The gym it self is very spacious and tidy and clean but the changing rooms and the toilets and showers and sauna have a really bad smell of sewage and is very sickening to smell

Lovely, helpful, knowledgeable & friendly staff (Ryan) who was on hand to help and show me around on my first visit.

Good if you always wanted to work out in a big, busy Superdry store.
How dark it is in this gym is what you will notice first, not necessarily a bad thing but without an induction or a quick show around I had no clue where anything was and this gym is massive and heavily partitioned so would recommend having a 5 minute mooch about when you get in there under guide of the neon lights.
I go at very non-peak times but it is always busier than you predict here, you can still get on the majority of things you need because as previously said it is a big gym and there's loads of gear.
Parking is sound. Changing rooms are sound. Getting in and out with the app is sound. Water and vendos are sound.
Plenty of equipment, eg. powerbags, kettlebells, plates, mats & benches for everyone, however I have noticed a lack of barbell clips and sometimes find myself hunting for them in the bench area.
Music is better and louder than other gyms so if you workout with someone you aren't the only source of atmosphere here which is a plus.
Haven't been to one yet but I've seen the classes going on and they look decent enough considering they're part of the price.
Only spotted one broken machine so far and everything is clean enough.
Treadmills are way behind the curve compared to other gyms and some of the resistance/cable machines seem much older than others but mostly good gear to be found.
Seems like a decent gym, certainly better than Puregym and council leisure centre gyms considering price.
If you drive and hate sitting in traffic I would not recommend this gym but other than that it's definitely worth a look but please don't get a membership here because it's busy enough, cheers.

Lots of machine off or out of order
Lots of machine off or out of order. Absolutely heaving most of the time to the point it looks unsafe for so many people in the building. Would be useful on the app to know how many people in the gym so if it’s busy people can go at a different time (like pure gym app). Parking is a nightmare with cars just parking on curbs etc

Over 1 year and there are no handles…
Over 1 year and there are no handles attachment to use in machine, it only cost £5.70 for pair. Staff saying we ordered but nothing came.

Great gym
The equipment, the atmosphere, the cleanliness, the staff and the parking are all great. Special mention to my PT, Seb, his knowledge and friendliness have changed me from a couch potato to someone who loves working out.

Would recommend PT’s at JD Gym
Had a great PT for a year at the JD gym (Seb Brunet). Highly recommended.
Will push you if you need to be or just focus on specific parts of the body depending on what you want to get out of it.
Endless circuits and never did the same exercise twice. (maybe twice at a push)
Knocked 5 years off my metabolic age.

Awful experience with this gym
Awful experience with this gym. Machines and weights very tatty and old, not enough cable machines, the ones they have seem to be from 20 years ago they’re that old and far too busy to be able to complete a full workout as it’s full of kids playing on their phones for 20 minutes between each set, oh and I cancelled my subscription for which I was told someone would contact me (why I’ve no idea) but never did and this morning they’ve decided to take another payment from my bank! This is a cancel anytime gym isn’t it? No contract? Yet they don’t let you cancel and then think it’s ok to steal your money! Would definitely not recommend

Only problem I have is one quad machine Leeds south. Double up.
The cleaners seem very good. Put in a lot of effort.
This gym is tidy. I mean the staff keep on top of it more than other jd gyms I’ve been to. The Sheffield south gym on two floors, is a mess.

Hi Olli, thanks for the 5 star review of our Leeds South gym! I know how competitive the team in Leeds South are, so I am sure they will be loving being compared to their South Yorkshire 'inter-company rival'.
We do work hard to maintain exceptional standards on cleanliness, so it is great to hear!
In the case of getting the quads a thorough workout, please do not hesitate in asking a Personal Trainer for an alternative as they usually have something up their sleeve.
Or by all means, please email the manager on: leedssouth@jdgyms.co.uk as we are always happy to know bespoke improvements that would improve your gym experience. The General Manager can then discuss it with our wider team and suppliers.

Fitness heaven: my home away from home
I've been a member of JD Gym - South Leeds for over a year now, and I can honestly say it's the best decision I've made for my health and well-being. The gym's atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and motivating, making every workout a positive experience.

Brilliant gym
Brilliant gym, especially love the dark lighting. I’m a bigger girl and trying hard to lose weight and get over gym anxiety. Most people will smile at you as they walk past (if you smile at them :). The darker lighting in the gym also helps as I am neurodivergent so it’s great for sensory issues. I do wish the studio was open just a little later however. I try to go when it’s quiet to avoid as much anxiety as I can but it’s still rather busy at around 10pm when I go. And special props to the staff member who cleans every night I am there and is always there to let you in when your code is being a little funny. Overall a great gym, just a little busy, wish the studio closed later and that maybe some new cable ropes could be bought as the old ones are freyed (however you can just bring your own for comfort :) ).

We love to see that it is a 5 star positive review. It's wonderful to hear that you find our gym a welcoming and comfortable space, especially with the darker lighting. We understand the challenges of gym anxiety and are glad that our environment helps you feel more at ease.
We value your feedback about the studio hours however once we have less staff on the gym floor overnight we keep areas that have less CCTV coverage out of use to ensure the safety of our members and staff.
Our staff are dedicated to providing a welcoming and supportive environment is something we truly value so if there is anything further they can assist you with, i.e. the cable ropes.

Gym is always well equipped when I go. Supportive staff and other members who are always happy to share equipment and give a spot if needed. For the price I think it is great value.
