s, small inadequate functional area.
Kit is cleaned to basic level.

Changing rooms spotless however.

Amazing range of equipment to use, lovely environment suitable for workouts and reliable service.. I love it at JD gym.

The staff was nowhere to find, half of the equipment was out of order, the gym is small despite looking very spacious on the pictures, no one was cleaning the equipment after themselves.

Just walk in the changing rooms and you will see . Drains blocked again and again and stinks .
No pins . Out of 11 pieces of equipment 6 had no pins .
Some staff clearly don’t know how to deal with customers

Machine are often broken, pins are missing from weight machines so over 50% are unusable. Queues for machines or groups of 3 or 4+ taking turns meaning long waits for machines. Weights and plates rarely put back or missing.
The ladies toilets often have no toilet paper, explosive bowel movements still in the toilet bowl or smelly overflowing sanitary bins

I've been with JD since the very beginning, and to start with it was great. But over the years there has been a lot of issues, I've spoken to staff (when you can find them!! Never on the gym floor) spoken to the manager on a numerous occasions and nothing seems to get done! Nothing changes! No matter how many times you bring something to their attention.

Recently I've started training with an instructor due to a back injury, and losing my confidence training.
We spend half the session looking for machines that are working.. as most have out of order sign on them. Or trying to find a machine that's working & free, but then having to search for a pin because there isn't any!!

Pins for the cable machines are missing on over half of the machines. Trying to find a pin is like a needle in a haystack!
I've repeatedly spoken to the manager and I've been told new ones are coming.. this was easily 4 months ago.

Carabiner clips are also missing and approximately 6 cables we can’t use because of this.

I was told to use a small carabiner by one of the young lads on the floor because there was no big ones. But this was not suitable to lift heavy weights I needed.

The Air condition is not working, and it makes the gym very stuffy, I've recently seen the gym opening their doors to allow airflow in to the gym, which is a waste of time!!
The sound system yesterday wouldn't work & screeching noise were coming from it for over 10-15 minutes.

There are NO staff on the gym floor when you need them, they are meant to be around to deal with questions & enquiries, especially ones about equipment or there lack of, it's like they don’t want to deal with it so they hide away.

General standards are poor from showers needing cleaning, to toilets being disgusting and no toilet roll, or unable to pull toilet roll through.

This really is getting silly. It's got to the point now where Im wondering why I'm paying my membership for this kind of disgrace?! Someone needs to pull there finger out & do their job otherwise members are going to go elsewhere. I know I'm considering it.

Employees are very nice and very clean workout gear.

I like the boxing area and the weightlifting area and the sauna, it is a fantastic gym, changing rooms close at 12am. It's not a huge problem as I can just shower at home.

Great gym has all the equipment you need but it’s hard to find the weight pins as they are missing so it takes a while to get one

It’s always so busy, even at 9pm, the air con is rubbish, the machines arent fixed for weeks.. the hip thrust machine has been broken for about a month.. the toilets are filthy with tissues and poo all over them, there’s never any toilet roll and there’s never any pins in the weight machine meaning you can’t use them.

Very good equipment, the changing rooms could do with being cleaner

Good selection of machines, nice clean gym and everyone is helpful.
Could do with few more weights and accessories for certain machines.

The battery life on my phone is bad at the moment and using the app at the moment to enter the gym, it keeps shutting the phone off. I have the last 3 visits having to buzz in to enter the gym, it is annoying. I asked if I could use the disabled entrance and was told no as I’m not disabled. What am I supposed to do, not everyone has a phone, not everyone can afford a new phone. So I have to press the buzzer each time. It felt Tyrone thought I was lying and not helping her thinking I’m being aggressive. What is the problem? I have given feedback here before and they don’t like what they hear. I will give some credit after several complaints the spin bikes are getting maintained like they should. I will remove this negative comment if jd can resolve my temporary issue as they never respond to emails.

No induction from any of the team members to show you around the gym! Gym heavily overcrowded! Loads of the equipment in dire need of replacement!

Used this gym before I got poorly but now i'm well again I rejoined

The modern machinery kept and maintained gives you a vibe to really be a new version of yourself

Took the £25 offer so I could work out at both gyms near my home and my office. It works great. I can get 30 minutes in on my lunch hour and do a longer set on weekends near home. Both gyms are 24 hour opening and staff are friendly and approachable. Plenty of equipment but only negative is the classes need updating on the website as I turned up for a class only to find that there wasn’t one.

Really great gym with wide variety of equipment. Good price per month and Aldin who showed me and my Husband around was polite, informative and his personality sealed the deal for us to sign up for this particular gym.
