Great set of equipments. Even has punching bags which was lacking in most other gyms in the city centre. Plenty of space to move around. Decent price. The only improvement needed is some Body Assess... Voir plus

It's big and spacious but needs a tidy
It's big and spacious, easy to get into but it was very hard to find weight as the facility itself was very messy.
The women's only space was very small and had weight strewn across it but the mix of equipment was good. However, one of the machines was broken but had nothing on it to indicate it was broken.
As a newbie it was hard to navigate the space in general, would be nice to have a map on the website stating the equipment there or at least the division of spaces to make it more welcoming.

Inductions are not compulsory, so you are free to start using the gym immediately after joining if you feel happy to do so. We absolutely do offer them though, so If you would like an induction, please get in touch with your gym directly and a member of the team can help arrange this for you.

Shocking to be honest
Shocking to be honest, a lot of the equipment is outdated specifically the cardio orientated ones. Not enough back machine’s and chest flight is alway’s occupied so you could do with more of them. Lastly, my jacket got robbed from the changing room, this was my first time using the changing room. Sure i did not use a lock however, i’ve never experienced that in all my time going gym and just and it happens first time using yours. The staff told me it happens every day and you guys have not put down any procedures to prevent it. You can make the gym look aesthetic but it’s just a mask lol.

Ladies Gym - Beware of males entering w/o announcing!!
I have been trying to phone the gym's number at different times of the day for two weeks, e-mailed them twice, & never got an answer!
1- The Ladies-only gym has only two treadmills, one of them is not working! I've been there several times so far & couldn't get on the working treadmill because it was occupied.
2- As I was training in the Ladies-only gym, a male cleaner entered the gym unannounced, & when I asked him why he comes in without announcing himself to a "Ladies Only" area he told me "It's not a ladies gym based on religious beliefs" although I haven't brought up religion in my question, but he assumed this because I had a hijab on. I don't think any segregated area should have people from the other sex entering without permission except for emergencies.
3- I have asked other women who are regular gym goers & they told me that's not normal, & that male cleaners usually announce themselves before entering the area.
It's just horrendous that you can never get a hold of anyone to talk to in the gym, no one answers the phone, no one answers e-mails, no one opens the door when I knock on the door where the staff sits. It's one of the worst gym experiences I've ever had.

Update your equipment!
I have been once and I have asked to cancel my membership already. The equipment is really old and used compared to gyms around it at the same price point, the car park doesn't feel safe at night, such a shame as I have used JD gyms at other sites before and they have been great! Update your equipment, it seems to be a consistent review!!

Sheffield south was poor today
Sheffield south, a poor site!
Changing rooms littered and dirty, more broken than working lockers,
Equipment worn out/ damaged but all in service.... the cardio bike I used, the peddles kept slipping!
Grips on most machines are missing or torn, loose weights all over the place.... nothing where it should live

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our maintenance team and equipment providers to ensure the facilities are in safe working order. However if you have any concerns about the facilities or equipment in club, specifically the changing areas/lockers, please notify staff on site as soon as you can, or directly to the management team on: Sheffieldsouth@jdgyms.co.uk
Our team on the gym floor do encourage our members to replace any equipment used in the correct place, however if you are struggling to locate anything inparticular, please notify the team on the floor as they usually know the main hiding places they have been left.

Good range of equipment
Good range of equipment, accessible day and night. Early mornings the gym is untidy with equipment (weights) being left all over by customers. Some of the equipment is showing its age (e.g.handgrips)

Unfortunately some of the night owls are not as tidy as the early birds and our limited number of staff over night means their priorities are within the changing areas.

Gym is but but so lees equipment…
Gym is but but so lees equipment basically only 1 machine for a designated excersise compare to otyer gyms which have 2 to 3 like pounds forge all they should do is add more machines so when its busy people can still use a certein machine other than that its good

Honest review after a few years of membership
Been a member for some time now and it was great a few years back - equipment in good condition, staff tidying/cleaning - not too messy and an upgrade over the xercise4less. They made it 24/7 some time back which was another bonus.
HOWEVER... it is not what it used to be. So many lockers smashed in/not working, sinks often have no soap, no one ever tidying up kit is all over the place- theve recently got some new kit but not bothered to fix some of the current kit that is in serious need of maintenance - rust/lose pins. Getting a workout done in the freeweigjts area is close to impossible like a maze walking around all the scattered dumbbells everywhere. Basic things also neglected, no cleaning stations, members aloweed to tamper with lighting/sound systems and Rollerblade around the gym,, such as shame because the gym used to be brilliant but gone downhill pretty fast..

good but could be tidier
Its a good gym and i like the equipment + lighting but it was a bit of a mess - none of the weights put back + teh ones that were all in the wrong places

The gym is great but the lack of working equipment
The gym is great but the lack of working equipment is just not acceptable. From no batteries on the rowers to out of order machines it’s just not okay. I moved from a university gym to this gym as I thought that it would provide a better range of equipment but unfortunately a lot of it is not working and taking a long time to be fixed.

Hi Lily, thanks for leaving us some feedback. Although we are gutted to see the 1*, we can understand your frustration around equipmwnt being out of order especially when it is just our batteries that have gone flat!

We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. In the meantime, please do not hesitate in picking the brains of our Personal Trainers in Sheffield South as they will no doubt have a weird/wonderful alternative for you if some equipment is out of action Keeping you on track to smash your goals💪

Impossible to get in touch with them
It is impossible to cancel a membership. I signed up and canceled the same day, as I didn’t like the gym. I didn’t cancel the direct membership, as per their request on the website. 30 days later, I get charged!!! I email again, twice!! I also tried calling the gym I visited, I get ignored. So I proceed to cancel my direct debit to at least avoid further charges and the next day they email me and text me to say that they noticed I canceled my direct debit! Like, what?? Why haven’t they notice my previous 3 requests of cancelation. This is such disrespect towards their customers!

Standards dropped
I lived in Sheffield a few years ago when the JD gym was opened and while I attended for the first 2 years it was great, clean everywhere, equipment worked and everything had a place and was put back after use.
I have recently moved back to the gym after working away and lots of broken equipment, weights everywhere, no clips for free weights in sight. No one putting things back where they should be and locker rooms full of dented, broken, unusable lockers.
Unimpressed with how quickly this decline seems to have happened as only been out of the city a year or so but prices have lowered for the gym so maybe there is a correlation because population using gym has increased and barely any staff on the floor that you can see maintaining order. Would definitely pay more per month to attend this gym if it was better kept and equipment fixed in reasonable time frame.
